In addition, hundreds will be rejoic-ing together on Hayling Island, a won-derful resort location off the southerncoast of England. Mr. Armstrong, to-gether with the other ministers of Brit-ain, inspected these fine facilities to-gether. They found adequate auditoriumspace, dining halls, boothsfor housing, mothers rooms with trained nurses tohelp care for children. There was everysport and recreational facility conceiv-able, providing a wide variety of activi-ties in the little leisure time availablebetween services.

    Letters to the EditorTh e Summer E du ca t io na lP r o g r a m A g a i n

Many, many thanks for the SummerEducational Program. Throughthe kind-ness of Mr. Carlton Smith, our son wasable to at tend. W ha t a change H ewent away our little boy, and cameback a young man, with patience, selfassuredness, good manners, good pos-ture, and appreciative of thing s he oncetook for granted (like a clean, whiteshirt iroricd and starched). He calkedfor hours, telling of the things they saw,the various activities, the other campersand counsellors, and everso often w ouldinterject with, I miss them, and I misscamp. H e seemedto enjoy every minuteof camp. H e said he had the honor ofputting the paddles away in storage.Like all growing boys, he was starving

to death, but I was thankful that heexperienced a bit of hunger. His eatinghabits needed adjustment as he ateoften and too much. He is looking for-ward to going again next year. W e shallpray that he can, also that many morecan be accommodated next year.Woman from Atlantic Highlands,N.J.

Please thank Mr. Garner Ted Arm-strong for the hi-Lites from the sum-mer camp, and for his accompanyingletter. How thrilled I was to learn ofthe activities and training at the camp,

and how happy I am for those childrenattending. I thank God that He hasmade possible such a wonderfa1 oppor-tunity for children in this topsy-turvyevil world where they are surroundedby wrong ways, and ideas I know Godsrich blessings will be on this phase ofHis Work as it is on all the others Wom an from Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Enclosed is a check I had not ex-pecced co send, buc I have been receiv-ing money I had not expected to get.In the last two months Ive been usingmy Bible as a guide for life. Ive stoppedsmoking and drinking, started payingthe tithes, and every time a new situa-tion arises, I consult the scriptures and

plan my actions accordingly. In just thelast two weeks my health has improved,Ive started gaining weight, the ratingsfrom my supervisors have gone higherthan they ever have, and people with

long forgotten deb ts are paying m e backwith interest and wont take no for ananswer.

Today I was baptized by Mr. Marxand I am writing you right away, intears. D ont get upset,I am only cryingbecause Mr. Marx and Mr. Freibergshave already left. I wish I could havegone with them. They are such wonder-f u l people. You also at Pasadena writeme such wonderful letters. It is thistotal yieldedness to God that attractsme and the wonderful spirit that speaksthrough all of you, that is why I loveso much to be with you people. Somaybe you can understand some of mysadness now, ru have ro realize that allof you are so far away. But I am com-forted by the thought that Jesus Christhas lead me to His Church and that Iam therefore joined to all of you inspirit.

If it is at all possible, I would liketo see you. I am all alone here now andam having no more fellowship with theAdventists. They are afraid of me,avoid me, or become angry at me, onlybecause I have answered the call ofGod. But that is the way it has to be

responsibility of ALL of us comes in.You can really serve by MAKING AS

If you are CLEAN, NEAT, ORDERLY, and

will be doing a real SERVICE to yourbrethren

If you are cheerful, cooperative, hum-ble, easy to be led, EASY to be directed,A LWAY S following suggestions and in-structions from the deacons and theirassistants, if you are ALWAYS really illastrating the very FRUITS of a totallychanged, converted l i fe , it will makeyour Feast I M M E N S E LY more enjoyableAnd that joy will not only be yours, but that of your brethrenas well

Do you see? Thats the way YOUcan serve By bei ng as cooperativeYOURSELF as Christ in you would be,and by offering toH E L P others w hereverpossible- you will havea tremendouslyenjoyable timc I absolutcly guaranteeit God proves to us we are fur happier

    when were DOING, WORKING, ACCOM-P L I S H I N G ,GIVIN G, SERVING, than whenwere bezng served

LITTLE WORK AS POSSIBLE FOR OTHERS

    FULLUW UIRELIIUNS k A l l H h U L LY, YOU

    W h a t Is YOUR GOAL a t Th e Feas t ?Think carefully W hy are youGOING

to the Feast?Certainly NOT just for the scenery

A L O N E , are you? Are you going to theFeast to go hunting, fishing, boating orhorseback riding? Are you so look ingforucard to some of these activities thatthey are becoming your primaryGOAL inattending the Feast?

What about fel lowship? Are you so

eager to renew old acquaintances, andm a k e new friends, t ha t you are justexcited about i t? Are you makingT H I Syour primary GOAL at the Feast?

If you are-YOU HAVE A VERY

God HAS gievn us FINE facilities. H ehas added m a n y additional attractionsin the form of beautiful scenery alongthe way, and while were attending, andin the formof fine recreational facilities. But these things are very much sec-ondary These things are just a fewof the added little fringe benefitst h a t God gives us as an ADDITIONALblessing

The really B I G REASON for your beingat the place God has placed His nameis, first of all, because G O D C O M M A N D SYou T o BE THERE-and you desperatelywant to be OBEDIENT to HIM

In explaining the PLACE where yoursecond tithe is to be spent, God says,And t hou shalt eat before the Lord t h yGod, in the p lace wh ich H e sha ll chooseto place His name there . . . (Deu t .14:22 , 2 1 ) . But WHY? What is thePIJRPOSE? What is your GOAL in obey-ing this command? God answers

    WRONG GOAL

. . . THAT THOU MAYEST LEARN TO

    F E A R T H E LORD THY GOD ALWAYS (Deut . 14:23).

Lets face it, brethren. W e do nt learnto really FEAR God if were spend ingTO O M U C H time on mere recreationalactivities-IF THOSE ACTIVITIES AREKEEPING US FROM OUR PRIMARY PUR-POSE IN BEING AT THE FEAST IN T H EFIRST PLACE

You will learn to FEAR God by beingobed ient to Hi s commands-and byHEARING of Him, f rom HIS O W NSPIRIT, as HE, H I M S E L F, inspires Hisown chosen servants toTALK DIRECTLYTO YOU

    I H I N K f it in tha t way If you knewthat GOD A L M I G H T Y, and CHRISTHISSON were going to be O N T H E P L AT-

    Y O U - would you be out in the camp-ing area? Would you be boating, swim-ming, or fishing? Would you behorseback riding DURING SERVICES-ifyou K N E W GOD W O U L D B E THERE?

