    More than 1,400 scarves were knitted by AT&T Indiana Pioneers to give to othervolunteers helping at this year's Super Bowl. The Indiana AT&T Pioneers is a"darn" good volunteer group of employees and retirees that provide localsupport through a variety of community projects.

    You are cordially invited to participate along with theMartinsville Rotary Club andthe Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce in the 2012 Mayor's Dinner. This

    prestigious event is held annually in the spring to honor the City of Martinsville and themany individuals, businesses and organizations that contribute to the economic growth

    Nominations Being Sought for Outstanding Business and OutstandingBusiness Professional of Year - Deadline: Friday, February 24th

    Nominations are now being sought for three awards that will be presented by theMartinsville Chamber at the annual Mayor's Dinner, being held on Tuesday evening,March 13th.

    The Outstanding Business Award recognizes businesses in or around the city ofMartinsville for noteworthy accomplishments, long-standing contribution to thecommunity, and significant community service efforts.

    The Outstanding Business Professional Award recognizes a business man or womanwho demonstrates outstanding achievement and excellence in his/her business orprofession, as well as business, social and community involvement.

    The Ruth Rusie Spirit of Service Award recognizes an individual for outstanding

    contributions in the way of volunteering, giving, fundraising, mentoring or caring in theworkplace or community. The Ruth Rusie Spirit of Service award is named for Ruth Rusieof Martinsville,IN for her inspiring volunteer achievements and outstanding commitmentto community service.

    The Art Place celebrates grand opening with ribbon cutting

    Mayor Phil Deckard, Martinsville Chamber President, and Chamber members joined owner GretchenTen Eyck Hunt in celebrating the opening of her new studio, The Art Place.

    THE ART PLACE, located at 190 East Morgan Street, is Gretchen Ten Eyck Hunt's working artstudio and gallery. Her experience in creating art for over 50 years is reflected in the work shecreates today. THE ART PLACE is Gretchen's open studio which allows visitors to view andpurchase her finished works or study art under her guidance. You may even find her creating artwhen you visit.

    Youth Connections seeking help with scavenger hunt

    Businesses are invited to join in sponsoring Morgan County's Community Wide 2012

    Safe Place Scavenger Hunt for youth (March 15th - 22nd). This collaborative SafePlace Scavenger Hunt is being supported by many community organizations and willchallenge youth teams tovisit Safe Place locations throughout Morgan County and willeducate youth on the dangers of alcohol and other drugs.     2012 Chamber Scholarship Application Now Available

    Once again this year, the Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer

    a scholarship to a high school senior attending Martinsville High School, or a MorganCounty Resident attending Indian Creek High School in Johnson County, with aspirationsto participate in a post-secondary education program. This is a reimbursementscholarship in the amount of $1,000.00. If selected as the recipient, receipts foreducation expenses must be turned in prior to receiving funds.

    Kendrick Foundation, Inc. Announces Spring Grant Cycle 2012

    The Kendrick Foundation, Inc. has announced its spring grant cycle for 2012. Applications will beaccepted from January 17 through March 16.Applicants must be non-profit 501(c)3 organizations, public schools, churches, or governmentalentities located in or serving Morgan County. The foundation funds health and health care-relatedprojects.Applying for a Kendrick grant is a streamlined two-step process. Prior to submitting a grant

    application, a Letter of Intent form must be submitted. This form and an explanatory brochureare available on the Kendrick Foundation website at www.kendrickfoundation.org. Paper copiesare available at either office of the Community Foundation of Morgan County, or can be mailedupon request. The foundation will only accept full grant applications from those organizationswhich are approved following submission of an accepted Letter of Intent.Letters of Intent must be physically received in the office of the Kendrick Foundation by March16, no later than 4 p.m. The Kendrick Foundation office is located in the Academy Building at250 N.     OUR MENTOR PROGRAM IS RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS TO HAVE LUNCH WITH SELECT ELEMENTARYSTUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT.MANY TIMES OUR AT-RISK STUDENTS SIMPLY NEED TO KNOW SOMEONE CARES ENOUGH TO SPENDSOME QUALITY TIME WITH THEM ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. NO SPECIAL SKILLS ARE REQUIRED, JUSTA LITTLE TIME TO SPEND WITH A SPECIAL CHILD.THESE STUDENTS WOULD GREATLY BENEFIT FROM A ONE-ON-ONE RELATIONSHIP WITH ASUPPORTIVE, CARING ADULT. OUR HOPE IS THAT A STRONG, POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WILLDEVELOP.

    Morgan County Humane Society Offering $20 Spay/Neuter

    $20 Spay/Neuter and Vaccine Grant Money

    For a limited time, we currently have grant money available to help neuter/spay your dog. For a$20 fee you can get your dog spayed/neutered and have their rabies vaccination updated. Thisgrant money is only available to residents of Morgan or Owen county. Funds are available untilthe funds are used or the end of June 2012 (deadline may be extended).

    United Way in Morgan County 2012 Campaign CommitteeUNITED WAY in MORGAN COUNTY is now recruiting community volunteers, including businessleaders, non-profit organization volunteers/staff, retirees, civic and fraternal clubs, and youthleaders involved in school-based clubs and activities.

    Role: The Campaign Committee assists United Way staff with the planning and implementation ofthe annual campaign in Morgan County.

    Commitment: 1 year, beginning in April, 2012Specific Responsibilities:

    Participate in 1 orientation session with United Way campaign staff; at a location in

    Morgan County. Attend monthly meetings at locations in Morgan County. Attendance is expected. If

    necessary, updates may be given via email and phone. Know the county campaign goal and work to achieve it. Assist in identifying key areas of concentration for campaign, including demographics,

    business districts, faith-based community, civic and fraternal organizations, medicalcommunity, lawyers, schools and individual donors.

    Call upon key companies for a corporate gift, top management leadership gift and animproved or new employee campaign.

    Focus on business development by identifying companies who do not currentlyparticipate with United Way and seek their involvement.

    Focus on individual giving by identifying potential donors and engaging them inUnited Way programs/activities.

    Identify and cultivate leadership giving prospects. (Those capable of a $1,500 gift andabove) Become knowledgeable about United Way's mission, its agencies and its role in the

    community. Be a community ambassador for United Way. Encourage companies to send their Employee Campaign Coordinators (ECC) to training
