The Greek Flag

• This is the Greek flag it stands for the Greek orthodoxy which is the religion.

• The colors stands for the sea’s and the sky.

• The nine strips stand for the nine syllables of the Greek motto which is ‘freedom or death’.

The Greek Orthodox religion and churches

• The word Orthodox means orthos ('right') and doxa ('belief').

• The Orthodox religion is the religion which about 96% of Greece believe in it.

• This religion is very powerful

• Greece supports the orthodox religion through taxes.

Eating

• The Greeks have dinner around 8 to 9pm and have lunch around noon to 2pm.

• Can’t leave the table till everyone is done eating its rude if you do. • In restaurants they get big dishes and share them• In Greece they usually go into the kitchen and choose what they

want to eat by looking at it.

Beaches in Greece

• There are many beaches in Greece such as Corfu. Which is one of the most famous beaches in Greece because it’s the most beautiful in Greece.

• There's Lesvos which has the most water sports in Greece.• There’s the Santorini beaches with use to show volcanic activity

Babies in ancient Greece

• Lots of times the babies would die the fast few days.

• They weren't given a name for a few weeks just to make sure the baby lives and they wont get to attached it them.

• When the babies wore something it would only be a cloth but most of the time they would wear nothing.

Clothing in Ancient Greece

• Women often wore just a big piece of linen or wool and just wrapped it around themselves and pin it to make it stay.

• Men wore chiton which was to their knees and was just like a big t-shirt. Made of wool or linen just like the women. But when it got cold they would wear a cloak.

• They mostly went barefoot but when they wore shoes it would be sandals or boots made out of leather.

Money in Greece

• In Greece there is the 5,10,20,50,100,200,and 500 euro.

• For their coins they have the 1,2,5,10,20, and 50 cent they also have the 1 and 2 euro

The Olympics

• The first game recorded was in 776 B.C.• They had it in Olympia.• The reason for having these games because it

was a religious event. It was in honor of Zeus and was the biggest celebration in Greece

Diet in Greece

• In Greece people mostly eat lamb, seafood, olives, and cheese.

• Olive oil is mostly used in everything they make.• Salads are eaten with every meal.• They like to eat bean soup during the winter.

Language in Greece

• Greek is their main language.

• They teach English in school.

• Most Greeks know how to speech English and French.

• They been speaking Greek since the 19th century B.C. the day of the Homers.

Housing in Greece

• Most people in Greece live in concrete apartments or duplex and they all have balconies on each floor.

• Most of the apartments or duplexes were built in the 1960’s-1970’s.

• Most of the Greeks decorate their dinning rooms very fancy.

• They always put rugs over marble, terrazzo, and cerement floors.

Climate in Greece

• It rains very little in June and August.• It is usually very hot in the summers.• Its is usually always warm.

• Jan.1st is new years day• Epiphany which is the twelve days of Christmas coming to an end which is the 6th of Jan.

• In Feb. 15 there's the Orthodox Shrove Monday. • independence day is mar. 25• Apr 2nd is Orthodox good Friday.• Apr 5th is Orthodox Easter Monday • May 1st is labor day.• Orthodox whit Monday is may 24th.

• Aug 15 is Assumption • Oct 28th is Ochi Day

Greece families

• If the parents die the oldest must take care of the youngest and help them finish school.

• The elderly get served first at meals and are always very respected.

• The parents spend most of their money on food cloths and education for their children the basic satchels.

Transportation in Greece

• In Greece there is trains, cars, plains, bus, and taxis also Ports.

• For taxis they charge extra money after the hours of 12 midnight and there everywhere in Athens.
