From the Train Stripe - White (M), cut:• (2) 7 ½” x 51 ½” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.

From the Car Stripe - Light Blue (N), cut:• (2) 5” x 84” LOF strips.• (2) 5” x 67” LOF strips.

From the Traffic Light Geo - Yellow (Back), cut:• (2) 88” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 71” x 88” back.

Block Assembly1. Sew (1) 2” x 24 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the 24 ½” Fabric A square. Sew (1) 2” Fabric C square to each end of (1) 2” x 24 ½” Fabric B strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make the Center Block (Fig. 1).

2. Sew (1) 1” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of (1) 6 ½” Fabric I Orange square. Sew (1) 1” x 7 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric I square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 2). Repeat to make (12) Unit 1 squares total using (4) Orange squares, (2) Blue squares, (2) Red squares, (2) Green squares and (2) White squares.

3. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 7 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) Unit 1 square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 9 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 square to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 3). Repeat to make (12) Unit 2 squares total.

4. Sew (1) 1” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of (1) 6 ½” Fabric J square. Sew (1) 1” x 7 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric J square to make (1) Unit 3 square (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (4) Unit 3 squares total.

5. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 7 ½” Fabric K strip to each side of (1) Unit 3 square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 9 ½” Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 3 square to make (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (4) Unit 4 squares total.

6. Sew (1) 3 ½” Fabric F square to the top of (1) 3 ½” Fabric G square. Sew (1) 3 ½” Fabric H strip to the bottom of the Fabric G square. Sew the new strip to the right side of (1) Unit 2 White square to make (1) Unit 5 rectangle (Fig. 6).

7. Repeat Step 6 and refer to Figures 7-21 for component identification and placement to make (1) of each unit for Unit 6 through Unit 20.

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)12. Sew the Side, Top and Bottom Borders to the Center Block.

13. Sew (1) 2” x 51 ½” Fabric L strip to the bottom of (1) 7 ½” x 51 ½” Fabric M strip lengthwise. Sew the new strip to the top of the Center Block.

14. Sew (1) 2” x 51 ½” Fabric L strip to the top of (1) 7 ½” x 51 ½” Fabric M strip lengthwise. Sew the new strip to the bottom of the Center Block.

15. Sew (1) 2” x 68 ½” Fabric L strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2” x 54 ½” Fabric L strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

16. Center (1) 5” x 84” Fabric N strip on (1) side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

17. Repeat Step 16 to sew (1) 5” x 67” strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 26).

8. Sew (1) Unit 5 rectangle, (1) Unit 6 rectangle and (1) Unit 7 rectangle together, top to bottom and in that order, to make the Left Side Border (Fig. 22).

9. Sew (1) Unit 8 rectangle, (1) Unit 9 rectangle and (1) Unit 10 rectangle together, top to bottom and in that order, to make the Right Side Border (Fig. 23).

10. Sew (1) Unit 11 square, (1) Unit 12 rectangle, (1) Unit 13 rectangle, (1) Unit 14 rectangle and (1) Unit 15 square together in that order to make the Top Border (Fig. 24).

11. Sew (1) Unit 16 square, (1) Unit 17 rectangle, (1) Unit 18 rectangle, (1) Unit 19 rectangle and (1) Unit 20 square together in that order to make the Bottom Border (Fig. 25).

19. Layer and quilt as desired.

20. Sew the (8) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

21. Bind as desired.

18. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 26), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners to make the quilt top.