If you have A N Y shred of respect andawe for God-if you are evenr emote lyconverted-You CERTAINLY WOULDN O T Rather, you would make it aspecial, vital, IMPORTANT poin t to bein EVERY service-dbed of time Youwould be quiet, attentive, eager to learnYou would come equipped with a Biblewith easy-to-read type, and a notebookof a more permanent nawre so you cankeep it from year to year, and youwould be in your seat with pencilpoised, to hear the words YOUR MAG-NIFICENT CREATOR nspires-the defi-nite, specific, particular words HE wantsYOU to

    hear at justT H AT

particulartimeSO PLAN to be in EVERY SERVICE,

brethren THAT s the reason you areG O I N G to the Feast, isnt it? And,f rankly, brethren-and I do write withthe authority of Jesus Christ-IF YOU

    FORM-PERSONALLY S P F A K I N G WITH

DO N O T I N T E N D TO B E IN THE SERV-ICES-YOU SHOULD NO T COME TO TH EFEAST Y O U HOU LD STAY HOME-soyou do not set the WRONG EXAMPLE forothers who may be weak, and may beled off by a wrong influcncc

    M a k e it y o ur a i m to be in the servicesEach one will be totally DIFFERENTthan the one before W ha t a shame ifthe only sermon preached on child rear-ing, or family problems, or prayer, orprophecy would be JUST THE EXACTO N E YOU NEEDED SO BADLY-and youM I S S E D it because you let the cares ofT H I S P H Y S I C A L W O R L D get in your way

And by way of admon ition, breth renof Gods Church, there will bt. GOVERN-MENT during the Feast. Any foundlounging around the camping areas, orin their cars, or pursuing their o w nactivities will be asked W H Y by Godsdeacons and assistants. So lets show ourHeavenly Father we reallyM E A N it this

year Lets NOT MISS A SERVICE W ewill fellowship togethe r, but rememberour FIRST fellowship is with God theFather, th rough Christ His Son, andt h e n with the brethren, but only in andthrou gh Chris t ( I John 1 3 ) .

    PREPARE Your Offer ing

    Remember, brethren-God com-mands us N O T TO C O M E E M P T Y to HisFestival, but to plan ahead, and beprepared tu give a generous offering,according to the BLESSING H e has givenus

Thre e times in a year shall all thymales appear before the Lord thy Godin the place which He shall choose, inthe Feast of Unleavened Bread, and inthe Feast of We eks (Pe ntec ost), and inthe Feast of Tabernacles, and theyshall not appear before the Lord empty(Deu t . 1 6 : 16 ) .

God says each is to GIVE, as he ISable (verse 17) .

    But frankly, brethren, m u n y of youhave been putting into the SPECIALA N N U A L O F F E R I N G S at the FEAST whatyou would have sent in if you hadremained home, in the first place

Each yenr, our Busincss Manager, Mr.Ma ttson, noticesa sharp decline in tithesand offerings just before and duringthe Feast These weeks, and for aboutone month, becomes truly one of themost SEVERELY DIFFICULT times forGods work Th e reason is self evide nt.Many, anticipating giving a large offer-ing ut th e Feast , are saving money theyWOULD have given as offerings A N Y-WAY, even if they could nor haveattended

Then, even though we have made atruly fine showing with our offerings inpast years-these special offerings, in-stead of bringing in this amountOVERA N D ABOVE normal income-merelyB R I N G INCOME U P T O NOR M AL

Lets N O T let this happen this yearBre thren of God Jesus said where ourTREASURE Is-that is whe re ou rHEARTSwill be WHERE I L L YOUR HEART B E

    own hip pocket? Or in the W O R KC H R I S T S DOING?

I f you leave home, temporarily dis-con t inu ing your normal tithes and offer-ings as you journey to, attend, and thenretu rn from the Feast-then you havetemporarily severed that vitally needed,C O N S TA N T flow of income that MUSTkeep coming in to keep this great andgrowing work going

Even though giving a sizeable offer-ing-IF tha t offering only repres entswhat you would have given A N Y WAY,with just a LITTLE over-then it willjust barely help us struggle throughano the r financial bind-but it willNOT

    Should You Welcome Visitorsat Church

Some member s still d o not utzderstand about inviting, orwelco ming , visi tors t o our Ch urch services or br ing ing NON-

    members to t h e F E A S T OF TABERNACLES.by Herbert W. Armstrong

ECENTLY a non-member came asa visitor with a member to theR Sabbath service of one of Gods

Churches. The visitor wasa neighbor ofthe member.

At the close of the service, anothermember took it upon himself to speakto the visitor, and, it was reported tome, in a not too friendly tone, tell himnot to come again Nat urally the visitorwas hurt and offended

I do not have all the details. It couldbe, I suppose, that the visitor was hos-tile to the sermon and showing a wrongspirit-but cvcn so the proper conducifor a member would be to keep friend-ly, and call the minister or an elder. Ido not know whether the member whobrought this visitor had asked his neigh-bor to come, or whether the neighborhad asked i f he might at tend. I t wasreported. however, that the visitor wasa radio listener-perhaps a reade r ofT h e P la in Trath-and supposedly in -terested.

    I M P O R TA N T You Unde r s t and

I had thought that all members un-derstood the Biblical teaching on thispoint, and our church policy based onit-and h o w, and why, this policy dif-fers from the practise of the churchesof the world.

However, when we realize our mem-bership is increasing at the phenomenalrate of 30% a year-doubling each 2years and 7 months-it becomcs ap-parent that many of you have come insince this policy was last explained.

It is IMPORTANT that every memberunderstand.

    T h e Worldly Custom

It is the custom of the churches ofthis world to invite the public to comein and worship with them. Ofte n yousee signs on church buildings: Strang-ers Welcome. Driving your car throughthe main street of a town on a high-way, you invariably will see signs point-ing to a church a block or two to theright or left-inviting visitors.

If it is a fundamentalist evangelicaltype church, its members will argefriends, relatives, and strangers to at-tend. Thi s is their way-but not Godsway-of goin g into all the world to

preach the Gospel. Instead of going t othe world, as Jesus commanded, theyinvite and urge the world to come t ot h e m . They think their church servicesare the places to get people interested,or to get them saved.

First of all, it is very important thatour members realize just how almostall people, outside the few of us inGods true Church, look at this. Youneed to know, and understand, howTHEY FEEL, and how they are goingto react toward us.

Since the custom-taken for gran tedby ilie~ii-is to urge the public to at-tend regular chur ch services-since itis CUSTOMARY to ma ke strangers W E L -COME, most people will take offenseif we do not invite them, and makethem welcome-that is, if they kno wwe have a Church.

I f R non-member d o e s , for any rea-son, happen to visit oneof our servicesand does not receive a warm and friend-ly welcome, cant you see he will feeloffended? He will go away saying, Theycertainly are a cold, unfriendly group;or, So Im not good enough for them, huh? or, I guess I can take a hint-Im not wan ted, there Or, Well , Isure dont want any of their brand ofreligion

Th e established custom of th e world schurches says, in effect, World, comeand fellowship with us. W e WELCOMEthe fellowship of the world. Of coursethey do not realize Gods Word says:Y e adulterers and adulteresses, knowye not that the friendship of theworldis enmity w ith G od ? whosoever there-fore will be the friend of the worldis the enemy of God.

