Products
The people of Greece grow cotton, grapes, lemons, olives, sheep, tobacco, vegetables, and wheat. They manufacture cement, cigarettes, clothing, metal products, processed foods and drinks, and textiles.
Mining is bauxite, lignite, and chromite.
BAUXITE
Size
Greece is about 2% of the U.S.A. (not including Hawaii or Alaska). It is 50,962 square miles. In the greatest mainland from North to South, it is 365 miles across. From East to West, it is 345 miles. Around the coastline, it is 9,333 miles.
Money
Greece’s money used to be drachma, lepta, and obel. Now it is a euro (picture below.)
Capitol
Athens is the capitol of Greece. It is also the largest city-state in Greece. With it’s historic ruins, it gets tons of tourists each year.
Population
1995 estimates say there are about 10,154,000 people in Greece. That means that there is about 197 people per a square mile.
The distribution is 63% urban, 37% rural.
