GREEK PAINTED POTTERY
“Virtually, all that we know about the art of these early centuries has been won from the soil… a fire-clay vase, with its painted decoration, is almost indestructible.” (Boardman, J. Greek art)
Clay color determines the origin /city. Found mainly in graves but also used in
everyday life. Local workshops in Achaia and imported. Artistic and handmade, even misfigured
but still in use.
