We still have much to do before we close out our year. AZMerit will be taking place this month and I have a few suggestions to help your child do his/her very best. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before each testing date. Provide a healthy breakfast consisting of a protein, carbohydrate and fat in order to fuel the brain. Let them know that while the test counts, not to stress out and do their very best. We are all proud of them. Go Lynx! Testing Dates: April 5th: AIMS Science Grade 4 April 10th: AzMerit Writing Grades 3-6 April 24 & 25th: AzMerit ELA/Math Grades 3-6 We are already moving forward and planning for our next school year. Student groupings for class placement next year have already begun. This is a major undertaking, which we address thoroughly and thoughtfully. Our goal is to place each child in the learning environment where they will have the greatest success. Many factors contribute to placement decisions; such as individual learning styles, gender balance, academic strengths and needs, social/emotional needs and student combinations. Your child’s present teacher has a wealth of information regarding the conditions under which your child learns best. It is not necessary, nor is it expected, that parents communicate regarding class placement, however, if you wish to provide additional feedback we may not be aware of please share this information with your child’s current teacher. As a policy of Grayhawk Elementary, we do not honor requests for specific teacher placement. We realize that often times older siblings have had wonderful experiences with many of our teachers; however, each child is different and we need to look at the child’s needs first and foremost. Please trust us to make decisions that have every child’s best interests in mind. Also, it would be of great help if you would please notify the school office if you will be moving and leaving Grayhawk for next year as it helps us plan our classes more accurately when we know who will not be returning in the fall.

Thank you for all of your active involvement and support in your child’s education.

Respectfully,

Michelle PavlikPrincipal
