SCIENCE POP DAYS FOR YEAR 5 & 6
Students in Years 5 & 6 have been invited to join other schools to attend two days at Nimbin Central School to focus on science projects based the theme ‘Water’. The first day is a Pop-up ‘Project’ day on Friday 20 March concluding on the second day that is an ‘Exhibition Day’ on Friday 3 April for selected projects. Students in years 5 & 6 are busily working together on a water project to showcase on the 20 March with other schools sharing their ideas. The Exhibition Day 2020 has been designed to showcase the best projects from schools further a field in the Kyogle area combined with other local schools.
CLEAN UP OUR SCHOOL DAY
Students worked in groups to collect recyclable and non-recyclable waste. As
usual we did not find a lot of waste as our school community take home their
waste, or we recycle our food scraps in the compost bin and our paper in the
paper bins in each classroom. It was a fantastic effort for all our extra parents
who came along to help the groups stay on track and weed our vegetable
garden. Now we are able to see what is still growing well and plant up for the
next season. We would like to thank Ms McEwen for cooking us banana
muffins and a banana and pear loaf. Each student made a pledge to not only
clean up but step up to help our environment.
I pledge to:
use metal straws. Isla
stop using wrapping paper. I can use newspaper instead. Ruby
stop using plastic bags. Ava
stop buying plastic bottles. Fin G
keep my school clean. Hazel
put recyclable rubbish in the right bin. Maye
make sure there is no rubbish in the world. Arya
only cook with bio gas and not use packaging in my lunch box (nude food). Gryff
use paper or material bags more. Fin F & Frankie
grow a fruit tree. Jakobi
not use plastic straws. I will only use recyclable straws. Ari
stop using plastic bags and only use re-usable bags. Hayden
