Graphic Lives: telling Bangladeshi migrant women's stories through

graphic narratives

In the first sessions, we practised using the tablet computers to take and edit photos and to write in different languages.

Then we talked about the past and present for Bangladeshi women in the UK, and what the future might look like.

Finally, we used the tablets to create stories using our own photos; photos from the internet; drawings; and writing in English and Bangla.

Graphic Lives: Telling Bangladeshi migrant women's

stories through graphic narratives

Women from the British Bangladeshi community in Hyde are exploring their own life stories and the history of their communities through life history, cross-cultural storytelling and digital skills, as well as visits to museums and galleries. The women are then creating digital comics using photographs; drawings; and text and sound in any language.

This is a joint project between Manchester Metropolitan University and Hyde Community Action and supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. For more information, please contact Sarah McNicol ([email protected]; 0161 247 5104).
