About College• Government Polytechnic, Bhagalpur was established

as Bhagalpur School of Engineering with the aim ofproviding quality education in the field ofengineering & Technology at par with nationalstandards. It persistently seeks and adoptsinnovative methods to improve the quality of highereducation on a consistent basis.

• It is spread in an area of nearly 50 acres with fourlush green campus namely Main Campus, KanchanGarh Campus, Shree Bhawan Campus and LakshmiBhawan Campus, not far from the bank of the RiverGanga at Barari. It is situated at a distance of nearly9 Km East to Bhagalpur Railway Station and 20 KmNorth to Naugachhia Railway Station. The Latitudesand Longitudes are 25.25990N and 87. 02740 E.

About College contd…• The institution was established on 31st May 1955 with

its name Bhagalpur School of Engineering under theDepartment of Science of Technology, Govt. of Biharwhich was later rechristened to its present name.Initially institution was started with Diploma in CivilEngineering with 30 intake capacity, which was laterincreased to 60. Diploma in Agricultural Engineering wasstarted in 1977 with 20 intake capacity, which was laterincreased to 30.

• In 1992, Diploma in Textile Technology & Textile Designwas started with 30 intake capacity and the branch wasrenamed as Diploma in Textile Engineering in the year of2008. Two latest and employment generating branches,Diploma in Electronics Engineering and Diploma inComputer Science & Engineering were commenced withintake capacity of 60 each.

It is a matter of great pride and honor thatGovernment Polytechnic, Bhagalpur has come thisfar and has become one of the apex institution inBihar to impart technical education. It wasestablished as Bhagalpur School of Engineering on31st May, 1955 with aim to impart high qualitytechnical education approved by all India Council ofTechnical Education under Department of Scienceand Technology, Government of Bihar.The main objective of our Institution is to advocate for the provision ofbetter policies for sustainable development. The Courses being offered atpresent are in the fields of Diploma in Civil, Computer Science, Electronics,Agricultural and Textile Engineering. I would like to remind the words ofRabindra Nath Tagore, who said “The great task of education is not merelyto collect facts but to know man and to make oneself known to man”.

Message from Principal Desk contd..Mahatma Gandhi strongly believed that “Education means drawing our best ofbody , mind and spirit in an individual”. What gives me pain is that Bihar whichis culturally so rich is economically poor. Here is an urgent need to drive awaythis poverty and inequality among our fellow citizens. Education, thusbecomes the way to remove poverty and promote progress with equality.Swami Vivek Anand has truly said, “ Give me a hundred youth of Character. Iwill change the face of the country”, My intention is to build an efficient teamof teaching faculty and students to make this college a leading institute ofadvanced studies on Engineering and Entrepreneurship. I look forward to theestablishment of constructive synchronization in work among all constituentsof G.P. Bhagalpur and exploring new opportunities in the area of technicaleducation.

Placement protocolIn general, placement procedures are adopted asper the requirements of hiring company. However,the common procedures of the campusrecruitment are as following: -

1. Pre- Placement presentation.

2. Qualifications of the candidate.

3. Written examination of the candidate.

4. Group discussion among the candidates.

5. Formal individual placement interview.

1. Final Years students who are going to pass out from the Institute by theend of academic year and seeking employment should register theirnames by submitting Students' Data Sheet in the prescribed formatgiven by the Training and Placement Cell. Only those students whohave registered are eligible to participate for the placement.

2. The eligibility criteria imposed by the visiting company will be final.3. Based on the directions given by the companies, students may be sent

to attend pooled campus placement drives in other colleges. Studentsshould inform their parents about the placement process, venue, andtimings in advance.

4. Students are required to express their willingness in writing forappearing in the campus recruitment process for a particular company.

5. Student are advised to read the all announcements through notice putupon notice board , whatsApp group & College website.

6. Student must inform Training and Placement Department if notinterested to appear for the campus drive.

Rules & Regulations contd..7. Student shall prepare their resume Highlighting their

achievement, Summer projects and any thing beyond thecurriculum which enhances the employability of the student.

8. Student need to submit passport size photographs.9. Students are expected to be on time as per the

announcements.10. Students not meeting the eligibility criteria of the hiring

company will not be allowed to appear in the recruitmentdrive .

11. Students should carry a folder comprising of:i) Two copies of resumes duly signed by the student.ii) Passport size colour photographs.

iii) Photo copies of all certificates and marks sheet.iv) College ID CardV) ID Address pro (viz-driving License, Passport, Pancard, Aadhar

card, Voter ID)

Rules & Regulations contd..12. Students should maintain discipline and show ethical & decent

behavior in every action they make during the placement process.13. Students found cheating or misbehaving in the selection process

will be disqualified from the placement drive.14. DRESS CODE: Students must be formally dressed and well

groomed whenever they participate in any interaction with acompany.

15. PRE-PLACEMENT TALKS (PPT): Students should be seated in thevenue 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the PPT. Studentsinterested in a particular company, can attend its PPT. Anyclarification regarding salary break-up, job profile, place of work,bond details, date of joining etc. must be sought from thecompanies during PPT or interview.

16. The copy of the offer letter is required to be submitted in theplacement office by the Company & the Students.
