Introduction.Project Fi is Google's program to provide fast and easy cellular service directly to phones. It actively switches between the networks without any user intervention.
Project Fi also leans on Wi-Fi, and lets you both call and text when connected to a Wi-Fi network.

How it worksProject Fi intelligently connects you to the best network at your location whether its Wi-Fi , 4G LTE or3G networks. It dynamically determines based on several factors which network is better.
Network switching to wifiProject Fi automatically switches its users from a cellular tower to a free Wi-Fi system with a signal strong enough to stream video and music, another effort to save people money. This could mean a smartphone will shift to a Wi-Fi network downloading at 10 megabits, even if a cellular network is available at 30 megabits.

Technology Functioning Inside FiMulti IMSI Sim CardSeamless HandoffCore voice networkModified Radio Chip
Multi IMSI Sim CardThe International Mobile Subscriber Identity is used to identify the user of a cellular network and is a unique identification associated with all cellular networks. It is stored as a 64 bit field and is sent by the phone to the network. It is also used for acquiring other details of the mobile in the home location register (HLR) or as locally copied in the visitor location register.
Multi IMSI Sim CardUsually the sim card has only one IMSI no but in case of Project Fi sim card there can be 10 different IMSI nos.
Thus it can connect to potentially 10 different networks at a time.

Seamless HandoffAs Project Fi connects to 3 different kind of networks 3G4GWi-FiSo it requires a lot of handoffs switching between these.
Google AS MVNOMVNO is MOBILE VIRTUAL NETWORK OPERATOR. MVNO resells the services from traditional operators.Google acts as MVNO for switching between different cellular networks .
Seamless Handoff
Google core voice networkRather than directly connecting to the service provider Project Fi maintains an active connection with Google core voice network. Its the duty of core voice network to successfully perform handoff properly.
Modified Radio ChipProject Fi Uses Qualcomm Third Generation LTE Chipsets that support LTE Advanced with LTE Carrier Aggregation with HSPA+ as a core. The MDM9625 chipsets are Implemented in a 28nm manufacturing process, the chipsets will feature significant improvements in performance and power consumption from previous generations and provide support for multiple mobile broadband technologies to deliver a best-in-class mobile broadband experience for smartphones, tablets, ultra-portable notebooks, portable hotspots, dongles and CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment).

Availability.Project Fi is currently available in United Sates Of America only on a invite only basis.
Google plans to extend it to other countries too.
Subscription Plans.Project Fi is having a base fee of registration of $20 only and the costs only $10 per GB of data used. The international roaming in 120+countries and with no extra charges in this network.Cashback for unused data

ConclusionProject Fi is certainly the first in a wave of products to disrupt the traditional operator business models, and google will be watching closely over the years to come to see how to change and improve it over time.