    But REMEMBER-to the natural, un-

converted m i n d , this worldly customSEEMS RIGHT. And if a str ange r doescome to one of our services and re-ceive a cold shoulder he will certain-ly think we are WRONG.

THEREFORE E NEED TO KNOW, notonly about Gods Way for our ownservices, but also HOW TO TREAT THEOCCASIONAL STRANGER I N O U R MIDST.So read every word carefully.

    How W e A r e DIFFERENTRight here is a basic, fundamental

    difference between Gods Church and

the worldly churches-between theBIBLEway, and the paganized so-calledChristian way.

First, Christs Great Commission isto t ake the Gospel t o the world--GoYE, H e said. Hav e you ever noticedthat nearly all of Gods churches haveto assemble in rented halls, while near-ly all professing Christian churches ofthe world have their own church build-ings? Even a small local church of nomore than 35 to 75 in regular attendancewill have its own church building. GodsChurch, obeying Christs command ex-plicitly, goes t o the world-by radio andthe printing press. This costs money-a lor: of money, now that we reach peo-ple on every continent, world- inide.

We, therefore, use Gods moneyGods way-in the purch ase of facilitiesfor the mass spreading of th e Gospearound the world. So far, we have iiucbeen able to do both this and buildlocal auditorium s for meetings.

Bur the churches of the world do theexact opposite of what Christ command-ed. Instead of going t o the world, theyinvite the world to cometo them. Thustheir churches provide the place fothe world to come, to hear their vari-ous gospels. They spend their moneyon local church buildings and ornatecathedrals.

Secondly, they regard these baildingsas their churches. In their language,t h e people-including the invitedstrangers of the world-go t o theCHURCH. To them the CHURCH is thebuilding. They call the building thechurch. But the Bible calls thep e o p l ethe Church-that is, the people wh ohave been begotten by Gods Spirit. InG od s t rue way, theCHURCH goes to the

building, the rented hall, or the auditorium. In the worlds way, the PEOPLEgo to the CHURCH. See how the worldturns Gods Holy Word completely up-side down?

    Go ds True Way

No w I would likefor every member ofGods true Church to notice carefully:

The second primary function of GodChurch is to feed its members on thtrue spiritual food, and to protect them. The Church is called Jerusalem above-the MOTHER of us all-that is, of all

September, 1962 The GOOD NEWS 7

isnt the law done away-or some otherquestion. What should you do?

Unless you know that you thorough-ly know the subject, and have the abil-i t y to explain it plainly and convincing-ly, it would be better to hand the neigh-bor a bo ok le t- or booklets-that ex-plain the subject. If you dont have oneto spare, explain tha t you will wri teour office and have one mailed to theneighbor a t once. Tell your neighborthat this booklet will explain i t so muchbetter than you could.

In case you do feel qualified to ex-plain it yourself ( a s you should be-though most of you are riot), followthis method: First, ask the neighbor intoyour home, or go yourself to his. Haveyour Bible. When seated quietly, freefrom interruption, open your Bible, turning to proper Scriptures one ata time. Instead of reading it yourself, hand the Bible to your friend and havehim read aloud each passage. Then you

carefully explain and expound it, andturn to the next passage and have yourneighbor read that, and so on.

f your friend does not know we havea local church cong rega tion, avoid allmention of it.

But, suppose your friend does know,or asks you directly whether we havea Church. You cannot refuse to answer. You cannot lie. So here is where y o umust use real tact Do nt hesitate. Do ntapologize. Immediately answer, Wedont have PUBLIC church serv ices-orany local church-that is,we dont havea local building called a church-butwe do have our own meeting on theSabbath-may I a.rk oar minister to culland expluin that t o you?

Try, immediately, to get your friendto agree to let the minister call. BUT

ITORS ARE NOT WELCOME. Just try, tactfully, to AVOID inv iting , if you can.

Now, suppose all this fails. Supposethe friend refuses the ministers call, andasks again if he (or she) may visit yourchurch meeting? Should you, then, re-fuse, o r say, No, visitors are not wel-come-or w e never invite visitor s?NEVER Never insult or offend yourneighbor. Of course, i the neighbor ishosrile and offerisive, and isd e m a n d i n gthat he come, for the pure purpose ofcausing trouble, then you must insistpolitely that it be taken up with theminister-then, whe ther the neighborobjects or not, call your minister andinform him of all the facts, and ask ifhe cannot call a t once. He will knowhow to handle the situation.

But suppose the friend isn o t hostile, but is friendly, doesnt want the m inis-ter to call, but does want to visit thechurch service with you?If it comes tothis, then perhaps you cannot-should

    NEVER TELL YOUR F R I E N D THAT VIS-

    not-refuse. BIJT, even in this last-resort situation, do not agree w i t h o u tulso E X P L A I N I N G . And how shouldyou explain?

Tr y tu make it plain something likethis: Explain that , h s t of all, w goby the Bible. Explain how the Biblecommands us to g o t o the world withthe Gospel-but to be S E PA R AT E , byouyselzles, in our own worship services.Explain that so far as WE are concerned, visitors most certainly areWELCOME-but we try to obey the Bible by meetingSEPARATELY, BY OURSELVES-and thatoften our ministers preach Scripturesbefore our own congregations that doreprove and rebuke the audience, andwe are not sure whether visitors mightnot take offense, and we surely dontwant to offend anyone-but our min-isters DO preach pretty strong sermons.

Now, after that much explanation,if your neighbor is friendly and stiilwants to come, you have prepared the

visitors mind to expect pretty strongpreaching, and explained that it is notintended to cause offense. That is thebest you can do. BUT-in such a case,be sure you telephone your pastor be-f o r e the Sabbath service, and explain,so he will immediately come to be in-troduced to your visitor before theservice-and from there on, jwt lety o w pastor handle it Continue to befriendly in every way-introduce yourvisitor to several friends,so that we do,i n every way, show the visitor we arefriendly.

If You Meet a Vis i tor

But suppose that althoughyou, y o u r -self, did not bring a visitor, anothermember does. You merely see a visitorthere for the first time.WHAT SHOULDYOU Do?-walk away, a i d avoid meet-ing the visitor? NO Go up, introduceyourself with a smile-BE FRIENDLY-make the visitor feel welcome

But someone in every church issuyeto go to the opposite extreme. Oftenwe seem to have a member who willrush up to the visitor, introduce himselfprofusely, and immediately start EX-PLAINING THE BIBLE o the visitor, orgetting into a religious discussion. ButDONT Never do this To the onewho does this, let me say candidly, thisis one strong reason why Y O U are notthe minister It is the ministers placeto do any explaining. He has beentrained to know how. God has calledhim, and therefore the Holy Spirit leadsand guides him. DONT RY TO MAKEYOURSELF THE MINISTER, O r the min-ister may rebuke yoa very strongly

You who meet a visitor at churchservice, just be friendly, smile, but donot start a conversation about the ser-mon, about religion,or about the Bible.

