Grand Canyon National Park is located in Arizona. The area around the Grand Canyon became a national monument on January 11, 1908. It is 1,218,375 acres (4931 km²) wide.

The Grand Canyon is formed by the Colorado River. Its unique geological structure attracts more than four million per year. Discovery Channel even takes it as the champion of the “natural wonders of the world.”

The Colorado River divides the National Park into two, the North Rim and the South Rim. There is no any bridges combine the two sides. So if you’re driving from one tourist center to another, you will drive 5 hours. But the straight way is actually 16 kilometers.

Most of the visitors will go to the South Rim at their first visit. That’s because the big cities such as Les Vegas are closer to it than the North Rim. And the North Rim has a lot of snow in winter. From October to May, the roads are closed

there. So there are less visitors in North Rim.

The best season to go to the South Rim is spring and fall. The average temperature is 15 degrees. And it seldom rains. The visitors are more less than there are in the summertime. It is a really suitable time to visit there.

As for the North Rim, summer is a great time to go. The temperature gets higher (average 25 degrees). But there is still some rain in July to September. So the best month to visit there is June.

You cannot miss one of the most important scenic spots in the park, The Grand Canyon Skywalk. It is built on a 1158m high cliff, which is nearly twice the height of Taipei 101. And it is a U-shape walk made of glass.

Standing on the Skywalk and looking down, you can clearly see the Colorado River flowing between the mountains. But in the first place, you must have enough courage to stand high!
