Graduating Student Survey Spring 2016 Summary The purpose of the Graduating Student Survey is to determine the level of satisfaction of graduating students with their recent higher education experience at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL). The graduating students’ opinions are solicited regarding which areas or issues should be improved to ensure that UHCL maintains the highest quality of instruction. The percentage of students who would recommend UHCL to family or friends is included in the UHCL progress card each year and is shown below. The online Graduating Student Survey is conducted in fall and spring semesters using Qualtrics survey software. UHCL launched its semi-annual survey to graduating students for the spring 2016 on April 4 and the survey was active through May 15, 2016. All students who applied for graduation during the spring 2016 semester were sent an invitation to complete the survey. The data can be divided by school, by degree level, by gender, by ethnicity, by program or any of the above combinations. The average completion time for the survey is 10 minutes. Would you still choose to attend UHCL?
Page 37, 08/24/2016 MLB-OIE: GradStudentSurveySp16BUS with comments.pdf
I believe that UHCL provides excellent educational opportunities and the professors and staff are diverse. The diverse culture enriches the opportunity forlearning.
Advisors don't try to know what they don't know. They blindly suggest what they know. Because of their wrong advise I remained in UHCL for 1 extra semester.Very bad on your part. I'm an international student, I don't have any scholar ship, my tution fees is too high for me. But this kind of response from college afterpaying lot of fees is not worthy. All students don't have equality under professor. Professors can't find the cheated candidates. Students who are studying willsuffer. Worst university ever. This university don't deserve that fees structure. I have answers with explanation for everything what I say. Just think because ofadvisors wrong advise I have to be remained in this college for 1 extra semester, how can you answer for this question. Who can fill my loss?
Good name recognition for my Major.
If I did an MBA I would probably go somewhere else because I know a friend who received a PhD from UHCL and still has not found a job.
I did not feel a professional business environment in most of my business classes.
While I somewhat enjoyed my time here, I was not impressed at the limited number of classes being offered and lack of environmental staff. I also wish I wouldhave gone with a school with a lot more social activities and organizations.
With the amount of credits I have received from varies colleges I have attended my tuition costs were increased to a difficult cost. The amount created a struggleto finish my last semester earlier by taking 18 hours at once to graduate so I wouldn't have the next semesters additional increases.
Love to talk to you in person
While I feel as though I have learned a lot at UHCL I do not think the overall quality of education justifies the cost. The majority of the time when doing groupwork others struggle a lot and I find myself having to do extra in order to secure a good grade.
If I decide to continue to achieve my Master's degree in Business, UHCL will definitely be my first consideration.

Would you still choose the same program of study?
Page 39, 08/24/2016 MLB-OIE: GradStudentSurveySp16BUS with comments.pdf
I like marketing and advertising and feel like any business degree provides great advancement opportunities
I might want to get additional knowledge in the information systems field.
I am not going to chose the same program of study because I do not want my education to be specialized in one area.
The field has a promising future and will need administrators in the future.
I would go for a PhD in Accounting or an MBA.
Accounting
It sits on the fence of business and science and makes it hard when trying to get accepted into a masters program. I will have to attend community collegeagain to take a lot of classes. I felt like this degree should be some sort of sub plan under general business, management or environmental science. Staff did apoor job of encouraging students to look for interships.
I would still attend the School of Business but Accounting can be boring at times.
I will become a lawyer.
Yes I enjoy working in a healthcare environment and this program provides opportunities for advancement in different administrative areas oh healthcare.

