Use quotes to search exact phrase
Do you know the name or exact phrase you're searching for?
Put it in quotation marks.
For example: Try searching for your name without quotes, then put your name in quotes and repeat the search. What happens?
Or try searching for song lyrics with quotes vs. without.
More ways to limit search results
For this simple search, I will show you how the search results can be refined.
For example, as shown in this image, results can be refined by grade level.
Search for missing letters or words with an * asterisk
Sometimes you may know what you want to search for, but not the exact word or phrase. Google’s solution: a Google Search using the asterisk as a wildcard, meaning you can substitute any word or letter for an asterisk and results containing all of the possible alternatives that the asterisk could stand for will be returned.
Google Calculator Did you know? You can use Google for calculations. Enter the math query into the search box, or, type "calculator" into the Google search box to open a calculator.

Need to look up the definition of a word: type definition:word into the Google search box.

Tip: Did you know you could make Google search for faces only, by adding a small bit of code? When you go to Google Image Search, enter your query and then add “&imgtype=face” (without the quotes of course) to the end of the URL.

TIP: You can search the page for the key word or phrase.
Windows PC users: Use CTRL-F to find a word on the page
Mac users: Command-F, aka Edit--Find
Alternatives: Chrome has a "Find in page" option in its browser menu.

Set a Timer
Did you know that you can use Google as a timer? Just type "timer" into Google to launch an embedded timer.
Note: May work differently on the Google App installed on mobile devices.
Search for related websitesDo you have a favorite website, and want to find similar websites. The related search finds similar websites to your favorites.
Searc by filetype Why specify? Suppose you know the document you are looking for will be in .pdf format, this could help narrow your search results.
Using search operators: Minus sign
Make your search more specific using search operators.
For example, the minus "-" sign instructs Google to eliminate certain terms from search results.
Sample search: Salsa –Dancing
No space between Minus sign and word.
Check movie times on GoogleClick on any of the Movies for local showtime information.
TIP: to check movie times for another city/location add that to the search.
Use Google to search for AppsClick or tap on "Apps" and the search for a timer is now a search for an App that works like a timer.
