3. Quota

▣ A limited number of students are offered admissions to each academic department or program. ▣ The department can refuse to receive students, if none of the applicants fulfil the

department's criteria. (Criteria may vary with a department)

4. Eligibility

▣ Master's Degree and combined Master•Doctorate Degree - Applicants should meet one of the following eligibility clauses : 1) The applicant and both parents of the applicant must have a nationality other than Korean and must have a Bachelor's degree or in the final year of the above degree program 2) The applicant must complete or is expected to complete 16 years of primary and

secondary education (elementary to post-secondary) outside Korea and must have a Bachelor's degree at the time of application.

▣ Doctorate Degree - Applicants should meet one of the following eligibility clauses : 1) The applicant and both parents of the applicant must have a nationality other than Korean and must have a Master's degrees or in the final semester of the above degree program 2) The applicant must complete or is expected to complete 16 years of primary and

secondary education (elementary to post-secondary) outside Korea and must have a Master’s degree at the time of application.

※ Students who do not graduate at the time of application must submit a certificate of graduation before entering our graduate school. Otherwise admission will be canceled.

▣ Korean, English Languages Proficiency(For Seoul Campus Only) ※ Test score certificates must valid until the admissions deadline(within past 2 years).

1) Applicants who have at least TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 4 (must obtain TOPIK Level 5 or above before dissertation examination)

2) Applicants should meet one of the following eligibility clauses and must obtain TOPIK level 5 before dissertation examination.

(1) Graduated (Bachelor's degree or higher) with a major in Korean in a foreign country (2) Attended university or graduate school in Korea for more than 2 years

(3) Applicants who have equivalent official Korean Language proficiency as above

3) Applicants who have TOPIK Level 4 or under are subject to additional screening process depending on the department.

4) Applicants who have TOEFL(PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80), IELTS 6.0, TEPS 550 or equivalent official English exam score can apply regardless of Korean Language proficiency. (Applicants who qualified for above clause must register and complete a Korean

language program in an institution that has been confirmed by the dean of the graduate school)

5) (Seoul Campus)the Department of Communication and Journalism : Regardless of clauses 1)~4) above, applicants must have TOPIK level 5 or above when apply, and must obtain TOPIK level 6 within 6 months after admission.

6) (Seoul Campus)KHU-KIST Department of Converging Science and Technology : With clauses 1)~3) above, TOEIC 730 or equivalent English exam score holders can apply.

8. Important notes

• Applicant can apply for one department and one campus only.

(When apply two campus simultaneously, admission will be canceled).

• The Graduate School of Kyung Hee University and Kyung Hee University are not responsible

for any disadvantages from typing errors and/or missing documents.

• The campus, department (Major) and course must be filled out exactly. Even if there is

incorrect part, the applicant cannot revise the application after admission.

• All documents must be originals accompanied by translations and notarization in Korean or

English, if it is in another language. - If original documents are unable to be reissued and the applicant wants to submit copied

documents, applicant must bring the original copy to compare the copy to the original for

certification.

- Every submitted document's date of issue must be within 3 months.

• Submitted documents and application fee will not be refunded under any circumstance.

• Applicant should submit other documents that Dean of Graduate school approves its necessity.

• If any ineligible/unqualifying factors are found during screening, the applicant will be expelled

from admissions.

• An applicant submitting the Certificate of Entry & Departure Records should submit a full

record from birth until now. Any false records or double passports will result in the revocation

of the application and admission even after matriculation.

• Students who are not graduated at the time of application must submit a certificate of

graduation before entrance into our graduate school. Otherwise admission will be canceled.

• According to article 36 of the graduate school regulation in Kyung Hee University,

international students must have medical insurance upon admittance until the end of

graduation on your own expenses. Medical insurance fee will be included in the semester

tuition payment with student counsel fee, etc. (International students who do not have

medical insurance are excluded from any scholarship and various programs.)

• According to article 37 of the graduate school regulation in Kyung Hee University, all

international students must get a health examination. Medical examination fee will be

included in the semester tuition payment with student counsel fee, etc. If an applicant has

another insurance, pay the fee first. Reimbursement process will go on.(further notice)

• Leave of absence for the first semester is not allowed. Also, only leave of absence owing to

circumstances beyond control such as disease is allowed while in school.

• The announcement for dormitory application(Seoul Campus) will be posted on the Graduate

School Website(http://gskh.khu.ac.kr) in July.

9. Application Fee

10. Scholarships(Applicants can apply for President scholarship and Excellent Research Scholarship)

A. Applicants must receive B grade (3.0/4.3) or above to maintain a scholarship for the next

semester. B. Entrance fees are excluded from all scholarships. C. Scholarships from educational expenditures for schools cannot exceed tuition fee. D. International students who do not have medical insurance cannot be scholarship grantees. (Medical insurance fee will be included in the semester tuition form.)

• The announcement for dormitory application(Global Campus) should contact Woojeongwon

(dormitory on Global campus) in person. (Phone number : 031-201-3640)

• For successful applicants of Seoul Campus, an orientation course(will be held at the end of

August) and some seminars are mandatory. International students who do not attend these

programs cannot get a scholarship and graduate.

