THE DEAD ,The Allman Brothers Band & TheDoobie Brothers

    Saturday,May 16,2009On Sale Friday,February 20 at 10:00 a.m.!

Seattle,WA Live Nation is very excited towelcome THE DEAD with guests the Allman

Brothers Band and the Doobie Brothers tothe Gorge Amphitheatre on Saturday,May16,2009 at 3:30 p.m.

After months of fan speculation bolsteredby an October 2008 performance at theChange Rocksconcert/rally for Barack

Obama in State College,PA and three recent viral internet vid-eos with band interviews and performance footage, the DEAD has officially announcedtour dates for 2009.This is marks their first trek since 2004s Wave That Flagtour.

Original Dead members Bob Weir,Phil Lesh,Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart will bejoined by keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Allman Brothers Band/Govt Mule guitaristWarren Haynes, both of whom played with the band at the Change Rocksconcert. The group first formed with lead guitarist Jerry Garcia as the Grateful Dead in 1965 andis legendary for their live performances. The Grammy-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famegroup always toured relentlessly, allowing their Dead Headfans to tape and trade theirexploratory,free-flowing concerts.

Weve got some unfinished business, says guitarist/singer Bob Weir.Everybody has awhole new bag of tricks;we have the body of material we worked up over the years andwe have a mind meld going on here and it would be a sin to let that just wither and die.Drummer Mickey Hart adds,A mind meld is a terrible thing to waste.Bassist Phil Leshsays,For me,its the question mark thats really pulling me inwhats gonna happen? When you walk out on the stage the possibilities are infinite every time. The musical pos-sibilities are infinite:there is no end to it,theres no back wall and theres no ceiling, theres

no floor. Its infinite and therefore you can still explore it till the day that you die.Drum-mer Bill Kreutzmann says,I get goose bumps just thinking about the possibilities.

Seeds of the idea of touring again were first planted in February of this year when Hart,Lesh and Weir played a Dead Heads For Obamashow at the Warfield in their nativeSan Francisco, and last year Weir,Kreutzmann and Hart performed at a post-inaugura-tion for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Always sonic and technological adventurers, the Grateful Dead formed in San Fran-ciscos electric Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in the mid-60s,combining their love ofbluegrass, country, electric rock and jazz to create one of the most iconic repertoiresin rock music.By touring continuously and never relying on radio hits or latest trends, the Dead and Dead Heads created an unparalleled bond.Fans were turned on to thegroup by live bootlegs and word of mouth, with many following the band on the roadfor whole tours.

Seattle,WA Live Nation welcomes PHISH tothe Gorge Amphitheatre on Friday,August 7and Saturday,August 8,2009.

Phish will extend its summer tour with 12additional dates. The announcement comeson the heels of the bands three-night stand

at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton,VA lastweekend.Over a massive,four-hour set, guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gor-don,drummer Jon Fishman and keyboard-ist Page McConnell ripped through dozensof crowd-favorites,said rollingstone.com.They kicked things off with some of their

most compositionally complex tunes, from theknotted prog-funk of Fluffheadto Divided Sky,where the groups quiet,

mellifluous interplay of guitar, drums, bass and keys suggests theyre as well-oiled of amachine as theyve ever been.

The New York Times, which ran two features on the concerts, noted:as the openingpassage of the anthem Fluffheadenveloped the room, the eruption of exultationwas not merely for the band itself but also for the millions in the Phish diaspora who

make up perhaps the most fervent fandom in pop music, while USA Today said:thefoursome built the backbone of its first set on old-school material, expertly navigatinghairpin changes and showing as much spunk as they ever have in this millennium.

The band has already recorded demos of 20 new songs and will enter the studio inApril to begin work on its new album with Steve Lillywhite (U2,Rolling Stones,DaveMatthews Band),who produced Phishs 1996 album,Billy Breathes. The Clifford Ball,aseven-DVD box set from JEMP Records/Rhino capturing the bands entire performanceat this landmark 1996 festival, just debuted at No.1 on Billboards Top Music Video chart.