If the visitor asks about such things, call the minister or assistant or a deaconat once, with a smile, introduce him andmen tion the question-then let him takeover, and excuse yourself to go meetand shake hands with others. And whenintroduced to-or introd ucing yourselfto-a vi si to r, NEVER-and I meanNEVER take it on yourself to eithersay Dont you ever come ag ain - or,the opposite extreme, I want to inviteyou to come again.

but the ministers-to invite visitorseither to come again, or to forbid themto come. Dont try to be a self-appoint-ed minister when God has never calledyou God may deal with you throzcghthe minister, if you do

    A t Feas t of Tabernacles

After the last Feast of Tabernacles, one woman membcr wrote that her non-member husband had attended with her.

H e had been som ewhat interested be-fore attending, but at Gladewater hesaw a few things which he completelymisunderstood-no one knew abou titto explain the true facts to him-andthat finished him. He was completc-ly turned against us. H e was disgusted. It came to my attention, and I tried toexplain the true facts which he did notunderstand, and which should havecaused no offense whatsoever. B ut once anatural-minded person becomes embit-tered, his mind is seldom any longeropen to facts He believes what he hasdecided he wants to believe

I am sure that this situation hasoccurred many times. Many of you havehusbands-or wives, as the case may be-who are not membe rs. Some of themare hostile. If they are,UNDER NO CIR-CUMSIANCES should they come to theFeast of Tabernacles, or any of Godsholy Festivals. They will only find fault.Whatever they hear, they will disagreeWhatever they see, will be sare to beWRONG, as they will paint it. Somesuch husbands have brought their wivesleft them a t the Tabernacle grounds, then driving back to pick the wives upand take them home when the Feastisover. This , of course, is perfectly all

right. If you are a wife, and the only wayyou can come is to have your antagonis-tic husband bring you, then DONTCOME And I am thinking of HIM-not the welfare of the Church. TheChurch of God will go r ight on and on-and keep GROWING, regardless, be-cause it is empowered by theSPIRIT OFGOD . But it will make your husband unhappy. He wont enjoy it. H e will seand hear only that which will appeaWRONG to him.

If you are a husband, and your wife

is antagonistic against the Church andits doctrines and practises, DO NOT,under any circumstances, allow yourwife to attend. If you are a man,b e aM A N God made you the head of yourwife. God commands y o u to come. Therefore you must come , yourselfYou mu st obey GO D. But you m ust, ifnecessary, make your wife obey youand stay home. If she threatens to leaveyou, you may have to decide betweenher and God. W ill you obey her, or.will you obey G OD ? Your ETERNITYmay be determined by your decision.

Anyway, regardless of tantrums andthreats, I dont know of any wife whowants her husband to be a MOUSE, in-stead of a M A N If you havent beena MAN before, and ruled your ownhousehold as t iod commands, its time t ostart But be k i n d , not domineering. Re-member, although many wont admitit, every woman, by nature, wants t n beDOMINATED by a MAN But never

    domineered Theres a t remendous dif-ference. God teaches every husbandtoLOVE his wifc-to be k i d a d c v ~ i -siderate, ye t t o be f i rm, and to domi-nate, when necessary

Let me tell you a little personal ex-perience about one of Gods ministers.Like many others, both this ministerand his wife were Ambassador Colleges t ud e n ts . T h i s particular wife was oneof our very finest gir l students-a lead-er among girls. A few years after theirmarriage, 1 asked her, in a spirit ofhumor, and with a smile, whecher shehad ever succumbed to temptation andtried to wear the pants.

She grinned. Yes, I did, once, shereplied.

And, I pursued, did you find outwho was boss?

Her eyes glelrmed with pride. Areyou telling me she replied.

This young woman is a very com-petent ministers wife, and an efficientmother. But she could never hold herhusband in the high esteem and respectthat she does if she could dom inate hi m.Thousands of people hold this particularminister in very high esteem and re-spect-but I assure you that, if he didnot have the strength of character toobey God in being thc hcad of his wifeand family, he would not hold this highhonor in Gods Church that he does.

If your wife is so unreasonable andbitter that she really leaves you forobeying God, then read and obeyI Cor.7:10-15. Let her leave. Such an endingis a tragedy-but if yo26 have nheydGods instruction, in love and considera-tion, and cannot prevent it, it is thelea.rt of the evils.

But those of you who have the wifeof your youth, who believes, and obeysGod, and is with you in Gods Truth,

have MUCH to be thankful for-as Ihave, in the lovely woman who hasbeen my wife for over 45 years Yes,this is the greatest material blessingGod has lavishcd on mc

W H A T a blessing is a loving andcom pete nt ministers wife On e of thePROOFS that this is GODSCHURCH isthe fact that every minister is blessedwith a wife who is a REAL HELP

But to you husbands with unbelievingwives, I say, BE CAREFUL never to giveyour wife any just cause for recrimina-tion

Unconver ted MatcsMany of our members have mates who

are unconverted or mem bers of ano therchurch. Some of these are hostile-someare not.

But to all married members whosewives or husbands arenot in the C hurch,I say-with emphasis-try t o avoid caus-zng untagonism. In entirely too manycases, all this bitter strife and hostility

has actually been cawed , unthinkingly,by our member. And how? BYTRYING

other converted, or to talk about re-ligion or our religious beliefs

DONT O THIS NEVER O THISNever try to explain any doctrinesor

beliefs, UNLESS your wife or husbandis friendly, open-minded, and in such anatt i tude nsks yo t o oxplcsan. Even then, make the talk loving-kind-and watchto see when your mate begins to loseinterest or become tired-and STOP thesubject, or change the subject, at thatpoint as soon as possible.

Remember your husband or wife hasjust as much right to his or her re-ligion as you have to yours God madeeach of us a free moral agent. Eachmust make h i s own dec i s ion And onething you CANNOT DO-you cannotargue or talk anyone into seeing,or ac-cepting Gods Tru th, or being converted.

TALK TO GO D about your uncon-verted ma te, in prayer-never to themate, except when asked ina good spir-it. Intercede for them in PRAYERN O N E can come to Jesus Christ, un-less the Spirit of the Father draws him.Your arguments cant draw him-onlyGODSSPIRIT can.

