Wood Work Wonders:“Wood recycling for Social Good”Stephen Moore, Hornsey Journal Wood Works Wonders – recycling wood for social goodWood Work Wonders is a new initiative that makes use of wood waste by collecting and recycling it and reducing the amount going into landfill. Based at the Selby Centre in Tottenham, the project employs formerly unemployed people and local skilled carpenters to bring together trade skills, job opportunities and spread environmental awareness. Wood Works Wonders has been established as a social enterprise project with the help of a grant from the Safer Communities Fund provided by Haringey Council. Wood Works Wonders is a member of the Reuse Network and the National Wood Recycling Network. The Selby Trust was set up as a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in May 2003 by local people who recognised the need for a multi-purpose centre led by the community and third sector organisations.
