God’s Absolute Work of Deliverance

Daniel 3:26-30

Absolute – perfect, excellent, pure

The Perfect Pureness of God’s Deliverance.

Preaching the Word of God helps to convict the lost sinner, chastise

the backslider, and encourage the saints of God.

In 1887 William Ogden wrote one of our favorite hymns and titled it

“He is Able to Deliver Thee”. The words of the chorus are:

He is able to deliver thee,

He is able to deliver thee;

Though by sin oppressed, go to Him for rest;

Our God is able to deliver thee.

Man do we ever long for deliverance?

What a world huh? I guess you heard all the things that have been in

the news this week… Possible Burning of Korans, Church opening the

door to Muslims to worship, yesterday was a day of remembrance 9-

11, terrorism, economy, tyranny of Gov. control and suppression….

Do we need deliverance?

Some want deliverance from some burden (job related, finances,)

abuse, or habit. Some want deliverance from an evil lifestyle….

The word has many different meanings.

1. To carry and turn over (letters, goods, etc.) to the intended recipient

or recipients: to deliver mail; to deliver a package.

2. To give into another's possession or keeping; surrender: to deliver a

prisoner to the police; to deliver a bond. .

3. To utter or pronounce: to deliver a verdict; to deliver a speech.

4. To give forth or emit: The oil well delivers 500 barrels a day.

5. To strike or throw: to deliver a blow.

6. To give birth to: She delivered twins at 4 a.m.

7. To set free or liberate: The Israelites were delivered from bondage.

Gods Deliverance Is

1. Absolutely necessary – Without it we would face total destruction.

The three Hebrew children would have certainly perished if it had not

been for God’s deliverance. Did you know that without the deliverance

of God we would be without hope and doomed. But because of God’s

deliverance we can be saved and be given an eternal hope.

Eph. 2:11-13 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the

flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the

Circumcision made in the flesh by hand that at that time you were

without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and

strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without

God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off

have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

The words of the the second verse from the song Without Him are:

Without Him I would be dying

Without Him I'd be enslaved

Without Him life would be worthless

But with Jesus thank God I'm saved .

2. Absolutely Powerful V. 26 – from the fire. A fire that had already

killed others. Did you see the news report of the explosion and fire in

California this week? How sad. When it seems as though it is

impossible, we are reminded just how possible it is with God. And we

need this powerful deliverance. It is our only way to miss the fire of

hell. Dear friends as much as the world would want to tell you that

Hell is not real, let me just tell you an Absolute truth…. Hell is as real

as any place that has ever existed. The Bible talks about this place. It is

not imaginary; it is not just a place to tell someone to go to. Hell is

real. And if you have never received the Deliverance of God’s

salvation, then this is where you will go. But God is powerful. He even

holds the key to Hell. And when He delivers you from it, He locks the

door so that you will never have to go there. God is absolutely

powerful over the fires of hell.

God’s Deliverance is

3. Absolutely Free to those who trust – V. 28 I share this thought

because God’s deliverance cannot be bought or manipulated or

bargained. The three Hebrew men did not have to pay or promise or

find it necessary to bargain with God in order to obtain deliverance. It

was just given to them. They never said they would do something if

Only God would deliver them. No, they just knew that God would do

it and not ask them for any favors or any price. God paid the price. If

that was the case it would be cheap. God’s deliverance is free, but it is

not cheap. Therefore it demands our trust – our absolute allegiance.

Dt 23:14 For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to

deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp

shall be holy(absolute), that He may see no unclean thing among you,

and turn away from you.

4. Absolutely Complete – V. 28 not a hair singed, or garments

affected, or smell of fire on them. God’s work is always completely

done. He never leaves anything unfinished. An unfinished project

reveals that there is more work to be done. That improvements are still

in process. But that is not how God operates. He is absolute in his

work. Hebrews 7:25. Therefore He is also able to save to the

uttermost (Absolutely) those who come to God through Him, since He

always lives to make intercession for them.

The work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary was a work of completion.

No more has to be done for man to be saved. Jesus did it all… When

He said, “It is finished” He meant that the work of deliverance was

absolutely perfect, finished, and complete.

God’s Deliverance is

5. Absolutely Unrivaled – v. 29 God’s perfect deliverance is

unchallenged, unequaled, unbeatable, and unmatched. And if it was

anything less it would not be absolute.

Exodus 15:11 “Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is

like You, glorious in holiness.”

Exodus 18:11 “Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the

gods; for in the very thing in which they behaved proudly, He was

above them.”

Dt. 10:17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords,

the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes

a bribe.

Because God’s deliverance is therefore absolute, it is important

that we remain faithful to Him and Him alone. It is vital that we

depend on no other means but His alone. It is imperative that we

worship Him and Him alone. Otherwise we will never be absolutely,

perfectly delivered.

6. Absolutely Prosperous – V. 30 The men were promoted the

scripture tells us. In other words they were given rank and station and

made to prosper. Did it happen because of King Nebuchadnezzar’s

decree? No. It happened because of the perfect absolute will of God.

These men didn’t receive their place in life because of what any man

could do. If so that would be an imperfect work. But God’s work is

perfect. The only way we receive true prosperity is through true

absoluteness – the purity and perfection of God.

’Tis the grandest theme through the ages rung;

’Tis the grandest theme for a mortal tongue;

’Tis the grandest theme that the world e’er sung,

“Our God is able to deliver thee.”