• New students in the study fields of Science and Engineering, Medicine, and Arts are obliged

to take the Safety Precaution Course.

A. All graduate students in the study fields of Science and Engineering, Medicine, Arts, and

also students which take part in experiments are obliged to take the Safety Precaution

Course according to the rules of the Safety Management Regulations.

1) Course Completion Required Time : 6-hour courses per semester(online and offline courses)

2) Courses

a) Online courses : 12 classes (1st semester 6 general classes / 2nd semester 6

selective classes)

3) Certificate of Completion

a) Assessment test will be taken after the online courses and a score over 60% is

required for completion

b) Print 2 copies of the certification and keep 1 copy in the laboratory and submit 1

copy to the administration office.

B. Measures against students who do not complete the course

1) Will not be assigned or will get disadvantages in scholarships

2) Personal interview with his/her Professor

3) Disadvantages in insurance policies for accidents

A1. Yes, we have scholarships for foreign students.

Especially, there are ‘President Scholarship’ and ‘Excellent Research Scholarship’, which are

decided when the entrance point. However, students should be eligible to apply. Also, there are

other scholarships of internal, external foundations and institutions.

English or Korean translation notarized by a notary's office, verified by the Korean Embassy

needed). Chinese prospective graduates have to submit prospective graduation certificate(a

complete English or Korean translation notarized by a notary's office) and Authentication

certificate about prospective graduation certificate(www.chsi.com.cn). If students do not submit

the graduation certificate until the entrance, the entrance will be cancelled.

Q4. How can I get the recommendation letter?A4. Applicants have to contact department chair (contact information at guideline). Then, having

individual interview with him/her and get a recommendation letter. In the recommendation letter, department chair signature must be included. However, some departments (Korean Language & Literature (Korean linguistics), English Language & Literature, Political Science, International Trade, Journalism and Communication, Business Administration, Hotel Management, Tourism Science, Convention & Exhibition Management, Culinary Science and Food Service Management, Music, Fine Art) which execute the interview are not necessary to prepare recommendation letter.

Q5. How is the interview process?A5. Interview is offered by the department, so applicants should ask the department. The interview

schedule is uploaded on our graduate school website, so applicants should refer notice and attend the interview. The schedule will not be announced individually. If applicants do not attend the interview, they will be rejected the admission.

Q6. If I cannot go to the interview, what should I do?A6. If applicants residing abroad and attending the interview is impossible, applicants have to

contact graduate school office and applied departments in advance. In this circumstance, phone or video interview will be conducted. But it can vary according to the department.

Q7. Should I have to submit all documents until the deadline?A7. In principle, all documents should be submitted until the deadline. However, in case of

unavoidable circumstances, when applicants contact the graduate school office in advance, they are allowed to supplementary submission for specific documents. All documents are not allowed to return. If applicants get disadvantage because of the incomplete documents, it is their own responsibility.

Q8. My undergraduate major and the major I want to apply are different. Can I still apply?A8. Yes, you can. However, the ability evaluation of major is apart from the progress. After pass,

applicants have to take the prerequisite subjects.

Q9. What is post-admission timeline? Please explain the enrollment process in chronological order. A9. After pass, admission procedure is as follows. 1. Q10. How do students residing in outside of Korea make the tuition fee payment?

A10. (Seoul Campus)If applicants reside in overseas, they can pay with international wire transfer.

However, there are some problems such as identifying a depositor and a successful candidate,

discordance between tuition fee and real remittance, complex refund process and etc. So we

recommend applicants to use domestic paying through close friends or relatives in Korea.

However, there is no other way except international wire transfer, email(admissions_s@khu.

ac.kr) to us and we will inform you the information.

Q11. Is there any additional payment for President and Excellent Research Scholarship recipients to

make ?

A11. Yes, even scholarship students, entrance fee, insurance fee and medical check-up fee must be

paid. Refer to tuition fee bill and pay promptly within the tuition fee payment period.

Q12. I’m an Overseas Korean Foundation Scholarship recipient. Do I need to pay the tuition?

A12. Even if you are the recipient, you have to pay entrance fee, insurance fee and medical

check-up fee. The refund for insurance fee, etc. will be progress after the completion of the

tuition fee payment. Also, scholarship recipients have to submit the proof of the scholarship

to Graduate School office.

Q13. Is there extended period for tuition payment?

A13. Tuition must be paid punctually. If you fail to do so, the admission will be cancelled.

Q14. When do I apply for dormitory?

A14. (Seoul Campus)Please check announcement for dormitory application which will be posted on

the Graduate School Website in early July and January. The result will be notified you

individually at the end of July and January.

Q15. Can Certificate of Admission be reissued?

A15. No. The certificate of admission is issued only one time. Please note that it is one of the

most important documents in Visa application and you must be discreet to handle it.

Q16. Is medical and mental check-up mandatory?

A16. According to regulation 37 of Kyung Hee University Graduate School, all international students

must get the medical and mental check-up. Even students who already got check-up at other

agency must get check-up again.

Q17. Is insurance mandatory?

A17. According to regulation 36 of Kyung Hee University Graduate School, international students

must have medical insurance. International students who do not have medical insurance are

excluded from any scholarships and various benefits.
