From the Chief Executive Officer Greetings and welcome to GWArc’s 2017 Annual Report, as we review another remarkable year at this agency.

As 2016 closed, we celebrated GWArc’s 60th Anniversary with two events: a Gala with awards honoring a local friend of GWArc, who is in a state office, and a long time employee; and a Community Dance Party for participants and their families, friends and staff – it was great!

2017 brought successful events—our new “Spring for GWArc!” WCAC Live TV Auction fundraiser and of course our 47th

Annual Harvest Breakfast. As the year progressed, we welcomed several new staff members, including Director of the ECB Program. We are pleased to have new staff and new ideas while we value the longevity of current staff, as well.

GWArc participants enjoyed a year full of activities, as you will see inside this report—from new experts coming to our programs to our very busy Recreation Program. The Adult Family Care (AFC) program continued to grow and we are happy to serve so many in the community.

Beginning in the summer, the Board of Directors and I have worked to better understand the financial implications of the agency’s challenges—in particular, the aging population, decrease in numbers served and projections for operational expenses with even more intensive staffing needed. Therefore the new Strategic Plan 2018-20 calls for continued enhancement of current programming and outreach to referral sources and families who may consider sending participants to GWArc. This outreach will be varied to include our networking for the AFC program as well as Community Based Day Supports (CBDS) programming and our employment programs.

Overreaching all of this is the plan to re-brand the agency—a new name for a bright future—and you will see this in early 2018, with a new name, website, print materials and a fresh look at how GWArc is presented to all stakeholders. We look forward to this change and the opportunity to reach all involved to provide details about our new initiatives and new look.

Many thanks for a wonderful year of your support and hopes for a good next year for our agency and for all of you, our stakeholders and a most important part of our ongoing efforts.

Roz Rubin, GWArc CEO, plans for the coming year with John Peacock and Marcia MacClary (seated), Co-Presidents, GWArc 2018 Board of Directors.

Roslynn Rubin, Ed.D Chief Executive Officer