N o w suppose you are a man with ahostile wife. W he n one of th e annualfestivals comes up, use all the tact youpossibly can. PRAYover it. Ask God togive you wisdom, to say the rightthings to her. Try to be kind, consider-ate, loving. R EA LIZE hat she probablyis entirely sincere in being unableto seewhat you see. If God hasnt called her,she cant help that Try to explain, kindly, that you give her the full rightto her own religious views and actions-and that you have the same right toyours. As you are not going to allow

    TO EXPLAIN 1HE BIBLE, O r t O get the

her tn interfere with yni i r nheying Godand attending His Festival, you allowher the same freedom of religion youdemand for yourself. Marriage is aphysicul uiiiuii, iiuL it spiriruat one. Youcan be ONE FLESH, as God joined you tobe together, in love and mutual toler-ance, w i t h o u t religious INTOLERANC

Do all in your pow er to preserve your

marriage in LOVE,n tolerant considera-tion fo r HER. Stil l, be FIRM-yes, calm -ly, but 100% de te rmined ly firm inobeying God rather than any human, and in being head of your wife andfamily. However, bear in mind thatGod makes you the head of your wifein the human and fleshly sense-youare ONE FLESH, not one spirit. You areNOT head over her in her religion.

Do not argue religion. Do not try totalk her into Gods Truth-you cant.Just dont mention the subject. So faras possible, God teaches, bc a t pcacewith all people.

No w , finally, remember-never try totalk ANYONE into salvation, GodsTruth, Bible doctrines, or being con-verted. So far as non-member friendsand neighbors are concerned, just try toavoid all mention of our church serv-ices. Try to keep the subject from com-ing up. It is better if they do not evenknow about our services-then the re isno crnbarrassment about not invitingthem to attend.

Try to prevent non-members fromseeing, or knowing about, T h e G o o dN e w s . But NEVER do as one memberuntactfully did. This woman had readin T h e Go o d N e w s that this paper isfor Church members ONI.Y. T h e paperwas left out in plain sight in her livingroom. A neighbor picked it up, startedreading it. She grabbed the copy outof her neighbors hand, saying--Oh,weve been told not to let outsiders readthis. Youre not converted. Youre notallowed to read this. Naturally thefriend was insulted, offended, and de-cided she didnt want any of OUR re-ligion

If a non-member accidentally doescee a copy of this paper, DONT offendby telling them no n-mem bers are notallowed to read it. It is then too latefor that . Let them go on teading it, butif they want on the list, tell them theycan write and ask, but it is just our ownChurch paper for members. and not generally sent to non-members. ButN E V E Rcause offense. Better just keep it out ofsight in the first place.

But in all things, show LOVE, kind-ness, consideration. Be f r iendly to p e o -ple in the world, even though we musnot be p a ~ t f the world. Always try toavoid offense. GOD is LOVE. God ismerciful, considerate, CompassionateW e must be

WOMENS DRESS RULINGcoizcertzi?zg oo short and t oo tight skirts, and extra-lo w-n eck dresses

W HY does the Word of God con-fine His instruction regardingmodest apparel, and the adorn-zng of the person with clothes, to theWOMEN?

Did God desire to discriminate-toma ke wom en uncomfortable-to showDartialitv to men? Does God intend form e n to show off themselves in orna-mental and gay at t ire, while H e com-marids wo~i icnco make unsightly scare-crows of themselves?

Of course we know better than that. There is nothing in Gods instructionto make women appear ugly,or to makethem uncomfortable. O n the contrary, many, if not most, women will sufferany amount of discomfort in theirworship of the goddess Dame Fashion.

    Gods R E A S O N

God never shows partiality. He neverdiscr imin ates against individuals, sexes, races, or whoever. Yet Gods W ord doescarry specific instruction forw o m e n tobe modest in their dress-and no cor-responding instruction for modesty inmens clothing is given. W H Y ?

Thcrc is a rcason I think, candidly, that the gir ls and women in GodsChurch k n o w the answer. And for thatvery reason some of them seem to wantto violate Gods instruction

    W h a t I am going to say applies only

to a f e w. W ome n in Gods Church aredifferent from those of the world. Buta very few need severe correction.

I do not mean that even these few goto the extremes of ridiculous f is hon socommoiily seen in tlie world. Yuu wontsee any member of Gods Church wear-ing artificially striped hair, green eye-lids, and a purple mouth, decked out inoutlandish dress design and overdonewacky jewelry. But, in the category oftoo short and too tight skirts, and inexcessively low-neck dresses, some ofyou women and girls need a sharprebuke from Gods ministers

NOW WHY does Gods InstructionBook contain admonit ion regardingmodesty in womens dress, and notregarding mens?

In both colleges-Pasadena andBricket W oo d, England,-I personallyteach a class in Principles of Living. This class includes Gods instruction inrcgard to SCX and marriage. Sex re-sponses operate in the mind, and themale mind does not react in the samemanner as the female mind in relationto sex. Sex consciousness, and arousal,in the male, is brought about muchmore quickly than in the female, and is

    by H e r b e r t W. A r m s t r o n g

stimulated by sight, or even by imagi-nation, in a manner that has little affecton females.

God made the female body to beattractive to the male. This attractionmay be, and should be, one of sheerbeauty. But also it may be, and undermany circumstances often is,a stimula-tion of LUST. Especially when certainparts of the female figure are empha-sized, such as the hips and buttocks bytight skirts, the low neckline exposingport ions of breasts, or too-short skirtsexposing more than is modest of thefemale leg.

I am quite aware that it is the currentfashion, in the world, to wear shortknee-length skirts extra tight aroundthe hips. But the women in Gods

Church have come out of the world, andare different-or else they have not beenput into His Church by God. Godsdaughters do not find it necessary tocontorm to this world, going along inits extremes of daring,or wrong, styles.

Candidly, when I see a female witha skirt tight enough to call attention tothe shape of her hips, especially whentight below the hips a i d undei liebuttocks, I know that she is either care-less and needs sharp admonishing orelse she is wearing it deliberately toattract male eyes and arouse lust towardher in mens minds.

D o you want to know my personalreaction when see such an example? It makes me feel that such a girl orwoman needs either a good lecturedriven home by a sound SPANKINGof what she so brazenly displays, or tobe classed as a fallen woman and acommon prosti tute.

THAT 3 PLAIN LANGUAGE 1 meanit to be plain, and I want the womenin Gods Church to know it i s comingfrom Gods Minister, who speaks byChrists authority

Recently some of our girls andwomen have been wearing skirts thatare entirely TOO SHORT Often I havefe l t I ought to speak personally to someof you. If this article does not quicklycorrect this evil-AND IT IS AN EVIL-Gods ministers will be instructed tobegin speaking personally and in a man-ner that ought to cause a deep sense ofshame and produce a very red face onany gi r l or woman who invites suchsharp rebuke from a Ministerof God

When many of you women wearskirts as high as the knee, and whichcompletely expose the knees when sit-ting, your skirts are an abomination inGOD S eyes. I wonder, frankly, if God

doesnt blush whe n HE sees you Ar eyou women who do this, deliberatelytrying to tempt men into breaking thespirit of Gods law against adultery? Are you trying to make yourselvesadultresses? Are you not breaking thevery spirit of that law, yourselves?

