By raising the level of the European waste management sector to full compliance the turnover of waste management and recycling increase by 42 billion € and the number of jobs increase by 400,000.

This number is obtained assuming a rate of 350.000 t/a/plant for WTE plants and of 65.000 t/a/plant for TMB and other recycling facilities.
IN SARDEGNA ?
Opportunità di impresa per il settore compostaggio. Mancano diverse figure professionali nella Regione Sardegna evidenziato dalla necessità continua di chiedere a figure professionali da altre Regioni a intervenire sia sugli impianti sia in altre attività che elenchiamo qui. 1- Tecnici di gestione del processo di compostaggio. Sono professionisti con esperienza nel controllo del processo iniziando con la recezione dei rifiuti, la miscelazione, la fase di trattamento accelerato, la vagliatura e la maturazione del prodotto finito. Il Tecnico deve anche assicurare la tracciabilità dei rifiuti dall’ingresso al compost venduto. Ad oggi gli impianti della Sardegna hanno alcune figure con esperienza adeguata ma in altri le figure ancora mancano.
2- Tecnici normativi e amministrativi e della qualità. Gli impianti devono sottoporsi a numerose istanze normative e adempiementi amministrativi per assicurare la conformità con la Legge e nel settore dei rifiuti, i controlli da Enti come la Guardia Forestale, i NOE, i NAS, sono continui. Il Tecnico quindi deve assicurare l’aggiornamento dell’impianto con le norme e accompagnare i controllori durante le loro visite.
3- Tecnici di commercializzazione del compost. Sono professionisti con esperienza soprattutto agronomica che si affacciano con il mondo agricolo e florovivaismo per la promozione del compost. Ad oggi in Sardegna soltanto due impianti hanno un responsabile per la commercializzazione del compost in un mercato in costante crescità.
4- Tecnici di progettazione delle raccolte differenziate. Alcuni grandi comuni, come Cagliari e Olbia, non sono ancora partite con le raccolte differenziate e anche se le figure professionali in Sardegna nel settore non mancano, comunque la concorrenza aiuta la qualità. Poi in altri comuni dove già esistono la raccolte, occorre a volte migliorarle, aggiornarle e integrarle.
5- Tecnici di comunicazione. La comunicazione ai cittadini è fondamentale per il buon funzionamento delle raccolte e dovrebbe essere un’attività continua. Purtroppo, come qui evidenziato, la comunicazione è sporadica e spesso di scarsa qualità. I consorzi e i comuni quindi hanno bisogna di integrare le loro attività di promozione pubblica facendo piani annuali e finanziandoli adeguatamente
