DRILL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Front and Rear View – strap placement for transportation.

Trailer Hitch Details – plug in, chains, pin.

3. Tail Lights – Back-up Lights on Trailer.

4. Drill Hitch Details with grease zerk

5. Feed Shaft/Drive Wheel – down position is “engaged”. Inside the drive wheel box – grease zerk.

6. Small seed box – for forbs. Rate adjustment lever. Left position is “closed”.

Large seed box – for grasses. Feed cup adjuster is on each tube. Large seed is “up”; small seed is “down”.

8. Depth adjuster chains - position chain at the 3rd-4th link so that they don’t bounce off during operation.

The feed shaft adjustment lever. The sowing rate of the seed is controlled by this lever which in turn controls the metering area of the fluted roll. The more the flutes are exposed, the higher the sowing rate. There are no settings on this lever; the seeding rates must be physically verified; see Tech. Note 19 for calibration methods for various seed sizes.

9. Clean out the seed boxes when done.

10. Tips for loading the drill back on the trailer:a. Consider placing the trailer in a depression (or excavating a hole for the tires) so

that the “push” is at a lower angle.b. Consider “pulling” the drill on the trailer using a chain – may need ramps.c. Consider using a loader to set the drill on the trailer.