In our instruction to parents inproper child rearing we teach that whenyou spank your child, it must be sufficiently severe to impress the lesson-painful enough that he will not wantto cause it to be repeated very soonIn this instruction to the spiritual chil-dren in Gods Churc h, your Pastor ismaking this correction to those whoneed it, I sincerely hope, plain enough::A painful enough that it shall notneed repeating

    N e i th e r Ex t re m eGods Church does not teach, nor

does Gods W or d whe n rightly under-stood, that women should go to theopposite extreme of wearing ill-fitting,overly loose skirts that drag the dustand pick up germs. I am not saying thatyour neckline must be so high that allLhe neck is covered. God is not theauthor of UGLINESS, any more than ofconfusion or evil. God is the GreatArtist who has designed all the beautyof nature.

    Consequently, in conformity with the

Wo r d of God, Gods Church encourageswomen to dress neatly, pleasingly, at-tractively within the bounds of propemodesty and good taste, and even withsufficient becoming style to exprespersonality and individuality. God Himself expressed perfect artistry in beautiful desig n in nature-in the lily-therose-beautiful trees, shrubs and plan t-in prize -w innin g livestock-and evein the beautiful human body, whenhealthy and not degenerated.

For womcn to dress becomingly yetmodestly, there is no need to disguisethe human figure by grotesque ultra-modern styles that make them look liklampshades, T-squares, or triangles. Theworld goes either to that extreme,or tothe extreme of undue emphasis onbreast, hips, and legs.

But it is in this latter category thasome-yes, too many-or our womenoff end.

More than o ~ i c e have seen a few ofour women, in evening dress, exposingentirely too much female breast-withneckline cut so low as to show a goodlyportion of breasts, with a crease in thmiddle. On one or two occasions, I

It is HISpower which must CHANGE our lives inproportionate Christian growth

Two Addi t iona l Churches

This may sound like a repeti t ion ofthe last church news colum n, but thereare now two MORE additional churchesestablished Last tim e we were privi-leged to announce the beginningof thechurches in Vancouver, British Colum-bia and in Medford, Oregon. Now weare happy to announce the establish-ment of new churches in Tucson, Ari-zona, and in Indianapolis, Indiana

This means that there are now a totalof FIFTY-SEVENocal churches world-wide in GODSCHURCH today Thi s isin addition to several small Bible studiesin scattered areas in Africa, the Philip-pines, and the British West Indiespastored by our representatives.

Our new church in Tucson, Arizona,is ministered to by Mr. David Jon Hill-assisted by Mr . Ve rnon Ha rgrov e.A total of 67 peop e were in attenda ncefor the first service. Prior to the estab-lishment of this church, some drove240miles one way, to church

Mr. Hargrove, recently graduatedfrom A mbassador C ollege, is an effectiveand dedicated leader in Gods Church. He spent a year of t raining in theministerial field under Mr. Dean Black-well in the Chicago area between hisjunior and senior years at Ambassador. He has been assisting Mr. Hill in thePhoenix Church before the presentTucson Church was established, and

    by Roder ick C. M e r e d i t h

will now visit the brethren through theweek in both churches.

Indianapol i s Church Es tab li shed

Our new Indianapolis Church cer-tainly started out with a bang Thefollowing is a report of the first servicesf rom Mr. Carn Catherwood, new asso-ciate pastor of the church and graduateof Ambassador College:

Th e first Sabbath here was a greatblessing and joy to all of us, far beyondwhat anybody here had cxpcctcd.Wehad put out chairs for 200 people, con-fident we could hold everyone, butpeople just kept pouring in. Mr. Black-well, 1 believe, gave you 5 as thefinal total for the first meeting; later,on re-checking, we found that one ofthe men who took the mnnt had madea slight error in calculations, and theactual attendance was even bzgber-358 were in attendance at the very firstmeeting

For the second Sabbath service, thisweek, we were actually up one in at-tendance to set a second attendance-record. Th e spiritof warmth and fr iend-liness of these people here is really in-spiring-some of the Kentucky peopledrove up here both times, a distanceof 260 miles one way So many of thepeople really show enthusiastic attitudes-wanting to pitch in and help, set upchairs, assist in the parking lot,or aidothers in finding rides to church. Every-one was very pleased and thankfulforthe good beginning God gave us, butat the same time, we realize there isstill a great deal of work to be doneand growth brought about, before ourpeople here are really qualified andtrained to be effective servants in GodsKingdom.

Several of the people here asked usto send their thanks to Gods Headquar-ters for blessing them with a localchurch, but at the same time, Mr. Ken-neth Westby and I send our thanks toGods Headquarters for having givenus the privilege of serving people withthe spirit and attitude of Gods peoplehere. To be with Gods peop e is cer-tainly one of the greatest blessingsanybody could ever have. Since we were

bursting at the seams in the very firstservice in our hall, I am on the look-out for a larger hall in the city, thatwe can perhaps begin to use after theFestival. W e already have several dozenprospectives in the area who are aboutready to come to church, but, as Mr.Blackwell said, if we have many morecome, theyll be hanging from thechandeliers, and so a new hall will

probably be necessary after the Feast.Isnt that TREMENDOUS, Brethren? Now we can begin Gods churches, occasionally, with over 350 in attend-ance An d in some such casesas thiswe have almost OTJTGROWN he hall be-fore we even start Truly, our cuprunne th over.

    Ministerial Changes

As MI. and Mrs. Tony Hammer aredue to return to the States aftera two-year stint in Australia, a number ofswitches in local pastorates is in theoffing. Certainly the brethren in CorpuChristi and San Antonio, Texas, willbe happy to learn that Mr. Tony Ha m -mer-son of M r. and Mrs. Roy Hammerwho did so much work in helpingpioneer the arrangements for holdingGods Festivals at Gladewater, Texas-will become their pastor soon after theFeast of Tabernacles.

Mr. Hammer and his wife, Nataliewill be returning to the States withtheir little girl after a very fine job opastoring Gods church in MelbourneAustralia. Like his father, Mr. TonyHamm er is a very hard worker, andhas an unusually warm and engagingpersonality. Mrs. Hammer was one ofthe most helpful girls on campus duringher years at Ambassador, and isa verydedicated ministers wife.Mr. and Mrs.Tony Hammer wil l he a t remendousasset to Gods churches in the state ofTexas.

(Continued from Page11 )more than one year and has just thespace I think we need. The groundsaround it are spacious compared to mostoffice buildings, offering no parkingproblem. Surrounding the building isa fish pond about six feet wide withvarious trees and shrubs planted nearby.

