Ike 4 th Grade Weekly News March 4 th - 8 th *In math, this week we will be adding and subtracting fractions. We will also be renaming fractions greater than 1 into mixed numbers. We will end the week by taking our Trimester 2 math assessment. *In social studies, we will be finishing our Cultures Around the World Research project and will continue sharing and gathering data from our Family Immigration homework. We also learn how people use and modify our environment in both positive and negative ways. *In writing, we will study informational text features and conduct our own informational text feature scavenger hunt! For grammar: we will take a short quiz on commonly confused words on noredink following completion of the practice segments for there, their and they’re. *In science, we will conduct a review of our Energy and Waves unit which we will check In class and use as our study guide for our Energy and Waves Unit post assessment on Wednesday. *In reading, we will finish Sadako and complete the focus questions for the last chapters. There will be NO official spelling words this week. We will instead be working on some new vocabulary words. Students who have been doing phonics-based lists will be working on words in class. This Week Notes and Reminders March is Reading Month! 4 th graders must read 125 minutes a week outside of school to qualify for the weekly rewards. They can earn a ticket to a Jimmy John’s baseball game in May if they read for all 4 weeks. *4 th Grade Book Project- Project choice is due Monday, March 4 th . Final project due on March 28 th . Please watch for Poetry Contest Note! March Incentive: Students will be working on earning 87% or higher on Class Dojo. Homework Please check your child’s green folder daily for homework.
