The team is hosted by the wonderful families of the St John’s Bible College and St Christopher’s Lighthouse and Orphanage.

We will take you to see and experience the missions the Church is involved around Suva. Also see ongoing mission projects being supported by the Golden Oldies, including the under-resourced hospital, a building project in a remote village and a kindergarten established in a church.

Our missions now offer ‘Interns’ and ‘Graduates’ Mission programmes.

The ‘Interns’ are our first -timer Golden Oldies and we will take you to visit a number of mission projects -as outlined on the website.

Our ‘Graduates’ are Golden Oldies who enjoyed their ‘Internship’ mission so much that they are returning to offer their skills and life knowledge for specific mission projects.

A day trip is being planned to a remote inland village to learn about how the village community is responding to Cyclone Winston and recent severe flooding.

Then to finish off the trip we will take you for 2 nights experience at a tourist resort. This gives us time for a bit of ‘R and R’, and reflection for what we have experienced before returning to NZ.

‘I’m doing something that I thought I was too old for’

“That first visit to one of the villages made a profound impression on us, with these simple, poor people living in tin shacks in the most primitive conditions. They had never had visitors come and visit them, and their overwhelming welcome to us was quite humbling as we were treated as honoured guests”

“We would recommend the next trip to others. It was an eye-opening experience that gave a lot of food for thought”

Offering specialist introductory mission trips for seniorsStaying at either a Bible College or an orphanage, we plan to visit schools offering second-chance education for students from squatter settlements, small health/emergency centre and maternity hospital, old people’s home in the WW2 barracks, remote villages with subsistence farming practices, a day trip to the cyclone-impacted villages, and more.
