2, 3, 4 CLASS NEWS

— The Spirit of Polynesia Performance, Tuesday 16th June

Scarlet: We came to the Foster War Memorial Centre to watch The Spirit of Polynesia by a man by Bernard. We watched him do six dances, Hawaiian, Hakka, hip-hop, animal, hoop dance and the poi dance. The hoop dance was 7 small hoops that make living things eagle, horse, bee, flower, cat, snake, butterfly and a cactus. The hoops were all challenges that he had accomplished. He told stories about when he went around Australia with his three children Samuel Cooper and Thomas. Two of his stories where… We went swimming with wale sharks and you had to stay way away from them. He told a story of a man who almost got killed in a fight and escaped, now he in a metaphor to all Polynesia people. Bernard told us to always believe in yourself and others. I got to do the poi dance with Holley and Jaden plus other kid from Welshpool, Foster and Toora. After the show Bernard came and asked me why I was so good and I said I use the poi. We got on the bus and went back to Toora and then we had recess.

Mackenzie: At the Foster performance I learnt that there are a sometimes lots of languages in the one

country. Bernard, the man that thought us everything, did a dance that used seven hula hoops, he made an

eagle, a snake, a bee, a horse, a butterfly, a flower, a cactus and Mickey Mouse. There was an Hawaiian

dance, and a New Zealand dance which is called the

Haka. This performance was amazing and I wish I could

see it again.

Holley: Bernard went swimming with 5 whale sharks and a mantra ray with his 3 sons. He needed 10 volunteers for his show and Scarlet , Jayden and I were 3 of them!

Tyler K: He taught us to believe in ourselves through all

his stories he told. Now I know to believe in myself and I

want to explore the world and go to different

counters to learn other languages.

Prep /1 CLASS NEWS

Our sound focus for this week has been ‘Ll’: lizards like lollipops, l, l, l. We will continue to write letters to others using the correct structure. We are currently waiting on a reply to our letters to Mr Tyler. Our show and tell topic for this week has been ‘your favourite place to go’. So far we have had the chocolate factory, the aquarium and the zoo. In Maths we have been working on money and general number facts, particularly friends of 10 (two numbers that add up to 10). On Tuesday the students really enjoyed the performance on the Spirit of Polynesia. If you would like to visit the website with your child the address is: www.manaspiritof.com Keep up the good work with spelling words, reading and learning the magic words. - Miss Williams