Would you recommend UHCL to friends and family considering college?
Page 41, 08/24/2016 MLB-OIE: GradStudentSurveySp16BUS with comments.pdf
Yes, I have recommended UHCL to family and friends.
Proud to be a Hawk
I always doubted UHCL, but I gave their graduate program a shot, as I heard that UHCL's graduate programs are far better than their undergraduate programs, but now I see their graduate programs are nothing to be proud of - at least the graduate HADM program. I don't mean this to be disrespectful, but rather tobring the truth to the table so this pattern of low moral and apathy in the program comes to an end.
It is affordable and it offers a lot of flexibility with night classes. However I had wished there were more day classes as I advanced into my degree but Iunderstand why there aren't many considering the students that come to UHCL are mainly those who work during the day.
It's low in cost.
Great support for CPA pursuit
Maybe
It's local and convenient for parents going back to school.
I have looked forward to attending UHCL since the beginning of my school career. I have already directed many people to look into UHCL for their 4-yearuniversity.
I have always recommended UHCL to others. The campus is convenient, the teachers have always been great and actually care about the students, andoverall I have never had any issues with the school. I have always heard great things about UHCL and the reputation the school upholds. Although it is growingI have still felt that it is able to more closely accommodate for those students that work and have families unlike other large universities.

Not a fan at all of proctoru. The prices and the overall experience was just frustrating. Would like to have a testing center where there was a full time proctorstaffed to take exams for online classes.Worst university, please don't spoil students life. I have explanation for everything what I'm saying. I already informed everything in the top section. If you wantto here something more, you can reach me any time. This is Abhitej Nangunoori my student ID is 1322331 contact number 7137666107.1. Raise admission standards (Actually review applicants thoroughly.) 2. Make the HADM graduate program challenging. (Do not hand out As and Bs at agraduate level.) 3. Take cheating and assignment-sharing seriously. (The same assignments are passed throughout the program.) 4. Have recruiters from theMedical Center visit the campus. 5. Promote internship and job opportunities in a way that doesn't repel students. 6. Let the faculty know it's alright to failstudents or to give them poor grades if it reflects their performance. The students in the graduate HADM program put in hardly any effort because they knowtheir professors will give them good grades anyway. This has created a sad atmosphere of apathy. 7. Have more exams and make them challenging.Presentations and papers can be too subjective and the students know this and take advantage of it. 8. Adopt these changes as soon as possible before thisprogram becomes a joke in the medical center permanently.I wish the classes are more flexible, because sometimes it is hard to sign up for the classes you need. The class time schedules are limited and students areeither forced to take at least 3 classes in one day and sometimes without a break. I believe this issue occurs more for juniors and senior students who have fewclasses left and they have to figure out how to not overlap their classes because of the limited options for their personal schedule or time preferences.More electives should be included. Some electives mentioned in catalog were not even available anymore. Please consider choices in professors. Some may have great credentials (Ph. D., years of experience) but is not the teacher type of person. Consider sitting-inin their classes to review and rate the way they teach. The amount of belittling and humiliation I have witnessed some classmates go through in class is not anexperience they should have.Tell the instructors to stop waiting until the end of the semester to assign research papers. The mentality that they are the one and only instructor that a studenthas for a semester is ridiculous. Four to five major class writing assignments at one time is over the top on stress and not necessary. They could assign papersearly so students can begin working on them from the start. The business school academic honesty policy is out of control as well. We know what academichonesty is. The attitude is that instructors are eagerly waiting to make an example out of a student for the slightest flaw in citing a paper or providing areference. I am not saying this because it was an issue for me, it is just a fact. I made A's on all papers. I would also like to say that the leadership honor societyseems like a sham. It would have been nice to know that I would have to jump through hoops to enjoy the full benefits of the program and to be inductedbefore paying my fee. This information should be made prior to taking someone's money, especially for those who already are low on time and money!!!!School of business proctoring requirements for exams is inconvenient. The point of an online class is for convenience, and the program does not support that. The "convenient" way of proctoring at your home is invasive and requires additional money. The only issue I have more recently encountered is the parking now that the school is now accepting more students. This is an issue that will likely continue togrow and need to be addressed soon. I specifically took all classes online this semester to avoid the trouble of parking even though I prefer face to faceclasses.Being a graduate student, most of my classes were in the evening. I understand most graduate level classes are designed primarily with working students inmind, but the way these classes are scheduled (only once a week...) made connecting with other students very difficult, and as a result, even after 4 years, I donot have many, if any, person in Houston that I would sincerely call friend. If younger students are experiencing similar situations then this should be treated asa serious issue/threat because in younger ages, it is our interactions with the surroundings that guide and shape us and make us learn what we are and wherewe want to go.
