Introductions and Icebreaker

Thank you for contributing to the inventory! This guide describes the mechanics of adding information to the site once you have obtained a user name and password from one of the wiki administrators. If you have additional questions, contact Karen Hogenboom (hogenboo at illinois dot edu), who will help you or put you in touch with someone who can help you.

1. Navigate to the project home page (http://wikis.ala.org/godort/index.php/Inventory_of_Projects_Preserving_State_Government_Information) and go to the edit tab

2. Scroll down to the state you are working on and edit the name of the state. Use two sets of brackets to enclose the name of your state plus the phrase "digital preservation projects". If you look at Illinois in the edit screen you will see an example of what this looks like. Save your changes.

3. You are now out of the edit screen and your state has a live link to a blank page called "Your State Name digital preservation projects". When you click into the page, you will be at a place where you can enter information about the projects for your state.

4. At the top of the page, link back to the project home page using the following text: Inventory Home Page: http://wikis.ala.org/godort/index.php/Inventory_of_Projects_Preserving_State_Government_Information

5. For each project, copy the following text from the edit tab for this guide and paste it into "Your State Name digital preservation projects":

URL: Date coverage of project: Subject coverage: Sponsoring organization: Author (if applicable): Contact information for project: Date site was reviewed: Other notes:

6. You are ready to fill in your information! The wiki software will automatically create a table of contents if you have more than three projects listed. If some of the listed items (i.e. author and other notes) are not applicable to the site you are working with, feel free to delete them.
