Helps us accept forgiveness

Gives us the capacity to engage in the moral life

Comfort/Challenge Living the Christian Moral life is both a comfort and

a challenge. It is a comfort because we can all appreciate the grace that God gives us. To know that we are loved and forgiven and accepted for who we are. It is also a challenge because grace requires us to be courageous and change certain behaviors that we are comfortable with but that are morally contrary to the Christian message of the Gospels.

Cheap Grace

Denotes a relationship with God that we take

for granted

God loves us no matter what, so it doesn’t

matter what we do

It’s a one-way love relationship. God loves us

but we don’t show we love Him

Costly Grace

Denotes a relationship with God that involves a

response on our part

It is a two-way love relationship

We experience God’s love so deeply that we are

moved to love others in return

It’s costly because it requires a certain sacrifice from

us

Vocation

Page 14: God is present in the world and reveals himself God the Father Jesus The Church.

Vocation The way we live out our vocation varies from

person to person, but everyone’s vocation is to

know, love and serve God

Our vocation is to make something beautiful

out of the talents that God has given us

To be co-workers with God in the continuing

story of creation
