Think back to the modifying phrases you learned during the first semester (prepositional, absolute, and participial).
Modifying phrases add descriptive information to sentences. Modifying phrases are non-essential parts of sentences and the SUBJECT and PREDICATE
will never be inside them.
In the sentence below, underline the subject, circle the predicate, and put brackets around the modifying phrases (3).
