ABOUT ME My name is Jonathan Melody an internet marketer, graphic artist and web developer. Have being acquainted with the web since 2007 and still remember how I got my first pc (a desktop). All thanks to my mum. Funny how you believe so much in something and it turns out not working for you; That was how it was for years but then I was persistent, I knew the potentials the internet harbors and I wanted to be a part of it. I kept pushing and pushing and pushing. Had so many fails, fell victim of so many scams but refused quitting.And then, one evening as I was browsing through some money making sites, I found an e-book on mini importation, bought it (actually bought several of them), applied and made some money butthat wasn’t what I wanted as I get bored doing offline marketing. Ha!So tedious lol; easy for some though.

I got going with importation for sometime still struggling as I wasn’tall that good with marketing. However everything changed when I met a guy online (Abiola Oluwasanmi) who sold a product on graphics for N10000. That was a lot for a student you know but having the passion for graphics and the internet, I opted in and will say “That’s one of the best decision I had made”. I have made thousands of dollars from the internet using just one model in the graphics niche in a short time. Hey! I don’t expect you to believe that really, because there’s a lot on the web. But then, this is who I am and what I do. Now I think so much is already said about me andit’s time we talk about you. WHO THE HECK IS A GRAPHIC ARTIST

Now to understand better what we are going to talk about (graphics), you need to know who a graphic artist is because without him, we wouldn’t be talking about how you can make money from graphics. So, a graphic artist is a professional when you talk about the graphic design and graphic art industry, he creates primarily all the visuals you see on the internet and even outside the internet (please I’m not talking about fine artists).

A graphic artist create to communicate, He solves your thinking problem, He brings to reality that which exist only in your imaginations. There are no visuals without the graphic artist. In other words, there’s no life in a business online and offline without a graphic designer.

The importance of a graphic designer/artist to the growth of a business cannot be overemphasized.

HOW MUCH CAN BE MADE FROM GRAPHICS

Well this solely depends on who you meet and ask. However, to be straight with you, there’s no limit to what a designer can earn annually. You can earn as much as $70000 upwards annually depending on your skills and how much effort you put in your business.

The graphic design and art industry is not for lazy folks. So don’t getlazy lol. But then those who just want to earn from graphics and not designers, well the tedious part of the job won’t be handled by you.

And as we go along, you’ll see how much fun it is to earn without much work on your own part. Cool, right? Haha…lazyyyyyy. Ok, let’s keep it rolling!

Here, we’ll be talking about the various ways you can earn from graphics either as a graphic designer or a non graphic artist.1.Freelancing/outsourcing

Freelancing is simply the act of selling your labour/services and in graphics, it’s about the selling of graphic services/graphics e.g creating of banners, logos, book covers, posters, magazine covers, brand identity, website designs, templates, etc .

And the great part of this is, you don’t have to be a graphic designer/artist to start providing these services and that’s where we’ll talk about “outsourcing”

Outsourcing is simply the act of contracting an individual/company to do a job for you and thus, you don’t have to worry about how to get the job done.

There are different sites where a graphic designer can offer services on the internet and get paid and you can take a look at these sites below;

So what do you do and how do you take advantage of this? You simply register with these freelancing sites and put up your profiles;

Step1: Creating and Setting up Your Account

Setting up your account on Elance is nothing to take lightly as this is what clients will see first (your profile). When you bid for a job, the first thing to be reviewed by clients is your profile and you don’t want to jeopardize that opportunity to going home with that money.

Now, I’ll advice you not to go for the basic account because you’re going into business and it’s either you’re in or you’re not. So, you have to take this seriously.

Before talking about how to sign up with elance, I’ll explain a little bit more about how elance.com works summarily.

You see, people need work done and what they do is, they visit elance.com, post their job, explains their budget, what kinda job it is,time frame to get job done and all that.

Bidding for these jobs usually costs “connects”, depending on your membership level (this is why it’s important not to opt in for basic membership). The “connects” will be provided based on your membership level and you can buy more if you run out on extra bucks. Your left out “connects” will be rolled over the next month soyou need not worry about losing them.

