• There is absolutely NO SMOKING anywhere on campus.

• Parking is allowed in the main parking lots or designated shop areas. Automobiles which are illegally parked will be tagged and brought to the attention of the police.

• When GNB Voc-Tech day school has been cancelled for inclement weather, evening school classes ARE NOT automatically can-celled. A separate decision will be made and announced. Check the Website at www.gnbvt.edu or check us out on Face-book for snow cancellations. You may also call the school at 508-998-3321 ext. 195 or listen to radio stations WBSM, WNBH, or WSAR for further information. Make-up clas-ses will be scheduled at the discretion of the Adult Education Director.

• At the conclusion of each non-license class, students will be given a certificate in their re-spective programs if they have attended 75% of the required class.

• It is a school policy that no one is allowed into the building or any of the classrooms at any time unless they are an Adult Education stu-dent.

• C.E.U.’s and P.D.P.’s are available upon re-quest for some courses.

• Instructor names on courses are subject to change.

• Due to scheduling constraints, make-up clas-ses and specific class dates may be sched-uled to a different evening at the discretion of the Instructor. Days missed due to inclement weather will be made up if possible.

• Students may now register online through www.gnbvt.edu/adult and pay with a credit or debit card.

• Registration is open to all, regardless of where they reside.

• Classes operate on a Trimester System. All classes run for 8 weeks from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday unless otherwise stated.

• Tuition will be returned if it is impossible to conduct a course or the student decides to drop out of a planned course before it begins.

• Senior Citizens (60 or over) will receive a $10.00 discount for all 8 week classes and a $5.00 discount for 4 week classes.

SAFETY PROCEDURES

In light of recent events, the GNB Voc-Tech Institute will be following state guidelines, rec-ommendations and protocols for safety. We require masks to be worn in the building at all times and recommend frequent hand washing and social distancing of 6 feet whenever pos-sible. Several of our courses may transition to a hybrid classroom format including remote learning options. All students should have access to the Internet and have a valid email ad-dress. The Coffee Shop will be closed this semester to reduce the spread of germs.

Industrial/Municipal Wastewater Training

Instructor: Vinny Furtado

This twelve week course will introduce the student to the physical and

chemical processes associated with water quality, pollution, and

treatment of liquid wastes, as they pertain to Municipal and Industrial

Operations. The student will be exposed to the function of related

equipment and support systems and the environmental

responsibilities required to safely and properly operate and maintain a

Wastewater Treatment Facility. Topics covered include municipal

wastewater treatment processes, industrial wastewater treatment

processes, collection systems, regulations, laboratory and math. This

course will concentrate on preparing students to pass a Grade 4

Municipal Wastewater License exam, a Massachusetts Basic

Industrial Wastewater License exam and/or a Grade 5 Combined

Wastewater License Exam. This course is also a State of

Massachusetts approved class for obtaining Training Contact Hours.

IAPMO MA Licensed Plumbers & Gas Fitters

License Renewal Course

PL-07: Dates TBD

MA master plumbers and gas fitters, journeyman plumbers and gasfit-

ters, and LP installers are required by CMR 11.00 to compete Session

#6 prior to license renewal. This class will utilize IAPMO course curric-

ulum materials which include Board updates, chimney and venting

updates, appliance installation requirements, tool and product news,

related industry issues, administrative topics, code compliant installa-

tion methods, alternative plumbing technologies, and business items

that currently effect all licensees. Students need to sign up for both

courses and need their license number.

This Fall, the Plumbing program may be

switching to an all or partial online format.

248 CMR Tier Program for Licensure of Plumbers

PL-01: Tier 1 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. Course

consists of 110 class hours along with a final exam. Licensees

must pass tier 1 final exam before continuing to PL-02.

PL-02: Tier 2 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. PL-01

or equivalent required. Course consists of 110 class hours along

with a final exam. Licensees must pass tier 2 final exam before

continuing to PL-03.

PL-03: Tier 3 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. PL-01

and PL-02 or equivalent required. Course consists of 110 class

hours along with a final exam. Licensees must pass tier 3 final

exam before continuing to PL-04.

