Mrs Good, Mrs Bad and the

twelve months

A tale told by B1 class

4th Primary school

Veria

Once upon a time there was a lady who was striving to raise her kids.

She was poor but she was always kind to everybody and her kids, though

they were often starving, were always kind, friendly and happy.

Mrs Bad on the other hand was rich but was very mean and would never

say anything good about anyone, let alone help them. Her kids had

everything they wished for, but were naughty, miserable and nagging all

the time.

Mrs Good was desperate as she needed food for her kids and had no

help from Mrs Bad. So she started roaming in the forest until she saw a

beautiful castle on top of a hill. She climbed up, knocked on the door

and was surprised to see an old, white bearded man and twelve tall nice

lads. They greeted her and so did she; after listening to her plea for help,

they asked her to tell them what she thought of the four seasons and its

months. This is what she said for each:

The men, who were the twelve months, were very pleased and offered

her a bag full of things to take back home and open it there.

She was surprised to see it was full of gold coins which she used to have

a better life and also help those in need.

Mrs Bad was curious about this change and when she was told by Mrs

Good about the castle of the twelve good men, she immediately set off

hoping to be rewarded as well.

However, at their question about her opinion on the seasons she replied

rudely:

I hate all of them: Winter months are cold and dark, in summer we

suffer from the hot weather and insect bites, autumn is terrible because

people have to work hard to prepare for the winter and last, spring

flowers and trees that blossom bring allergies and too much noise from

birds and insects!

She was given a present, too but was asked to open it when she got back

home. Without thanking, she rushed back home and got what she

deserved but had not expected: lots of useless stones!
