The Grammatical Literal method of interpretation

To take the intended meaning of the author as written from a plain study of the text.

Roy Zuck: the literal method which approaches the Scripture in the normal, customary way in which we talk, write, and think. It means taking the Scriptures at face value in an attempt to know what God meant by what He said.

This is the basic framework in the interpretation of all the prophetic passages

Four layers if understanding:P. P’shat—the plain senseR. Remez—a hint within the text itself.D. D’rash—a deeper reflection based on the text.S. Sod—the mysterious or secret meaning - often based on gematria,

numerical value of Hebrew letters.

However careful study is needed and He must open minds – same as OT predictions of Christ

Matt. 16:3: Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 早晨天發紅、又發黑、你們就說、今日必有風雨。你們知道分辨天上的氣色、倒不能分辨這時候的神蹟。

1. Paul speaks of partial hardening of Jews but predicts an end in the future ….

Romans 11:1. I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it

never be! For I too am an Israelite,我且說、神棄絕了他的百姓麼．斷乎沒有．因為我也是以色列人、亞伯拉罕的後裔、屬便雅憫支派的。25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this

mystery-- so that you will not be wise in your own estimation-- that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;弟兄們、我不願意你們不知道這奧秘、就是以色列人有幾分是硬心的、等到外邦人的數目添滿了

Let us examine a few key prophecies regarding the Jews and Israel

Luke 21 – speaks of the times of the Gentiles when predicting the Roman siege.20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize

that her desolation is at hand.你們看見耶路撒冷被兵圍困、就可知道他．成荒場的日子近了。24 and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into

all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.他們要倒在刀下、又被擄到各國去．耶路撒冷要被外邦人踐踏、直到外邦人的日期滿了。

…there are signs that the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled.

Chronos: time in general or extent of timeKairos: definite portion of time for an opportunity

Jerusalem is taken by Rome in 70 AD.But in 1967 Jerusalem is recaptured by the Jews and is now capital of Israel

Jewish New Testament Commentary – written by Messianic Jews agrees that the age of the gentiles is over

On Luke 21:24

On June 8, 1967, the Israeli army entered the Old City and converged on the Western (“Wailing”) Wall, liberating Yerushalayim at last.Many regard that as the moment when Yeshua’s prophecy was fulfilled -1,897 years of Gentile rule over Yerushalayim came to an end, and she is no longer “trampled down by the Goyim,” because “the age of the Goyim has run its course”; at last Yeshua’s words have come true.

Indeed Jews are turning to Christ – “more Jews turning to Christ in last 19

years than 19 centuries put together”

Another evidence that the partial hardening is over

2. Jerimiah predicts return of the Jews and their own shepherds to emerge

Jeremiah 23:3 "Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the

countries where I have driven them and bring them back to their pasture, and they will be fruitful and multiply.

4 "I will also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the LORD.

5 "Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.

6 "In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, 'The LORD our righteousness.'

Indeed Messianic Jews emerge in Israel with godly shepherds leading them.

There are now >200 synagogues in Israel

Romans 11: 23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will

be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.而且他們若不是長久不信、仍要被接上．因為　神能夠把他們從新接上。24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree,

and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?你是從那天生的野橄欖上砍下來的、尚且逆著性得接在好橄欖上、何況這本樹的枝子、要接在本樹上呢。

3. In Rom. 11:24, the natural branches will be grafted in on their own

Church and Messianic Judaism are one body but are not the same parts

Luke 21:25 "There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among

nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,日月星辰要顯出異兆．地上的邦國也有困苦．因海中波浪的響聲、就慌慌不定． 26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon

the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.天勢都要震動．人想起那將要臨到世界的事、就都嚇得魂不附體。27 "Then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN A CLOUD with power and

great glory.那時、他們要看見人子、有能力、有大榮耀、駕雲降臨。 28 "But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.“一有這些事、你們就當挺身昂首．因為你們得贖的日子近了。

Of so we may be in “this generation”………我們能不能在這世代 ?

Luke 21:29 Then He told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees;耶穌又設比喻對他們說、你們看無花果樹、和各樣的樹30 as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that

summer is now near.他發芽的時候、你這世代一看見自然曉得夏天近了。31 "So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the

kingdom of God is near.這樣、你們看見這些事漸漸的成就、也該曉得神的國近了。32 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take

place.我實在告訴你們、這世代還沒有過去、這些事都要成就。