Tier 4 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. PL-01,

PL-02 and PL-03 or equivalent required. Course consists of 110

class hours along with a final exam. Licensees must pass tier 4

final exam before continuing to PL-05.

PL-05: Tier 5 program for the licensed apprentice plumber or the

Journeyman Plumber seeking to obtain a master plumber license.

PL-01, PL-02, PL-03, and PL-04 or equivalent, or a Journeyman

plumber license required. Course consists of 110 class hours.

All students should bring in their own updated code books.

Students missing more than 4-7 sessions will be required to

take a two-week make up session.

(10 weeks in the Fall and 10 Weeks in the Winter)

Covers the basic requirements such as boiler construction, pumps, and

safe-boiler operation.

MA State 1st Class Fireman’s License Prep

Covers traps, pumps, steam end, heaters, and code requirements.

6-Hour Steam License Renewal

Individuals licensed to operate boilers under a special license shall

demonstrate completion of 6 hours of continuing education at or

through an institution or organization approved by the commission-

er, in consultation with the chief inspector, during each 5-year

period proceeding each license renewal.

MA State 3rd Class Engineer’s License Prep

Covers the joints, valve settings of pumps and simple engines,

turbines, and condensers.

Mandatory License Renewal - 30 hours

All individuals licensed to operate boilers shall demonstrate the

completion of 30 hours of continuing education before each license

renewal.

This course will prepare participants for employment within both the clinical and retail pharmacy practice. Focus will be placed on medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, inventory systems, and

regulations affecting pharmacy practice.

Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to sit for the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam which would provide them with a CPHT (Certified Pharmacy Technician)

license.

EKG-01 Night: Monday

EKG TECHNICIAN

The objective of this course is to gain experience as an EKG techni-

cian using the following skills: • Properly obtaining EKG including lead placement • Troubleshooting and artifacts • Heart Anatomy and Physiology • Diseases of the heart • Operating and adjusting of EKG monitors • Holter Monitors • Pacemaker Rhythms • Reading and Interpretation of EKG recordings • Communication with Physicians and Medical Staff

An EKG Technician Certificate will be given at course completion to students receiving a 70% or better course average. Also offered (not mandatory or required for employment) is a Nation-al Certification by the American Medical Certification Association—AMCA (for an additional fee). Our students will have the mandatory

6-month work requirement waived. — Loose fitting clothing a must.

The healthcare industry continues to grow and the basic training program for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) has an overall objective to improve the quality of pre-hospital emergency care ren-dered to victims of accidents and sudden illness. As such, the course develops skills in symptom recognition and in all emergency care procedures and techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of an EMT providing emergency medical care

with an ambulance service.

This course is intended to prepare individuals to take the building

inspector certification exams. Candidates must meet the minimum

qualifications of MGL chapter 143 - 3, which requires a minimum of

five years of construction experience in a direct supervisory

position to take the certification exam. Certification will qualify you

for municipal employment as a building inspector.

The Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Program is a certificate program to

help answer the need for qualified assistants in ophthalmology prac-

tices. This program is designed to teach the basic skills needed to per-

form eye exams and prepare the patient for the ophthalmologist.

Post-Secondary Certificate-Marine Technology The Marine Technology Program prepares students to work in both the commercial and recreational marine industries. This post-secondary program of training includes boat handling in-struction and safety, general shop and tool safety, internal com-bustion engines, marine electrical system design and installa-tion, outboard, inboard, sterndrive and diesel engine systems, propulsion system maintenance, boat trailer maintenance, elec-tronics installation, vessel systems, marine cosmetics and build-ing construction, marine welding/fabrication. The working envi-ronment and customer service practices for the marine industry are discussed in detail.

This solid fundamental education in Marine Technology will pro-vide students with a wide variety of opportunities for both occu-pational employment and educational pursuits. This program provides instruction to students about the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Certified Advisor certifications as well as the National Marine Electronics Association (NEMA) electronics certification process.
