The Local Career Coaching Grant is an opportunity for K-12 representatives, postsecondary representatives, employers, and community-based organizations to come together to create a sustainable system for the delivery of:
Local, state, and national career information;
The educational attainment levels needed for those careers; and
Provide students and adults with an opportunity to participate in experiential learning throughout their education and training to make well-informed decisions leading to a path of economic prosperity

Eligibility is contingent upon meeting the following requirements:
At least one representative from K-12 education, postsecondary education, an employer, and a community-based organization;Multiple representatives from each category may participate
A letter of commitment is required to be submitted with the application;A written agreement in place that clearly defines the roles for each
representativeAn MOU will be required by the end of the first year of the grant and
may be submitted with an application

No more than five percent (5%) of the funds will be used for administrative purposes
An application must meet a majority – four of the six – eligibility criteria
An applicant’s goal is to close the gap between the eventual grantee’s data and the six statewide metrics outlined in the eligibility criteria by at least half
Example: If a grantee’s postsecondary enrollment is 30%, and the posted statewide metric for postsecondary enrollment is 60%, the grantee will have a goal of reaching a postsecondary enrollment of 45%

Eligibility is dependent upon the local community to meet the majority of the following criteria:
Postsecondary attainment rate below the state average of 43%;
Postsecondary enrollment below the state average of 60%;
Graduation rate in the bottom 75th percentile;
Unemployment rate higher than the state average of 3.6%;
Average hourly wages less than the state average of $19.67; and
Diploma or High School Equivalency attainment below the state average of 88%

Example: Overall diploma attainment percentage
If multiple K-12 schools are included within the grant application, then the applicant should add the collective cohorts together and divide by the total number of graduates:
School A = 90 graduates out of 100 total studentsSchool B = 85 graduates out of 100 total studentsSchool C = 87 graduates out of 100 total studentsTotal = 262 graduates out of 300 total students
Diploma attainment percentage = 87%

Planning Grant
One year grant timeline
Available to communities to intentionally map out available resources and leverage opportunities to build a sustainable career coaching strategy
Eligible for up to $10,000
Must meet twenty-five percent (25%) local match
Will not utilize more than five percent (5%) of the funds for administrative purposes
Planning Grant grantees will be eligible to apply for an Implementation Grant after the end of the one year Planning Grant timeline.

Local Career Coaching Grant: Scoring Rubric
Grant applications will be scored on the following sections:Program Introduction;Grant type and the reason why the applicant has selected the specific grant;Narrative – partners, activities, local match, integration, sustainability, collaboration,
data collection/reporting/outcome metrics, innovation, and employment projections;Budget; andAnnotated partnership list
Applicants must complete each section for either Planning or Implementation grants
Each grant may score up to 100 total points

Local Career Coaching Grant: FAQ
Community: the local applicant may define community in a multitude of ways. A community can be as small as one representative from each category, or as many as possible.
MOUs: the MOU must contain the roles and responsibilities of each representative within the grant application. No additional information is required within the MOU.
Local Match: A twenty-five percent (25%) local match must come from multiple representatives that are a part of the grant application. Not all representatives are required to provide a cash match. Up to ten percent (10%) may come from in-kind contributions Please keep in mind the five percent (5%) administrative cap

Local Career Coaching Grant: FAQ
Budget: an applicant may use a more detailed budget than the budget provided with the application. However, the budget used must include the sections found within the provided budget document.
Applying to both grants: an applicant must choose either a Planning Grant or an Implementation Grant for which to apply. An applicant may not apply for both grants.
Grant focus: each grant will have specific needs for their community. While it may be beneficial for communities to focus efforts on specific groups (i.e. adults), it is important to remember the purpose of both grants is to meet the needs of K-adult individuals.
