Associate Professor Richard Buckland and Mr. Adam Brimo, founder of Open Learning, visited Taylor’s University School of Engineering (SOE) to explore the latest developments in the area of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) as Taylor’s SOE was the first school in Malaysia to offer MOOC on Open Learning platform in March 2013. Taylor’s is working on maintaining its national leadership in the area of MOOCs by extending the collaboration with Open Learning beyond SOE and into other schools of the University.

Professor Dev Ranmuthugala, Director, National Centre for Ports and Shipping of the Australian Maritime College (AMC) of University of Tasmania (right), visited Taylor’s School of Engineering (SOE) to explore opportunities to run joint research programmes, including short time placement of Taylor’s postgraduate students at the AMC.

Professor Nigel Weatherill, Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Peter Byers, Pro Vice Chancellor (Education) of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) visited Taylor’s University to discuss on possibilities to jointly offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), industrial placement of students in the UK and Malaysia as well as joint research and staff development programmes. The visitors toured the university facilities and were impressed with the level of development and commitment that Taylor’s had put in to improve the quality of students’ learning experience on campus.

Three auditors from MQA - Dr. Mohd Azman Hashim @ Ismail from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Puan Lim Peng Peng and Puan Nor Izumee Ramli conducted an extensive audit on the Taylor’s Foundation in Engineering programme for two days. The panel of auditors was impressed with the various innovative measures used to facilitate teaching and learning in the programme and the state-of-the-art facilities that Taylor’s University offers for a holistic learning experience.

The programme aced the audit and successfully obtained full accreditation by MQA on 27th February 2014.
