Chairman’s ReportAs reported on the front page the GraceWorkscorporate Golf day was a great success and ourthanks go to everyone who contributed, particularly the sponsors.

Penfold Buscombe, Australia’s largest printcompany was the major sponsor and thegroup’s contribution guaranteed the event was afinancial success.

We were pleased to have GW Yangon representative Victor PaulMinus as guest of honour for the golf day.

Mr. Minus spent time being briefed about GW in Australia and wasable to meet the GW board. He was introduced to many of the GWsupporters who were delighted to receive such a first hand briefing ofthe projects in Myanmar.

Thanks also to Ernie Sigley, well-known radio and former TVpersonality, who attended the awards presentation at the conclusionof the golf day. He entertained the guests with a light-hearted speechand stayed to enjoy the barbecue.

Later this month I will be leading a team of 10 people to Yangon to takepart in two orphans’ camps. During this major undertaking GW will hostapproximately 200 children at each camp. This is a special time forthese children most of whom have never had the privilege of travellingor staying at a camp overnight.

For many it will be the first time they will have three meals a day.

The GW team will lead the camp activities that will involve games andlearning activities.

Our team will stay with the children overnight for the duration of thethree-day camps.

GW projects continue to expand in Yangon and Mandalay. I will provide acomprehensive account of all our activities on my return. I will visit eachproject spending time with the leaders and workers to ensure ourresources are being administered efficiently.

We are looking to expand our micro enterprise projects that are anincredibly effective method to increase the opportunities forcommunities to become self-supporting.

Again I thank YOU our valuable supporters who have enabled GW toexpand and grow to be such an influential organisation in such ashort time. Without you our hands are tied and our ability to influenceis greatly reduced.

GW needs you and your support – thank you.

Peter SimmonsChairman GW.
