enhancement

SECTION – B
1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the college
The college has defined and cleared goals and objectives targeting its
vision and mission of enrichment of rural & backward students by providing quality
higher education to equip them with modern views, knowledge and social commitment
and to bring them to the main stream for Building Better Society and Stronger Nation.
With a view to impart quality higher education to rural & backward, college offers 11
courses [UG -08, B.Com., B.B.M. PG -03,] Learner centered teaching learning methods,
use of ICT, Internet, enriched library, experienced and dedicated teachers, and supportive

staff and rich academic ambience etc. are some of the features which ensure effective
teaching-learning and quality higher education.
To bring those students to the main stream of society and broaden their vision,
various co curricular, extracurricular, extension, cultural, and sports activities are
undertaken. Interaction with prominent personalities, social leaders, academic leaders,
successful persons etc. are arranged. Students are motivated to improve reading habit,
use of computer and internet. With a view to make students aware and responsive and to
develop them in different walks of life at national and global scenario, lectures, group
discussion, interaction sessions, etc. are arranged. Training Programs, Personality
Development Programs, Group Discussion, Seminars etc. are organized. Life skills and
soft skills are inculcated through various activities to bring global competency among the
students. This helps for improving job opportunities and competency for career
development.
Congenial and Conducive environment has been created in the college to enable
the students to prosper in their studies. As a result the performance in the examination
has been better than previous year.
Scholarships have been awarded to all SC/ST and OBC, economically backward
students, so that dropout rate must marginally diminished.
Project work, assignments and Field Based Studies have been assigned to students
to develop research attitude. And Cash Awards to Toppers in the final examinations were
given. The social forest and the gardens of the college were taken care and Eco teaching

is practiced through the gardening activities. Jathas, processions were arranged by the
students of the college to bring awareness amongst the people about the education and
the college in the town.
The NSS, NCC, Hoysala forum, Parivarhtana forum, Bhoomika forum, Ahanika,
Aapta Salahe, Scouts & Guides, Prajatantra, Sanjalane, and Literary forum, of the
college conducted many programmes taking the people of the town in confidence
enhanced the cultural history of this region.
To building better society and stronger nation, we targeted towards the mission of
providing quality higher education to the students especially women to equip them with
modern views and knowledge along with social commitment and to bring them to the
main stream and improve their role and involvement.
2. New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG)
PG Level: - Political Science. From June 2012.
3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction
Since June 2005 the semester system has been introduced by Mysore University
and syllabus has been changed, incorporating latest developments. Teachers are well
equipped themselves to face the new challenges i.e. latest developments in their subject
field, and also facilitated them to attend various seminars and workshops in their subjects.

4. Inter-disciplinary programmes started
Coaching classes were conducted for the Guest Faculty of the College to face NET
and SLET examinations conducted by UGC and various other universities. Under
different programmes sanctioned by Collegiate Education i.e, like Angla, Manavatha,
Stress Management, students were specially trained to face the future challenges of the
society. Special training for SDC and FDC examinations was conducted in order to make
the rural students better updated and confident. To strengthen student‘s concentration and
general health Yoga classes were conducted by the Art of living organization, Spoken
English programme was arranged for economically weak rural students who had come
from regional language background. Under the umbrella of equal opportunity center of
the college students irrespective of caste, class and community were trained in spoken
English and communicative skills. Basic computer classes for rural students were
conducted by our computer teachers.
5) Examination reforms implemented:
Our college is affiliated to Mysore University, here the examination system is
followed as per the University guidelines and regulations. Besides this classroom tests
after completion of the each chapter, regular assignments, and Internal Assessment test
were conducted to build the confidence of the students.

Student‘s Feedback is taken from outgoing students. The Feedback Form contains
certain questions regarding the expectations of the students from teachers. This is used
for understanding the student‘s opinion and expectations regarding the teaching-learning
process. Duly filled Feedback Forms by the students are collected and scrutinized by the
Principal. Suggestions if any are given to concerned subject teachers for the
improvement.

31. Activities and support from the Alumni Association.
Frequently Alumni Association meetings were conducted. Nearly 200 new
enrolments were made and their cooperation is the developmental activities of the college
is extremely good.

In the beginning of each academic year, i.e., during the time of admission parents
meetings with principal were conducted.
In the academic year principal call parents meeting twice/thrice in a year.
Some teachers have paid fees of poor students.

The special health awareness programme in association with Hasanamba Dental
College, Hassan, was conducted.
The Lions Club unit of the Hassan Taluk did conduct one day free health checkup
camp. Nearly 500 student‘s blood groups were traced out.

the NSS of the college.

