BRIEF Green Lantern Consulting is a small, accounting and tax preparation service owned by Moss

Movement Trading Enterprises (Pty) Ltd., a private company in Gauteng, Johannesburg. The firm offers tax accounting, management accounting, and Sage Pastel set-up and training, as well as other consulting services for small business clients.

Following the SAB Shabeen Liquor Licence Project (2013) – which Moss Movement was a part of through rendering the services of Architectural Draftsmen to the Egoli Region whereby outlets who were holders of permits were encouraged to upgrade to licence holders through a system of consultation organised by SAB – it came to the attention of Moss Movement that a lot of work still needed to be done with regards to achieving the Liquor Licence Project Aims, which includes the advancement of Shabeens and Taverns as small businesses, alluding to the phase-in approach to upgrade trading permits to licenses for shabeens. As a result of participating in the project, Moss Movement identified other particularities relating to the challenges which are faced by the Shabeens and Taverns relating to overall compliance as suitable outlets which hinder the approval of applications for a License to trade. It was thereupon where Green Lantern embarked on a non-resident yet parallel pilot project to devise a sanitation and waste management solution with a vision to assist in disentangling those challenges and see the outlets operate as fully fledged, well run and fruitful small businesses that are in full compliance with state laws.

OBJECTIVES Green Lantern Consulting seeks to launch a new line of services – Shabeen and

Tavern business bookkeeping as well as Permit-to-Licence applications - which will be offered to the same ongoing clients as Green Lantern currently seeks.

Green Lantern has set the following objectives:

To launch the services slowly to all shabeens across Gauteng To implement the services through a collaboration with EMM and the GLTA To launch a construction learnership/apprenticeship as a resolution to Skills

Development and Job Creation through the service To service a maximum of 900 outlets by the third year 2018, increasing by

three hundred outlets a year from year one, 2016.

MISSION Green Lantern Consulting seeks

to provide a rental service of portable toilets and recycle bins to collect waste such as cans and bottles. We also seek to assist Shabeen/Tavern permit holders in acquiring certificates of suitability to trade through provision of portable toilets and construction of decent pit toilets, as well as lodging applications on behalf of the Shabeen owners after ensuring full compliance with relevant state laws.