You probably saying to yourself “this dude don’t want to talk about the “basic membership level” and how many “connects” are given?” well for basic membership, you have 10 connects monthly at this level and I think you should be made known of certain things should you choose to opt in this membership level;

The free or “Basic” membership level only gives you 10 connects as earlier stated and here are other hiccups;

1) Less keywords to be searchable for

2) Less priority on Elance search in general

3) Less respected by potential clients when submitting proposals.

I highly recommend you going with the “Professional membership level” . You get to pay $15 a month for 25 connects and that’s including being listed under “Writing & Translation” and “Sales & Marketing”, which costs extra. You get one job on Elance and you’ve already received a return on your investment.

Having known this, setting up your profile you’ll need to undergo a test. It’s quiet simple so don’t get yourself all worked up! Lol as it’s just to make sure you understand how elance works and know all protocols.

The moment you passed this stage, then it’s time to get your profile up! So you’ll consider the following;

Profile Picture: Hey make sure this is a picture of a human (preferably of you) and not some logo of your brand. Who cares about that anyway lol as what matters is who your clients are going to deal with even though you’re miles away.

Description/Headline: This has to be concise as possible and straight to the point, no babbling. Summarize what you provide and who you are. Please appear professional as no one want to deal with a mediocre. Your profile picture and headline are the first things everyone is going to see and as such, should be taken seriously because if it’s not captivating and appealing, you’ll be skipped. You don’t want that of course.

Overview: This has to be convincing as this is basically your sales pitch; why you’re so different, unique, awesome etc. It’s like a resume you know and has to be professionally written.

Porfolio: Here you have samples of what you’re able to do and should be something that would make one have a pause to take a second look if you know what I mean.

If you’re just starting out and don’t have a portfolio (not a graphic artist), you can get those of who you’ll be outsourcing to. We will talk about that soon, lets keep going.

Service Description: This is simply about what you provide and youcan get this from who you want to outsource to. No big deal but make sure it’s professional and well spelt out.

HOW DO YOU SEARCH FOR JOBS ON ELANCE

Now we are getting more into the knows of elance. Your account is up and it’s time to start searching for jobs but you must keep in mindthat; not all jobs are needed. Only search for jobs related to graphics of course and you need not bid on every job in the niche as most are not worth it. Don’t be scared to skip jobs but be sure to search for jobs daily.

BIDDING ON JOBS

I will point out here that, you mustn’t bid below what is stated by thebuyer. Take for instance, a buyer budgets $500 on a job and you see others bidding $200, $300 etc, you shouldn’t be scared to bid $1000 if you know the job/what the person is requesting for is worth more than $500. You might be lucky! Not all times, you must take note.

What I’m trying to say is this; do not pay much attention to low bids.Many people bid low with the intention to secure the job and who cares, if the buyer want to go with a low bid, probably he loves cheap jobs and that’s what he’ll get. So, you move ahead and again, you must search for jobs daily.

SUBMITTING YOUR PROPOSALS

You really have to take this part seriously as this is what will determine you making money or keep failing on elance.com

1.Keep your proposal brief and simple

Don’t start saying too much here, you need to appear professional. So the client knows you’re serious with what you do. Be brief and I mean that. Let the buyer know you read their briefs and understand what they need, who you are and what you do. 15/31



At the time of writing this report, external links are not allowed. So what you do is create a doc, stating you’ve attached relevant links pointing to jobs you’ve done(you can get the link to the portfolio of the designer you want to outsource to if you don’t have one already). Always attach a resume to your proposal.

2.Always state the time it will take you to complete job and ask for %50 upfront payment

When submitting your proposal, you are presented with two options; time frame and cost of the job. Here what you do is state when you’ll start and %50 of the cost and then when you expect to finish the job with %50 of the cost making a total of $100.

See this: I’ll start job 30th Oct, 2014 %50 cost($500) and finish 2nd Nov, 2014 %50 cost($500). Total($1000).

Doing this increases your chance to be awarded the job and even better, you can say “I will start the job 3days from now” this compels the client to award you the job because they want you to start the job within your stated time frame.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’VE BEEN AWARDED THE JOB

Now this is important because here is where you break or make your reputation as for each project a client closes, he leaves a feedback and a star rating. A negative star rating will hurt your reputation and that’s not what you want.

