Introduction

• Project Glass is a research and development program by Google to develop an augmented reality Head Mounted display (HMD)

• It is the idea that the Internet and computers will be accessible anywhere at any time without having to use one's hands

• Google glasses have the combined features of virtual reality and augmented reality

• Project Glass was started by Babak Parviz and is being developed by Google X Lab

• Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like format hands- free. It can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands and uses Google's Android operating system

• Display content on video screen as well as respond to voice command of the user. Uses 4G/3G technology

• Brings the internet world and real world together. It has a micro phone , camera and a screen

• EyeTap is a device that is worn in front of the eye that acts as a eye to record the scene available to the eye as well as a display.

• This structure allows the user's eye to operate as both a monitor and a camera as the EyeTap intakes the world around it and augments the image the user sees allowing it to overlay computer-generated data over top of the normal world the user would perceive.

• 4G is the fourth generation of cell phone mobile communications.

• 4G Technology is basically the extension in the 3G technology with more bandwidth and services offers in the 3G.

• This system provides higher data rates of 100 Mbps in mobility to 1 Gbps while stationary.

• Augmented reality has many applications, and many areas can benefit from the use of AR technology. AR was first used for military, industrial, and medical applications, but was soon applied to commercial and entertainment areas

• It is computer-simulated environments that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world, as well as in imaginary worlds.

• Virtual reality is often used to describe a wide variety of applications commonly associated with immersive, highly visual, 3D environments.

• The possibility exists to have films and television programmes which are watched with a head-mounted display and computer control of the image so that the viewer appears to be inside the scene with the action going all round.

pouch or pocket.

• A useful technology for all kinds of handicapped/disabled people.

• Can be easily broken or damaged. Users will have a tough time taking

care of it.

• It may lead to accidents while driving.

• Privacy of people may breach with  glasses.

Disadvantages

• Google glasses are basically wearable computers that use the evolving familiar

technologies that brings the sophistication and ease of communication and

information .

• Hands free technology by Google.

• Assistance to disabled individuals.

• Google Glass is fashionable and frame colors are available in gray, orange, black,

white and light blue.

• Google glasses should be used with caution and should not be used to invade

privacy of others
