• Rising public readiness and expectation for mobile public services
– Rising mobile penetration rate : 193.2% in February 2011
– Over 900,000 HK people going online via mobile devices every week
– 48% of respondents in a survey use a smartphone actively: doubles the global rate of 23%
– Over 250 Hong Kong mobile apps in iPhone app store
Overseas experience in providing mobile public services
• SeeClickFix iPhone app: US citizens to take part inimproving their living environment
• www.gov.sg iPhone app: Singapore Government todisseminate public information
OGCIO sets an example and launches Mobile GovHK• Mobile GovHK launched in 2010: a citizen-centric mobile web portal
• Provides links to other public services, e.g. mobile governmentdirectory, location-based weather report and traffic condition

• Majority of mobile apps are for information dissemination. Mobile apps for service delivery even more useful.
