V I C E P R E S I D E N T ' S M E S S A G EDear Grand Hampton Residents, We have successfully completed our second BOD meeting and things are beginning to move along. Committees have been formed and are looking for volunteers and input from you. Please reach out to our onsite manager Rebecca Macone ([email protected]) if you are interested in getting involved. A list of committees is available at the clubhouse. I’m taking special interest in the Buildings, Grounds, and Recreational Facilities Committee (BGRFC). We’re looking at all aspects of our community and finding what’s good and what may need improvement. Our first meeting consisted of gathering ideas and creating an action plan. Our future meetings will prioritize those ideas/actions and work on getting things done. Anything from the parks to the clubhouse and from tennis courts to the common areas… We want your input. A few things currently in the works: · Getting bids for the common area landscaping. · Pressure washing the front entrance walls/signage. · Returning the tennis courts to pre-tornado condition. · Creating park/pool hours, rules and regulations. · Looking at pool heating and alternate options. · Placing a canopy over the clubhouse play area. · Sprucing up pool baths to meet Grand Hampton standards. · Adding a fence near Outpost Park to keep kids/balls from entering the street. · And much more. All items must meet board approval. Board approval will be determined based on need and funding availability. BGRFC meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm. Please join us.Spring is quickly approaching. Get out, chat with your neighbors and enjoy the weather.Sincerely,Jeff Knowles, Vice President, Grand Hampton HOA

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT
(CDD)
WHAT YOU SHOULD
KNOW A CDD is a governmental unit
created to serve the long-term specific
needs of its community. Created pursuant to Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes, a CDD’s main powers are to plan, finance, construct, operate, and maintain community-wide infrastructure and services specifically to benefit its residents. A CDD is governed by its Board of Supervisors which is elected initially by the landowners, then begins transitioning to residents of the CDD. Like all municipal, county, state, and national elections the Office of the Supervisor of Elections oversees the vote, and CDD Supervisors are subject to state ethics and financial disclosure laws. CDD business is conducted in the “Sunshine”, which means all meetings and records are open to the public. Public hearings are held on CDD assessments, and CDD budgets are subject to annual independent audits. The cost to operate a CDD is borne by those who benefit from its services. Property owners in the CDD are subject to a non-ad valorem assessment, which appears on their annual property tax bill from the county tax collector and may consist of two parts: an annual assessment for operations and maintenance, and an annual capital assessment to repay bonds sold by the CDD to finance community infrastructure and facilities. The Grand Hampton CDD primary area of common responsibility is wetlands, water management and drainage and oversight of Conservation Areas. The CDD is professionally managed by Rizzetta & Company and inquiries should be directed to Greg Cox at (813) 933 -5571. Residents are cautioned to not feed or otherwise entice alligators; this illegal practice can encourage their dependence, create a danger to humans and pets, and threaten their survival. Conservation areas cannot be encroached upon to extend lawns or views! Please contact the CDD with any questions on protected conservation
areas.

