Allegory

Allegory is a figurative mode of representation conveying meaning other than the literal. Allegory communicates its message by means of symbolic figures, actions or symbolic representation.

What does all that mean?

Page 18: Good Morning Everyone!!

Allegory

An allegory tells us one story while really telling us another. Think of The Pedestrian – we read about a man walking down the road but was that REALLY what Bradbury meant?

Try and think of a few other stories that have another story hidden inside!

Page 19: Good Morning Everyone!!

Peace of the Wild Things

Open you book to pg 410.

What is this poem about?

How does it relate to anything else we have read? Think about what an allegory is- what could possibly be hidden here.

Page 20: Good Morning Everyone!!

Writing Section

Think about how the themes or messages of this poem and The Pedestrian might be similar. If you had to make connections between the two what would they be?
