Executive summary for non-profits

Goodwillion is a peer to peer fundraising platform where anyone can auction off a meeting or an experience for a charitable cause of his or her choice. It’s a new and a unique way for charities to raise money. Why a new way? Because now you can involve your community not by asking money, but by asking to auction off something of a different value – your time and experience.

How does it work?

Goodwillion works like an eBay, but the auction item here is an interesting meeting or an experience. You can offer an interesting experience and others will bid to obtain it. The winner of the auction will pay and the money will be donated to a non-profit.

Who chooses the cause?

The person auctioning off a meeting with himself or herself or an experience chooses the cause they would like to support.

How can a non-profit involve their community and be sure their community will auction off a meeting for their cause specifically? Easy:

All non-profits and charitable organizations have their own page and everyone who visits their page and registers will automatically create an auction benefiting this particular non-profit.

How can a non-profit or a charity be sure that if they attract a unique special experience or a celebrity they will be able to raise a significant amount?

They can with the Raffle model for unique experiences – everyone can donate at least $1, so a lot of people can participate in a raffle. The more contributors, the more money can be raised. The more one person donates, the more chances they get to win that raffle. For example $552 pledged of a $1,000 goal.

Are all funds raised through the auction or a raffle donated to a cause?

Absolutely! Goodwillion doesn’t take any of the proceeds, we only deduct the electronic payment systems fees, such as PayPal or WePay.

Example of a recent successful fundraising campaign:

In August, Hacker Dojo was raising money to keep their building due to zoning requirements. They involved their community and auctioned off about 50 meetings, and raised over $6,000 in just a few weeks!