Grand Hampt n News
Hello, Lake Hampton Residents, Allow me to introduce myself: I'm Jim Hyde, resident of Savannah Point Court. Along with Mr. Jerry Hampton and Miss Zarah Diaz, we make up the basic three-person representation team for the Lake Hampton Sub-section Committee. We welcome all Lake Hampton residents who are interested, to attend an upcoming meeting at the Grand Hampton Clubhouse. As concerned residents, we have been attending the various HOA and CDD meetings to get a feel for what is taking place in our area of the Grand Hampton Community. Now that the HOA Board is comprised of ALL resident members, we are running our own show, so to speak, for all the concerns of the subdivision. These concerns include topics such as; lawn care and mulchreplacement, lamp post maintenance, vehicles parking in the street at all times of the day, Home painting and maintenance, HOA dues/fees, etc. etc. The next HOA meeting will be the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm. For this initial newsletter piece, as a parent, I want to remindeveryone to take responsibility as they drive through the subdivision and please keep the speed within the 25 mph limit. We have children and dogs playing and walking all over the place, so hazards abound! If you take your pets for a walk, please be courteous and pick up after them. Also, we have an active alligator population in Lake Hampton. Please be aware that the gators regularly go back-and-forth, between the large lake and the smaller ponds via the drain
pipes underwater and from crawling over land. Do not let your pets go anywhere near the water's edge, as they will be a tempting target for the gators. I have personally witnessed water fowl being attacked at the edge of the pond and have seen two gators fighting over lake space. If you do encounter a gator that is acting hostile you can report it to the county wildlife control office. Whatever you do, DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS. It is actually against Florida Law to do so, and will encourage the reptiles to become less afraid of humans. While we are on the subject of wildlife, please also be careful of the large Sandhill Cranes as they walk through the neighborhood. They can be hard to see at times, because of their grey colored feathers and the Lake Hampton roads being grey in color. Like Red Cardinals, these birds pick a mate for life, and it's very sad to see one by itself, when its partner has been hit by a vehicle. In closing, I'd like to mention that we all moved here to Grand Hampton for a reason----BECAUSE WE LIKED IT. We like getting away from the hustle and bustle. We like the peaceful lakeside views and abundant wildlife that nature offers in our own backyard. Let's take an active part and keep everything looking great and in a good state of repair, so we can enjoy many, many happy years here in our community.See You around the neighborhood,Jim Hyde

I Will Inspire 5kA Day of Celebration for Participants and their Supporters The I Will Inspire 5k Race was held February 16th in
Telecom Park. Over 500 people of all abilities participated in the charity event organized by the New Tampa Junior Woman's Club. The goal of the race was to inspire athletes to embark on a journey of self achievement, whether it was a first time runner or a recovering veteran. Partnering with the I WILL Foundation and Building Homes for Heroes, the woman's club's hope was to encourage people facing adversity to live their lives to the fullest by achieving goals that they thought were otherwise unattainable. The I Will Inspire 5k race was an emotional and uplifting day for all. v Photos courtesy of Constance Avellino Photos

rOtArACt Club
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for dedicated volunteers ages 18 to 30, who want to make the world a better place. Their goals are self development and fellowship through service. They strive to better our local and international communities while growing as leaders and young
professionals. They meet the first Wednesday at The Green Lemon on South Howard and the third Wednesday at Avalon Heights at 7:30 pm. Rotaract is a global network of young people who are changing the world with clubs in over 160 countries. Their recent volunteer events have included:Sweetwater Organic Farms: They recently helped Sweetwater Organic Farms, a community-supported urban organic farm and environmental education center, harvest and wash vegetables in order to distribute them to members of the farm and promote organic and sustainable farming. Feeding America: They went to the Feeding America warehouse in south Tampa, along with the Rotary Club of New Tampa Evening, in order to sort and pack donated food. Gasparilla 5K:
They volunteered at the 5K to distribute water to the participants during and after the event.Mud Run, Benefiting the Humane Society: Rotaract members assisted at the obstacle course-style marathon. They have chosen to focus on animal welfare as their main focus of service this year.Peace River Refuge: On the topic of animal welfare, they are currently planning a day trip to Silver Springs where they can help the Peace River Refuge Forest Animal Rescue build its sanctuary. The sanctuary is in the midst of a relocation and they have contacted the owners to discuss the Tampa Rotaract Club helping build habitats for the various animals they care for like wolves, bears, primates, etc. Their Social events have included:A pancake party: Last month they had a pancake
party, where members brought different toppings and they all made their "ideal" pancakes by mixing and matching the toppings into the batter. It was a lot of fun, despite the mess!Bowling: Members went bowling (after volunteering at Feeding America) in order to promote the fellowship within their club, and show off their bowling skills, or lack thereof. Anyone who is interested in attending meetings or events please contact the club via email at [email protected], or call Richard Crouse at 386-336-6348. Or you can "like" the club's facebook page and inquire though that. v
