Dear Trinity, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for your incredibly generous support for my trip to Peurto Rico! I had an unbelievable time serving the people there, and I couldn’t have gone without your support. I learned so much about how God works through his people. Your support means the world. Thanks again! ~Katie Hammaker w/ Serve Up 2018

More Valentine thanks… Gabe Grajewski, Olivia Grajewski, Megan Meyers, Connor Ritter THANK YOU TRINITY Five agencies (Children’s Home of Reading, Salvation Army, Bethany Children’s Home, Lifeline of Berks County, & Opportunity House) were recipients of 735 Easter bags through the annual Easter Bag Project. On behalf of the Social Ministry Board, we extend a big thank you to our Trinity family for all that was done to make that possible. Whether you donated bag items, made a financial donation that made it possible to purchase more items, helped with set-up and filling the bags, or delivered the bags to the agencies, you made Easter brighter for many young people in our community. Here’s what some of them are saying…

From The Salvation Army… …Thank you so much. All the kids enjoyed their Easter bags.

From The Children’s Home of Reading… …Thank you for your ongoing generosity! On behalf of the 1,300 children and families in crisis that we serve, we are so greatful.

From The Bethany Children’s Home… …Thank you for the awesome Easter bags! Everyone enjoyed the treats.

From Lifeline of Berks County… …Such a kind donation. May God bless you always and thank you for being our lifeline.

Thank YOU(TH) Wow! Can I just say that youth led worship was AMAZING? At all three services over 35 youth led our community of faith in song, prayer, passing the peace, sharing the story of the prodigal son and feeding us at the Lord’s Table. The energy and joy that emanated from the sanctuary throughout the weekend was filled with the Holy Spirit. The energy was contagious. The theme of the worship service was “Make a Difference”. Throughout the service we saw how the gifts of the Spirit are making a difference in the lives of our youth. We heard the gifts of the spirit as some of our youngest choir members led us in singing the song, “Sanctuary”, accompanied by youth playing ukuleles. We learned about the amazing love that God has for

us and how that makes a difference as we experienced the retelling of the parable of the prodigal son. From pigs eating Dieffenbach’s chips, to the fatted mooing cow, to high

schoolers wearing feather boas and celebrating Thing Two’s return, the story definitely left an impression on everyone in worship that weekend. In addition to the reenactment of scripture, we saw pictures and heard stories from youth of all ages at Trinity. They shared why they come to Trinity, how they share and show God’s love and how that love makes a difference in their lives. I have thanked the youth for their leadership, their presence in worship that weekend and the time they gave to practice for worship that weekend. I will keep thanking them on behalf of myself and the congregation. But I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you, too. Because here’s the thing. The youth felt comfortable leading worship, singing, acting out scripture, playing the guitar, piano, ukulele, drums, reading and speaking in front of a large group and sharing communion because all of you make this place and this space safe to do so. Yes, I take time to encourage, teach, invite, lead and guide the youth, but, you all make this space the holy and safe space that it is. It is a space where Colin played the drums in public for the first time. You make it a holy space

where they feel comfortable ‘patting another back’ or ‘bumping another rump’ in worship. You continue to make this space safe and holy for the youth in our faith family. You give them this space to explore the gifts that God has given them in leadership, music, public speaking, amazing dancing, acting, praying, and just being themselves. I hope you saw and experienced that weekend that the youth (of all ages) at Trinity feel comfortable and loved in this place. Heck, I hope you see and experience that each week, as our youth are involved in worship, Sunday school, small groups and service opportunities. They are a joyful part of this family of faith. Thanks for making space for this joy. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of our youth, in our congregation and in our world.

+peace, Pastor Jen

The Evangelism Board needs your help! Come volunteer at the Robesonia Street Fair on June 22 & 23, 5-10pm. Tell our community about Trinity, hand out some toys and enjoy the community coming together. Look for sign ups in the upper narthex in May, but save the date now!

Team Trinity’s Walk to Jerusalem is complete!

Many thanks to our multi-generational team that conquered 5,808 miles! WE MADE IT! Thanks to all who contributed to covering the miles.

Thank You Simply Givers We would like to say thank you to the 140 households that use Simply Giving here at Trinity. Simply Giving is an electronic funds transfer system that is simple, safe and easy. There is one form to fill out, and your giving can be easily changed at any time. This has made a huge difference in our cash flow especially during the summer months. This is why many families at Trinity simply pass the offering plate by, because their first fruits giving is automatically being deposited into the church’s account.

Please consider signing up for this program. We will have a special table set up in the narthex on May 5th & 6th. You will be able to sign-up for Simply Giving as well as have questions answered. Join us as we “simply give” in response to the greatest gift we have ever received…Jesus!

Thanks again to all of our members who are already Simply Givers! ~ The Stewardship Board

The next New Member Class will

be on Sunday, May, 20th, at 6:00pm. This

class will meet in the parlor, and will take less than two hours. This is a chance to learn more about Trinity and its many ministries. If you are interested in attending, please call the church office. Child care will be arranged for those who need it but must be scheduled ahead of

time, so please call the church office to RSVP.