Even though the building has onlytwo floors and a mezzanine, it is anattractive building for this area of theworld. It is constructed more sturdilythan the others. Also, it won an awardfrom the Hawaiian Architectural So-ciety for several features of its design. And it makes me wonder if God keptus out of the tall buildings and in thisshorter, more sturdily built buildingfor a reason-perhaps H e sees there isgoing to be a terrible earthquake in thenext few years. Maybe I am wrong onthis assumption, but God surely causedthese doors to close right before us.

The crew doing the work (part i-

tioning the office) started the day thecontract was signed, July31, and withinrwelve days it completed the initial workin the ofhce space. NOW, my first offi-cial work in this office is this articleinforming you of the WONDERFUL WAYChrist has established another overseasmailing office

Now, just on the heels of the an-nouncement of the establishmentof thisfine new office, Mr. HerbertW. Arm-strong informed allof us here a t Head-quarters that God had opened tremen-dous new doors for broadcasting HISmessage to the Philippines Instead ofjust being on the network of stationsthere once a week only, The WORLDTOMORROW broadcast will now be he ardon many of these stationsSEVEN NIGHTSA WEEKYight across the board

Thus, because of its long ielaiionshiywith the United States, and because ofthe many Israelitish people living there, the Philippine Islands are now goingto be BLANKETED by the preaching ofGods truth before the yellow horde ofCommunism closes in

Brethren, Mr. Waterhouse and Mr.Longuskie are already encounteringmany difficulties in obtaining permis-sion for permanent residence in theIslands to carry on Gods Wo rk. A ndMr.@Waterhouse has already suffered fromatype of disease involving fever anddysentery. So because of the increasingdanger of C omm unism , the dan ger oforiental plagues in this area, and theconstant difficulties in establishing GodsWork in a new land, be sure to especid

y remember Mr. Waterhouse and Mr.Longuskie in your fervent PRAYERS toAlmighty God our Father

But as we pray, let us also REJOICEand give God THANKS for what Hehas already done in permitting His

Work to have such a good beginningin the Philippines.

Final Report-Baptizing ToursThe regular baptizing tours scntout

f rom Gods Work here-and arou nd theworld-have now come toa close. Near-ly five hzcndred people really SURREN-DERED their lives wholly and uncondi-

tionally to God and were baptized bythese tours

Th e tour directedby Mr. Ca m Cather-wood and Mr. Dennis Luker coveredthe east coast of the U nited States and upinto Canada baptizing 145 out of 317met. MI. Hal Baird arid Mr. Roy Holla-day baptized 117 out of 344 met. Mr.Frank McCrady and Mr. Dave Albertbaptized 96 out of 233 met.

Th e Negro baptizing tour directedby Mr. Harold Jackson and assisted, alternately, by Mr. Elbert Atlas and Mr.Eugene Dumas, baptized 13 out of 91met and counseled with 76 others most

of whom were members. Besides thesetours, there were many other smallertours out from local church areas andstill additional tours conducted by ourministers overseas.

Rep orting durin g the first half of theirtour in Germany, Mr. Gerhard Marxand Mr. Frank Schnee write: Thoughonly half a dozen people will have beenbaptizcd by thc t ime the t r ip is com-pleted (Austria and Yugoslavia havenot been covered) . . . it has, neverthe-less, been successful, worthwhile, andvery encouraging.

    Lat in Am er icanTour

In another part of the world, Dr.Benjamin Rea has been conducting abaptizing and visiting tour throughLatin America. Th e final report o n thistour has not been received as yet, butthe following is an excerpt from amoving letter of one whom Dr. Reamet and baptized on this tour:

D r. Rea almost got killed the daybefore on a street in Mexico. Somethingfell off a building and missed him with-in a few inches. Satan really didntwant h im to get to me, but he did

That evening he baptized me in thebathtub of his hotel room. H e saidtome, joking, I bet you are the onlyperson to be baptized in the H otel CostaRica I almost didnt fit in; fortunatelyI am very small.

If I am a Christian, I mast conformto His will. Its been such a long wait, for baptism, and I am so grateful thatit has at last come to me.

Mr. Armstrong recently brought j oyand enthusiasm to the entire studentbody here in Pasadena by announcingthe momentous news that, beginningnext fall, another F U L L four-year Am-bassador College will open its doors tonew studcnts

Th e reason for this is apparent. For

the last several years, we have had toturn down an increasing percentage ofapplicants for Ambassador College herein America. This year, the proportionwas almost three out of four applyingwho had to he turned down. Becauseof the price of land and facilities herein Pasadena-and because Mr. Arm-strong does not w ant the college here togrow iuu large and lose its personalatmosphere-it has become imp erativ ethat we establish the additional collegefacilities elsewhere.

As many of you know, for some timeit appeared that God would opento usa fairly well-known, long-established col-lege in the Southeast which we wouldbe able to take over. This may yetcome about, but there are many difficulties attendant on such an operation

However, it has become increasinglyapparent to all of as that using ourown properties -already bought andpaid for-near Gladewater, Texas, onwhich to establish an additional Am-bassador College would be an IDEALsolution to the present problem.

So just last week, Mr. Garner TedArmstrong, Mr. Jack R. Elliott and Mr.Robert Ruxton winged their way toTexas to look over our entire propertythere with a critical eye toward estab-lishing a full four-year liberal arts col-lege on these properties adjacent to thebuildings we are now already using forthe Feast of Tabernacles. Mr. Elliottand Mr. Ruxton are both engineersand in charg e of our building and ma in-tenance crew here at Pasadena-havingmuch experience in planning thesebuilding operations and working witharchitects on them.

Ar rivi ng back, they reported toMr.Herbert Armstrong that by constructingonly one or two classroom buildings

t sn iporu l valucs ahcad of spiritualand eternal values.

Frequently, because of spiritu al pro b-lems and lack of growth, we find itnecessary to inquire specifically abouthow much time is spent in prayer andBible study. The answer we receive isoften, Oh, I like to study 30 minutesevery day and pray about the samelength of time. But when we ask, Yes,I know how much time you wouldl iket o spcnd in praycr and study, but howmuch time D O you spend ? there isoften an awkward, embarrassing silence. The individual admits that what hewould like to do is a far cry from w hathe actually DOES.

    T h i s p r o b le m of t i m e s l i p p i n gthrough our fingers is no respecter ofpersons. It makes no difference whetheryou are an older, retired person orwidow with tim e on your hands,ayoung mothcr with a house full ofchildren, a father with a job that keeps

    you constantly busy, or in ANY O T H E R

YOU have a battle on your hands tomake sure you get thereally IMPORTANTthings in your life DONE.

