CONFERENCE ATTENDED: Ms. Neeta D. Malik attended the 21st National Convention on Knowledge, Library and Information Networking (NACLIN 2018) organized by DELNET in collaboration with GITAM University, Visakhapatnam at the Sai Priya Beach Resort from October 4-6, 2018. The theme of the Conference was “Managing Strategies and Technologies for Advancing Scope and Services of Libraries”. She presented her Poster Presentation jointly prepared by Dr. Kuljeet G. Kahlon. The Poster Presentation was on “Library User Engagement Strategies - A Case Study of GNIMS, Mumbai”. She also participated in the “Open Mike Competition on Market Place for Innovative Ideas for Libraries”. In the Open Mike Competition, she spoke about having a Kid’s Zone in the Library for the Life-Time Members of the Library. This will motivate and encourage kids to read books.

Industrial Visit:

Full-Time MMS and PGDM were taken for an Industrial Visit to Chandigarh and Amritsar, from October 8 – 15, 2018. They visited Steel Bird Helmets and BAS – Vampire in Chandigarh.

PROQUEST TRAINING PROGRAM: GNIMS Library organized ProQuest Online Database Training Program on October 10, 2018 in the New IT Lab. The training Program was organized for the Faculty as well as MMS (A and B), Batch 2018-2020. Mr. Sanjay Rajan from ProQuest Online Database was the trainer.

DEAR – DROP EVERYTHING AND READ Reading Day or Vaachan Prena Diwas, in memory of late Former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary, was celebrated as DEAR by GNIMS on October 15, 2018. Here students and faculties read for at least half an hour from 11.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Library or at their work stations.

FOURTH INTER-CLASS GROUP DISCUSSION: The Fourth Inter-Class Group Discussion was held on October 16, 2018 at 2.30 pm in Class No.102. Group of five students namely Pawan - PGDM, Sakshi - PGDM, Snehankita Kale- MMS B, Abhishek Vishwakarma - MMS - A, Sandeep - MMS A and Mohit - MMS A participated. “Is India A Soft Nation” was the topic for discussion. Prof. Hema Deogharkar was the evaluator for the group discussion. All members participated enthusiastically and able to form valid points, figures and facts on the topic. Prof. Hema Deogharkar announced the final winners as there was a tie between Ms. Sakshi Mehra from PGDM and Ms. Snehankita Kale from MMS B.

SARASWATI POOJA GNIMS Library conducted the annual Saraswati Pooja on October 17, 2018. All staff members and students took the blessings of the Goddess.

AUTHOR OUTREACH PROGRAM: The Annual Event Author Outreach Program was organized by GNIMS Library on October 17, 2018 from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. Dr. Sumi Jha was the Speaker at the Event. Dr. Sumi Jha is currently working as Associate Professor at National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE). She has Recently published a Book on “Strategic Leadership Models and Theories Indian Perspectives”. Certificates for the Business Situation Writing Competition were also distributed to the students during this event. Two Best Prices for the Business Situation Writing Competition were awarded to Ms. Aishwarya L. Kurkure and Ms. Dixita R. Bhandari (Both MMS, Batch 2018-2020).

GHRDC-CSR B-SCHOOLS SURVEY 2018 Congratulations!!! GNIMS had participated in this survey. GNIMS ranked 12 in the Ranking of Top B-School of Eminence. The results of GHRDC-CSR B-School Survey 2018 are published in Competition Success Review Magazine”, November 2018 issue.

FIFTH INTER-CLASS GROUP DISCUSSION: The Fifth Inter-Class Group Discussion was held on October 17, 2018 at 2.30 pm in Class No.102. Group of five Students namely Tushar Padawe – MMS B, Prathmesh Kalekar – POGDM, Tejas Palande – MMS A, Chintan Mehta – PGDM, Yugeshri Wakdikar – MMS B. Topic of the discussion was “Should Recruiters Favor MBAs over Non-MBAs”. Prof. Sagaljit Kaur was the evaluator for the group discussion. All members participated enthusiastically and able to form valid points, figures and facts on the topic. Students from all courses were present as an audience. Prof. Sagaljit Kaur announced the final winner Chintan Mehta from PGDM.

HDFC – ON CAMPUS DRIVE: HDFC ON Campus Drive was held on October 19, 2018 at our campus. 19 Students from our Institute were selected for Summer Internship and Five were selected for Final Placement. Mr. Suresh Patil coordinated and organized this Pool Campus. Congratulations to all the students for being selected in HDFC.

CHECKMATE: Sports Graduate Program in Sports Management UNDER THE AEGIS OF MCDCA organized CHECKMATE - Chess Tournament for Open and Age Category Tournament. There was no separate event for Boys and Girls. They played together in Age Category tournament. The event was held in G. N. Khalsa College on October 28, 2018. Trophies were given to the winners in each category for top 7 boys and 3 girls and Six cash prizes were awarded to the winners in the open category. Participation Certificate were awarded to all.

GNIMS BOOK EXHIBITION: Book Exhibition was conducted by the Library on October 30, 2018 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm in the Library Reading Room. Students, staff and Professors selected books for the library. Books exhibitions are held to build up the collection of the library and to encourage Library users to read the books selected by them.

EXAMINATIONS:

Exams for EMBA (PGCM) Term 1 – Batch 13 were conducted from October 27 to 28, 2018, November 3 – 4, 2018.

Exams for the Full Time PGDM Term 1 were conducted from October 12 to 19, 2018.

Exams for the Full Time MMS–Semester III were conducted from October 25 to 31, 2018 and from November 1-3, 2018.

Exams for the Part-Time (MMM/MFM/MHRDM) Semester III and V were conducted from October 20 – 21, 2018 and October 27-28, 2018.