All Saints Scholarship

Fund We are continuing the All Saints Scholarship Fund at Trinity for members who graduate from high school and plan to further their education at a college or trade school. The amount of the gift will depend upon the amount of money we are able to raise. We have been collecting throughout the year for this fund, and we pray it will continue to encourage our youth to feel supported and nurtured by the people of this place.

Simply write a check to Trinity and place it in an envelope marked “All Saints Scholarship Fund.” If you would like to honor someone with your gift, write a note about that person and place it in the envelope as well. Our goal is to encourage our youth to pay it forward as we remember the saints of the past and plant seeds in the saints of the future!

Have you updated your will

and remembered the ministry of Christ at Trinity?

+ + + + + + Give a gift that celebrates your life and

commitment to Christ!

Missionary Sponsorship Every year, we invite members to sponsor our missionaries for a day. $5 helps to cover our costs of sponsoring them in their service. There is a calendar on the bulletin board outside the church office. Help us achieve our goal of spreading God’s Word. Thank You.

Men’s Fellowship will meet on May 1st at 6:00pm. We will watch the second video in our series, Comeback Boys of the Bible with former NFL quarterback Neal Jeffrey. Please sign-up on the kiosk so that sufficient food is prepared. Remember, you can also sign-up to bring

a dessert to share. Hope to see you there. You may always invite someone to join you!

Collecting Aluminum Cans Ryan Noyes is collecting and recycling aluminum cans to benefit the IM ABLE Foundation. The mission of the IM ABLE Foundation (www.imablefoundation.org) is to remove obstacles that prevent individuals with disabilities from being

physically active through adaptive fitness equipment grants, inclusive fitness classes and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. All money raised from recycling the cans will go directly to the foundation. Please drop off your empty cans (crushed, if possible) in the marked bin outside the shed in the main parking lot near the playground.

MAP - Missing A Person Tuesday, May 8th at Noon

MAP is an incredible ministry at Trinity. It is intended for anyone who has lost a spouse or another significant person in their life. We come together with missing pieces to see if we can find wholeness

together. We will go out to lunch in May because the school will be using our facility for AP testing. We will meet at the church and then head to Ozgood’s for our lunch. You are on your own for the cost of lunch. We will take time to talk and enjoy fellowship. Please RSVP on the kiosk or call the church office to make your reservation. We continue to bring healing and find wholeness…as we piece it all together….together!

Funeral Meals at Trinity One of the greatest blessings for families who have lost loved ones is Trinity’s gift of a funeral meal after services. Many of you are already contributors to these meals. (We ask for desserts, apple sauce, frozen vegetables and other side dishes.) Many of you help serve or clean up afterwards. We can’t thank you enough for being part of this gift to our members. After almost every funeral, the family sends a special note of gratitude and acknowledgement of how wonderful the funeral meal ministry is. If you did not sign up to help with funeral meals on your 2018 Time & Abilities form, it is not too late to volunteer. Please call the church office and add your name to our lists. We are always looking for extra helpers and hands. Know that this is a way to serve that is so very appreciated by all. Do you know about Trinity’s columbarium? There are niches available for purchase. Have you prepared a statement of guidance for your family in the event of your death? Please talk to a pastor or the office staff if you would like assistance in these important future plans.

Flowers for the Outside Beds

Can you help us make the church look warm and inviting? Norb and Linda Schneider coordinate this effort, along with a host of other members. They prepare the beds, plant, weed, and water all summer long. All this makes the exterior of our building look warm and inviting, alive with God’s love! The flowers will be planted very soon, so help us if you can. All flowers will be listed by donor’s name as given to the glory of God. The deadline for orders is May 22nd! I would like to sponsor flowers for our gardens to the glory of God! (Suggested donation; $5 - $20) Total enclosed $ _____ Name:_______________________

This way, scammers won’t know your house is empty!

Tracking Trinity Travels…. all summer long! Please send Vacation with Trinity photos to any of these addresses: [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected].

Bread Loaf for World Hunger Have you noticed the wooden bread loaf at the main doors to our sanctuary? It is a collection box for world hunger. If every

member who attends worship put in a dollar, we would make a huge difference in giving to this very important need. Give every week or once a month, but please give to feed the hungry. It is truly what Christ calls us to do. You may see Christ in the needs of our neighbors, here in our community and across the globe.

Coffee Hour & Doughnuts We have been serving doughnuts after the 8am service and after Sunday School for over 15 years. The proceeds always supported the building fund. Lately, there have been no proceeds. We encourage you to please be generous in contributing to the costs of these doughnuts. We want to share hospitality, but note that this costs the church money. A basket is out every week to help pay for the cost of the doughnuts and coffee that are provided. Thanks for your generosity!