Bible study and prayer are the realbattleground-the fighting front-ofour spiritual warfare-and the placewhere too many of G ods people arehanded shamcful and ignominious de-feats Yo u need to give Bible study andprayer the choicest par t of your day-not whatever is left over afterall therest has been scheduled. It needs to bescheduled at a time of day which is

least likely to be broken up even inatime of emergency. You can afford tomiss an hour s sleep now and then, butyou CANT afford to miss out on prayerSo give prayer and Bible study yourchoicest timc-whcn you are mostalertand least likely to have your routineinterrupted.

    Closely allied to Bible study andprayer is another important-but oftenneglected-part of our spiritual devel-opment. M E D I TAT I O N .As T h e BibleCorrespondence Course mentions, tonzeditate means to dwell in thought , tomuse, to reflect-NOT to daydream T h e

Bible shows that meditating on Godslaw ( joshua :s ; Psalm 1 :1- 3) and onHis plan and creation (Psalms 77:12,1 4 3 : 5 ) is a vital part of living closeto God. The Bible tells you topo?zderthe path of thy feet (Prov . 4:26)-totake time to think about where youare going, and to reallyexumine yourselfto see if you are growing, overcoming, and CHANGING. In this day of high-speed, high -ten sion living-with theworld unthinkingly plunging to oblivion-there is certainly mo re need thanever to fop t o MEDITATE.

    Important though Bible study, prayer

KIND OF A SITUATION YOU CAN NAME,

and meditation d i e you1 clay caiiiioi Ltcompletely successful unless you prop-erly schedule and DO the oth er activitiesthat are basic human needs. One ofthese is S L E E P. Sleep is a necessity oflife, but it needs to be planned tomake sure you get enough-yet nott o omuch. Seven to eight hours per nigh t isa general average, and you will have toexperiment with yourself to see if youneed more or less than this average. Dono^ fool yourself eiiher way The vanityof driving on through the night andgetting less sleep than you need simplyDOES NOT PAY When you are opera t -ing on less sleep than you need, yourjudgment is unsound and you do notsee things in their true perspective. Likethe alcoholic, you might think yourereally driving yourself and g etting thingsdone-but youre not fool ing anyoneoutside of yourself. This is to say noth-ing of the damage done to your health.Make sure you are gettingenough sleep. But dont go to the other extreme andget t o o much sleep consistently. Sleepcan be used as an escape from realityand responsibility just as surely as drinkor dope (Prov. 6 9-11, 20 :13 ) .

Now consider WORK. Yo u wives-especially wi th children-need tosched-ule your work time in order to insurethat you spend sufficient time in prayerand Bible study. It is very easy for ahousewife to let physical duties-neces-sary though many of them are-con-sume time that should be spent in studyand prayer. Seek first the Kingdom ofGod, and you will have the tim eand the

wisdom to complete your daily chores.Tim e for RELAXATION is anotherpa rt of each weeks activities which isvery important. How you spend thistime will vary greatly and may includeeating your meals, playing with yourchildren, visiting, reading, playing amusical instrument or singing, spendingt ime on a hobby, or anything else thatrelaxes you, yet that is profitable. Makesure that you DO schedule time forrelaxation each week, but keep it in itsproper place, making sure you dontspend too much t ime doing the thingsyou like to do while neglecting those

    things you ought to do.

    that He has c o m m a n d e d us to observe111s annual Church Festivals, or HolyDays.

Jesus Christ told His brothers: G Oye up unto this FEAST ( John 7 :8 ) . H ewas speaking of the Feast of Taber-nacles (Verse 2 ) . Soon after-settingus an EXAMPLE-He Him self came u pto the Feast and took part in it (Verses10, 14, 3 7 ) .

    P U R P O S E of Holy Days

This worlds churches have theirman-devised camp meetings ata time andin a way that seems right to man. But

we have proved in past articles-andwill contin ue to do so-that the annu alsabbaths or feast days God gave Hispeople were commanded a d intendedto be kept forever (Lev. 2 3 : 2 1 , 31, 4 1 ) .Christ set us a perfect example in keep-ing them, and the apostles cont inuedkeeping them and even commandingGcntile converts to keep these days ofGod ( 1 Cor. 5 : s .

The world is busy observing thepagan holidays of Christmas and Easter. Its camp meetings are organized anddirected as m a n reasons-not as Godcommands. Then it sneers at the daysGod has m n d e holy--at the festivals theCreator instituted to keep men in re-membrance of Hist rue plan. Carnal menscoffingly, sneeringly call these daysJewish and they ridicule themas theinvention of a harsh, inconsiderate Godof the Old Testam ent. The y seem toforget t ha t Christ and the apostles keptthese days in the N e w Testament. Theyignore the fact that God calls these days M Y sabbaths-holy unto the Lord

These days are never referred co asbeing holy to the Jews. But they areholy to the Eternal Creator who gives

yoti every breath of air you breathe. Youare d ef yi ng H i m if you refuse to keepthem In so doing, you will lose knowl-edge of the true God and of His p lanwhich is pictured by these days.

In their disobedience, the churchesof this world have lost knowledge ofGods plan ,of salvation. They preachmany d i f f e r e n t gospels. They are inconfusion-Babylon ( Rev. 17 )-andwe are comm anded to come out of thismixed-up, deceived churchianity (Rev.1 8 : 4 ) .

Many of you brethren have come o u tof this world, and then have found your-selves unable to have fellowship withany of Gods people. It is often impossi-ble to meet with other true brethrenonthe weekly Sabbath. You must simplyworship God alone in Spirit and intruth RIJT Gods a n n u a l Sabbaths orholy days provide an opportunity totravel even some distance and have

that needed fellowship with other mem-herb of the true church of God.

1 ese festive occasions are comniand-ed to be kept in the place that Godshould choose. Deuteronomy 16: 16shows particularly t h a t the days of Un-leavened Bread (w it h the Passover, verse 6 ) , the day of Pentecost, and theFeast of Tabernacles were all to be keptwhere God would choose.

In your Bible , in Zechariah 14: 16-19,God declares He is going to P U N I S HEgypt or any other nation thatdares tostay away from the Feast of Tabernaclesduring the Millennium It isso impor-tant to God that H e is going tointerveneir the weather patterms and send a ter-rible drough t if they wont come. Womens breasts, in plain language, were designed by God to nurse babies-not to be flau nted immodestly to arouse

lust in men.In the matter of too-tight skirtsaround the hips, the excuse often isthat the girl has taken on weight-andshe protests that she cannot help it. Butshe can help it, and if she is to remainin Gods Church or enter Gods King-dom, she m us t - on e of two ways: e i therdont remain overweight (fast ing andproper diet will cure that quickly), orlet out the seam.

W e wan t o u r women to be beautiful-naturally beautiful, pleasingly attrac-tive, in good style, well groomed-butnot artificially so, and this may beaccomplished WITH FULL MODESTY.
