Introduction

• GOstralia! was founded in 2000

• Traditionally we center on Study Abroad, Bachelor and Master programs.

• Over the last years there has been a growing interest in research in Australia - from

students but also academics – in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

• increasing need on information about Research in Australia

• launching the Gostralia! Research Centre in September 2014 to meet both the challenges

and the huge opportunities of this development

• strong tailwind and synchronicities

• November 2014: Australian-German Advisory Group

• December 2014: Australian German Research Cooperation Scheme signed by

Universities Australia and the DAAD (already over 250 funded collaborative

research projects in the last three years)

• We support high profile German HDR candidates offering a high quality counselling service

to only attract the best research students

• We build and deepen the awareness of the strengths and world class nature of the

Australian research space across all fields within German, Austrian and Swiss international

offices, faculties and non university research institutions

• We foster and deepen Australian-German research collaboration

• We build and deepen awareness of the excellent German Higher Education System, a world

leading research space and its close partnership to industry

GOstralia! Research Centre – Supporting HDR students

The GRC seeks to secure qualified HDR candidates for all forms of research qualifications,

through a comprehensive counselling service

Informing students about their various research options and destinations

guiding them through the available funding options and supporting the application

process

ensuring their application documents meet the requirements for submission

satisfy the high standards required by Australian researchers/ filter

Activities: a mix of direct personal counselling, special PhD workshops and webinars,

research fairs

Successful Projects:

GOstralia! Research Centre Scholarship Scheme in collaboration with our partner

universities – University of Adelaide, Queensland University of Technology, RMIT

University

Young Researchers Programme: supporting Bachelor and Master students to write

their thesis in Australia > sustainable flow of highly qualified research students

• The GRC is an Australia-German Networking platform for research in both countries

The GRC regularly is hosting its own networking events and symposia since 2015:

• March 2016; Australian Embassy Berlin: Australian German Research Forum:

• Since November 2016 we host the Australian-German Networking Research

Symposium in conjunction with Baden Württemberg International

• June 2018: 1. Australian Research Day at TU Berlin.

• 30% since the foundation of the GRC

• 100% of our applications get accepted into a PhD by the Australian university

• Over 90% of our students receive a full scholarship from the Australian university

• Australian-German Research collaboration: we provide access and we successfully use our

network to establish, foster and deepen Australian-German research links