37. Activities of the Guidance and Counseling unit.
Student welfare officer has been appointed to look into their grievances, and also
to guide and solve their problems by counseling. Separate counseling center is opened for
counseling needy students. 32 disturbed students were counseled in presence of their
parents.

By Critical Edge, Infosys and many Private Organizations campus interviews were
conducted and many students have secured placement during the year.

A special training programme at Shimoga by Collegiate Education of Bangalore
was conducted.
Deputed Office Superintendent for the administrative training in Bangalore
conducted by collegiate education Department. Deputed Office Superintendent and First
Division Assistant for training conducted the District Training Institution for updating the
Office to E-governance. Deputed Office typist and Second Division Assistant for Sakala
training conducted in the District Training Centre.

Wall magazines are come up twice in a month from all the departments. Students
are writing present issues in the wall magazine.

Irrespective of caste, creed and Community barriers ―Kannada Rajyotsava Day‖ is
being conducted .
The college has started a new tradition of felicitating Kannada activists on the
occasion of the National festival day.
Swamy Vivekananda, the great saint of India, his 150 th birthday was celebrated
through jaatha.
The most important day of modern Indian History, ‗Quit India Day‘ was observed
with a special lecture by a scholar.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar‘s birthday was celebrated.
A programme was organized by the Cultural Forum as ―Talent Hunt‖ to exhibit the
variety of talents

Students were organized a cultural programme called ‗Kala Utsav‘.
Cultural programmes have been arranged on the occasion of college day.
Tree Plantation programme was organized. About 250 Saplings were planted
inside the campus. A beautiful rose garden is also formed .
Organised National Seminar On ―Indian Marriage System: Issues and Challengs‖
Fresher‘s Day, conducted by the PG students.
Awareness programme on IAS/KAS Competitive Examinations.
Conducted a Free Ayush Medical Camp in collaboration with the Lions Club.
On the occasion of college day the retired noted Social Service personality of
Hassan District, were felicitated as ―Varshada Vyakti‖ (A Person of the Year) for
their sincere service to the society.
Students of History, Geography, Sociology, & Political Science are visited
Tourism Department, Jilla Panchayat, Old Age Home, Baala Mandir, Dist.

The AQAR report of the Academic year 2011-12 was included in the Re
Accreditation of NAAC report.

The college successfully runs Karnataka Open University Study Centre, (KSOU)
Karnataka Open University Study Centre. Students from remote areas, working
professionals and regular students get the opportunity to enroll in various courses offered
by the study center. Following courses are offered currently through the center.
1) B.A. & B.Com. (UG & PG)
2) B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and
3) Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.
(ii) Use of College Infrastructure for Conduction of various Examinations:
The college building and manpower is made available for various government and
other institution examinations on Sundays and holidays. This year SDA, CET B.ed.,
Navodaya entrance exam, Karnataka State Open University examinations etc., were held
at our college.

Outcomes achieved by the end of the year
Recognition and Appreciation to Our College as Ideal College in Mysore Division
Joint Director of Collegiate Education Department of Mysore division has selected
our college as Ideal College for providing outstanding contribution in the field of
education to the rural & backward students. Such laurels to the Institute are possible due
to unflinching support from our current staff, who constantly take dedicated efforts for
the all round development of our Institution. Our mission to educate students for career
success and our vision to transform lives and communities through learning will be
perpetuated in future also. Our institute is constantly excelling in research, scholarship
and education through its pillars of hard working faculty, students and administrative
staff.
Facilities for Information and communication Technology (ICT) to all departments:
In continuation with last two year this year too the college has continued providing
ICT facilities to all PG departments. Majority of the departments are provided with
independent computer and broadband Internet facility which is also open for access to
regular UG and PG students.

Placement Cell catalyzing the recruitment of students:
This year our college has witnessed a steady increase in the number of companies
offering training and recruitment to our students. Companies offered attractive packages
to final year students and more than 25 students were benefited by being placed in
various industries and offices.
New PG course introduced in Department of Political Science:
In order to cater and strengthen the growing need of humanities students from our
region, we added new ‗M.A. in Political Science‘ from this academic session.
Faculty is encouraged to Participate in International & National Conferences,
Seminars, Workshops, and Training Programmes:
The principal of the college encourages and supports faculty to participate in
conferences. This year faculty members participated and presented their work at
international conferences held at , Thailand, Malaysia, Rajasthan, Haridwar, and majority
of the faculty presented their research work in various seminars, workshops,
symposiums.
Organization of Study tours, excursions, industrial visits:
The college organizes various excursion tours and industrial visits throughout the
year for exposing students to gain practical knowledge. This year more than 03 tours
were organized by Department of Sociology, Economics, History and Geography.
