Many a local participated in the Father's Day rodeo in various events, proving the Consort cowboys to be a very talented bunch. From the local area we had com- petitors in almost every event and a few in the top spots. All results including the high point saddle donated by Richard Bonnycastle, will be published when the official results are released from the LRA office. Most spectators were happy to come and enjoy the weekend at the local event and claim that it was good to see so many families in attendance. " That's the future of rodeo right there, as long as there are families still coming to these sorts of things, rodeo's like this will last for hundreds of years," enthused a spectator. This rodeo was also the premier of the Moonlight Movie Madness put on by the Neutral Hills 4-H Rodeo Wranglers. The weather put a damper on this popcorn pic as there were only a dozen kids or families brave enough to tough out the storm. The Neutral Hills 4-H club was seen running around all weekend as they ran a bottle depot, rode in the grand entry, replaced bal- loons in the mounted shooting competition and were overall very good volunteers! They also put all their profit towards the Make a Wish Foundation in hopes of mak- ing some children's lives happier. On Sunday afternoon, as the mud settled on this years 48th annual Gooseberry Lake Rodeo, the grounds were busy with campers packing up from their weekend stay. The sight of hundreds of campers passing through the gates signified the end of another year at the local ro- deo, but also excitement for the upcoming summer sea- son as the sun decided to make an appearance through the clouds just as the string of campers emptied from the rodeo grounds . Coleman Kelts of Consort sees the mud below and hangs on tighter, scoring a 62 in Novice Horse Riding. Wild Pony racers had a tough job of slogging through the muddy infield As fast as 3Star could pump the water out... Mother Nature would drop it all back in!
