Nurturing Growth for a Lifetime of Learning
My reading goal is; To use my prior knowledge so I can make predictions about what will happen next in the story
My writing goal is; To use capital letters correctly. This means that I always use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and that I don’t use capital letters in the middle of words or sentences.
My maths goal is to make groupings to 20
* I can add and take away numbers to make 20
* I know the answers straight away
* I can write the answers down
I can work independently

Thank you for coming to share my
learning goals.
How you can help at home:•Listen to me read my book every night. Follow the text as I am reading so you know I am reading the words correctly.
•If I make a mistake ask me to try it again.
•If I am stuck on a word ask me to:• Look at the picture to see what word would make
sense.• Ask me to break the word up into sounds or chunks
and help me blend it back together.
•Ask me questions about my book to check my understanding. Ask me what might happen next. Ask me to tell you about the characters, the setting and the plot.
•Read books to me so we can enjoy stories together. Take turns reading a page each.
How you can help at home:
•Help me to write things for you: notes, lists, letters and emails.
•Write a diary together about a family outing or about the weekend.
•Work with me on my spelling words. Revise the essential words by spelling out loud and writing them down.
•Play scrabble, do word finds and crosswords together.
•I know sentences start with a capital letter – you can help me to always do this when I am writing at home.
How you can help at home:
•Count forwards and backwards with me in 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100.
•Count forwards and backwards with me in 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s within decades from 100 to 1000.
•Play board games like Monopoly, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, Uno, Memory, and Snap with me.
•Practice my basic facts using flash cards. We can make these at home together.
•Play make 21 with cards and other card games where I have to add up the numbers quickly.