Intern Matching Event Pastor Bill and Pastor Jen traveled to Gettysburg for the Intern Matching Workshop in February. We can report that we had seven interviews with prospective interns. All of the interns were very excited about Trinity and our ministry, and we had excellent interviews. We have received news that next year’s intern is Daniel Tate from Olean, New York. Daniel graduated from Allegheny College with a BA in Philosophy. He received an MA in religion from Syracuse University and a Masters in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is serving his Lutheran year at ULS in Philadelphia. Daniel will begin his service at Trinity in August.

Thus, we get to continue to shape seminarians as they prepare for ministry within Christ’s church. This is an awesome

responsibility and honor, and we look forward to being able to do it for another year. So, for now, we continue to uplift Vicar Kayla with prayer and support during the rest of her time with us at Trinity.

POCONO RETREAT 50th YEAR!

Order a special t-shirt! All proceeds

will help off-set the cost of this year’s retreat in May. $10 a shirt - order

Attention Youth in 5th Grade & Older

Women’s Ministry presents Trinity’s first ever COOKING CAMP! During the week of June 25th through June 29th from 9am through noon, we will offer cooking classes to youth who have finished grade 5 and up. Come join us for a week of cooking, baking, (eating, of course!) and learning basic cooking techniques. We are excited to share some of our favorite recipes and teach you some of the ‘tricks’ that we’ve learned through the years. There is a $20 registration fee to help cover the cost of supplies. Look for brochures on the kiosks in the narthex.

Women’s Ministry May 15 - 7:00pm

Women’s Ministry will be meeting Tuesday, May 15th to ‘tie-up’ any ‘loose threads’ that we have in our fleece blankets! This will be the last time we

meet until the fall. We will also talk about the Plant Swap, our summer ‘camp’ and look ahead to the fall. Please join us to see what we’ve been up to and what we’re planning for the future.

Easter Isn't Over

During your preparations for Easter, you may have heard someone say, “All this work and it’ll all be over so soon.”

Sorry, but they’re wrong. Easter as a celebration of the return of spring, the Easter of the Easter Bunny

and colored eggs and candy, fancy hats and new spring clothes may be over by Easter Monday, not to come around again until next year. But the true Easter, the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, is never over. Easter is the reminder and the celebration of a continuing fact: Christ, who was raised from death, is alive today, tomorrow and forever. Daily he offers us and the whole world power to begin new life now. Easter isn’t over … ever!

Trinity Afterschool Program

Trinity will be partnering with Olivet Boy’s and Girl’s Club to offer an afterschool program at Trinity, every day after school. Olivet’s will run the program, but we will be looking for Trinity volunteers to help with the children in grades K-8. Olivet’s will collect a yearly fee to help pay for the staff who will run the program. This will help to meet a true need within our community, providing affordable after-school care. The after school hours are the worst time for children to be left alone, and has been proven to be the time when they get into the most trouble. So, we are pleased to be able to work with Olivet’s, making a difference in the lives of families and youth in our community. Watch for more information about this program that will be forthcoming.

Breakfast Bible Study

Would you like to talk about Sunday’s sermon or learn more about the Bible? We gather at 8:30am in the church social hall. It is a great place to listen and learn, discuss if you wish, laugh and enjoy

fellowship. Good food, new friends, and Jesus, what more could you want!?!?! Breakfast is served buffet style each week. We are finished by 10am. Come and join with about 30 other members and non-members. Jesus is inviting you to come! There are only a few more Mondays until we break for the summer!

MEMORIAL REMEMBRANCE

for the MEN AND WOMEN OF U.S. ARMED FORCES

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2018 6:30pm @ HENRY P. ROBESON MEMORIAL PARK

A brief memorial remembrance ceremony will be held at Robesonia’s Henry P. Robeson Memorial Park to honor the men and women of our community who gave their lives while serving in our armed forces to protect us and the freedoms we greatly value. Everyone is encouraged to attend this ceremony to show respect and gratitude for the ultimate sacrifice these heroes made. Children also are welcome and especially invited.

Thrivent Members Because the chapter system has ended, the new way to fund projects is through action team grants. Every Thrivent member is entitled to two $250 action team grants. We need to leverage these dollars to help facilitate ongoing programs of outreach at the church, like 5th Quarter, Family Promise, VBS, God’s Work, Our Hands, etc. For all of these outreach programs that touch other’s lives, we can apply for Thrivent action team grants which will help to underwrite some of the costs. So, if you are a Thrivent member and would be willing to apply for an action team grant, please speak with Pastor Bill. We have Vacation Bible School and other outreach programs for which we need to get some aid. Thanks for helping to leverage this money to help others in need. Always with us Forty days after Easter, we celebrate Jesus’ ascension into heaven. This occurred 10 days before Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus’ followers, as he had promised.

Jesus’ ascension reminds Christians that although his body couldn’t remain present everywhere, we can universally experience his spiritual presence. In fact, Jesus’ final words to his disciples — and to us — contain this key promise: “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, ESV).