You need more clients and with your feedback, star rating, you get toappear often in searches and also get more clients. So what do you go about building a good reputation and making sure your jobs go down hitch free? Here are things to keep in mind;

1. Deliver your jobs on time

2.Stay in communication with client while working on their job

3.Do quality job

Now to deliver/ achieve your goal, you’ll need a designer with a good reputation and quality job. So how will you do it? Head to www.peopleperhour.com or www.fiverr.com and make a search.

Using fiverr.com as an example, let’s say your client on elance needsa logo. So you make a search for logo by typing on the search bar “logo design” (be sure to sign up with fiverr before doing this) and you should get lots of search results. Go through their samples, reviews and rating and pick one that appeals to you.

Then, you provide your selected designer the brief and keep in communication (I’ll advice you pick those who provide unlimited/ more than 5 revisions as your client might require this). When job is done, you deliver to your client and you get your final pay if he’s ok with what you provided.

Always make sure you have your selected designer before bidding, remember you need a portfolio and he can provide you that.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

1.Make sure you search for jobs and bid everyday

2. Don’t bid too high if you’re just starting out. (underbid)

This is similar to elance we have talked about but the difference hereis, you have to contest with other designers and at the end only one design is picked by the client and the designer payed. Hence, you arenot guaranteed to win any contests here if you’re outsourcing and might stand to lose more as you’ll have to spend to get what the client need designed.

And for those who are designers already, I urge you to participate in contests as it is fun and you get to learn a lot here. You can earn as much as $900 for a job that’ll take not more than 10mins to complete.

Freelancer.com is a great market place for anyone who wants to make money as a freelancer. It’s just like elance.com where you’ll have to bid for jobs.

The great thing about this site is you don’t have to search for jobs as often as you should on elance as you’ll be mailed on new available projects you can bid on and I advice you to always bid on these jobs daily.

Also apply all that we talked about on elance.com (from setting up your profile to bidding).

Payment is through paypal.

Another amazing thing about freelancer is. You can be an affiliate. That’s huge I tell you. Please take advantage of this. 23/31



BONUS:CRAIGSLIST.ORG

Craigslist is a great place to make money by outsourcing. It’s so simple; sign up with craigslist (you don’t need a great profile but details of you and a photo are required). However you must appear professional.

When you’ve completed your signing up process, searching for jobs is easy!

Visit site and on search bar type in what you want to outsource. Takefor instance “logo” and beneath, change “services” to “job” or anything related to jobs on the options.

You should see different results. At the time of writing this, here is the search I made and you can clearly see an individual looking for alogo and he/she is willing to pay £125! That’s cool cash as you don’thave to do this yourself.

What you do is contract job, visit fiverr.com and give details to your chosen designer. This shouldn’t cost more than $40 on fiverr and youshould have about $160 dollars all to yourself. Ain’t this wonderful?

Selling is another way of making money from graphics and envato.com is a great place to start. At envato, you can sell virtually any type of graphic work from website templates to logo to ecover templates to icons. Just anything graphics and payment is through paypal.

The concept of blogging is a wide one and we cannot discuss that here on this report as we are strictly on how you can make money from graphics. That being said, you can make money with graphics blogging by creating a blog and putting up contents on the blog (graphics related contents of course).

You can always outsource this. So, you need not pee on your pants lol. You just visit fiverr.com and find a good writer and for $5, you should have yourself a great content.

Make sure to update your blog daily with quality contents, of course that’s what blogging is about. Now how do you earn? By selling ad spaces, selling your own graphics, becoming an affiliate and selling other person’s graphics! It’s that simple.

You can as well write for other blogs and get paid (There are some blogs out there that are willing to pay as much as $100/ post).

So, get your domain and hosting and start blogging on graphics!

Now pay attention. This can only work for you if you’re giving back to the community so don’t go out there asking for what you earned not. However, if you’re giving to the community, all you have to do is ask and you’ll be surprised at how you’ll make money from this. Once again, you must be giving to the community to benefit from this.
