Happy News: The hosts, Sanjeev & Anju celebrated their Silver Jubilee anniversary & all present wished them many more & a

happy longish togetherness. lt was also wished that when they celebrate their Golden Jubilee they do it with the SZMS too.

Sad News: The house observed two minutes silence in honour &

memory of Late Ch. G L Datta Josh VP, GMS. He was basically

a member of SZ & his candida- ture for the post of VP GMS was sponsored by a member of SZ i.e. none other than Shri MM Mehta, the outgoing Secretary. lt

was conveyed that we all join his family in their hour of grief & pray to the almighty to bestow peace to the departed soul & also, grant fortitude to the aggrieved mem- bers of the family to bear the ir- replaceable loss.

Transaction of Business: At the outset Prof. JS Bali, President Emeritus initiated a debate on the meaning of the Gayatri Mantra that is chanted at the beginning

of our meeting. lt was indeed a

mini brain storming session wherein, most present aired their views I understanding of the mantra. Thereafter, Shri MM Mehta Secy. whilst informing the house that though, in the last meeting a new EC has since been elected & is in place, he opined it would be apt if the out- going President could say a few words on the basis on which SZMS was formed for the ben- efit of the new committee, which would go a long way for them to evolve an appropriate road map to be followed. Gp Capt DC Mehta (Retd) before formally laying down office, placed on record his teams gratitude & in- debtedness to the august house for having rendered unstinted, unconditional support & guid- ance during their tenure. He ex- pressed with sense of pride & satisfaction that he immensely enjoyed serving the Mohyal Fra- ternity thru SZMS & he had a

seamless tenure as President. A word of thanx & appreciation to his team who managed the af- fairs most proficiently & always rose to the occasion. He laid due emphasis on his team creating history in the annals of Mohyal fraternity, firstly, by introducing a

system of paying tribute to the stalwarts of SZ by conducting Memorial Lectures, inclusive of establishing a tradition of paying annual homage I tribute to all members who have been snatched by the evil hands of death by dedicating the meeting of September each year in their memory. A special meeting is held on 14th September, the death anniversary of Budh Devji the founder member of SZMS, secondly by honouring the Oc- togenarian & finally by Empow- ering Women & handing over reins of SZ to all women team. He was very clear that these achievements (if one calls them so could not have seen the light of the day without the blessings & support of the members. He opined that he would be failing in his duties, if a spi mention about Shri. Ajay Datta was not made as it would be in order & that; he had no hesitation in con- fessing that Ajay was the real backbone ofthe sabha being the work horse. His relentless & un- tiring selfless service beyond the call of his duty with a distinct smile across his face is truly an example for gen-next to emulate.

As a paradigm shift is on the threshold with the Baton of sz changing hands between two generations, especially keeping in view none amongst the team was there at the time of incep- tion of SZMS, hence he thought it prudent to give them a peek into the basis on which the SZ was conceptualized by the vi- sionaries such as, Late Savitri Datta, Wg Cdr TR Deewan (Datta). Founder President, BD Datta, BM Mehta unfortunately all are no longer amidst us, as they have left for their heavenly bode. A few of the rationale & basis (appended below) on which the sabha had been con- ceptualized were recapitulated for the benefit of all present.

Congregation of like minded Mohyals with the aim to usher- ing, establishing & maintaining Bonhomie & Camaraderie amongst the members in particu- lar & the mohyal fraternity in gen- eral. To act I perform as the Think Tank of OMS, of which we were part & parcel.

Being a small group was akin to a family which imbibed the Core Values of a family. Thereby, de- ciding that:-

Not to get entangled in formulat- ing any by-laws or Constitution perse. Being part & parcel of the Parent Body of our fraternity, we would abide by & be guided by the Constitution of OMS. Thus, follow the rules in letter & spirit. In the absence of any Formal document, SZMS shall follow the practice of unwritten Conven- tions, which included the likes of; All members are on equal foot- ing, irrespective of their status or for that matter their standing in the society.

Members would meet once a

month preferably on First Sun- day of the month, so that our meeting doesn't clash with the

meeting of OMS, which is held on second Sunday ofthe month.

Meetings will be held in the resi- dences of the members in rota- tion & that the host will strictly offer only vegetarian snacks I food & No hard drinks will be served. Austerity is to be en- su red

Meeting be scheduled preferably in the first half of the day & avoid evening I night meetings, due in- convenience kely to be caused to members in commuting. No hard & fast rule of laying out a

meal.

SZMS being affiliated to OMS, the minutes of our meetings shall be promulgated in Mohyal Mitter.

Due to inbuilt constraints, no ag- gressive membership drive to be undertaken & membership will be granted subject to the ap- provai of Governing Council, fol- lowing the due process of demo- cratic norms of majority note.

Membership to be kept in wrap so as to ensure it doesn't get unwieldy & thus, unmanageable. Life time membership for the family by paying a fee of Rs. 500. The Executive Committee will have a term of Two Years, ex- tendable by one year. Having given them an insight & having handed overthe reins, he wished them the best & also, advised them to bear in mind the unwrit- ten conventions based on which the foundation of SZ has been laid & on which it stands today.

Prof. JS Bali, the President Emeritus, whilst appreciating the Out of Box thinking done by the outgoing team & the august house of ushering in a new con- cept of Women Empowerment congratulated & welcomed the new team. He also, appreciated the gesture of Gp Capt Mehta to have taken the initiative to deliver his well thought thanks giving speech on behalf of his team & also, of the invaluable tips given to his successors. Whilst endors- ing the unique idea of passing on the traditions by giving the new team an insight of the concepts, he was confident that the new team under the dynamic stew- ardship of Ritu Mohan would raise the Bar & thus, be the talk ofthe Biradri.

Smt. Ritu Mohan, President SZMS, on behalf of her team ex- pressed her gratitude & indebt-

edness for having reposed the confidence in them & having handed over the reins of the sabha to them. Whilst reassur- ing the august house, she in un- equivocal terms mentioned that they shall leave no stone unturned in living up to their ex- pectation, in the same breath she most humbly solicited the bless- ings, guidance & valuable assis- tance of the elders as & when they encounter any unforeseen impediments. She had no hesi- tation in confessing that they consider themselves fortunate to have Reservoir of Expertise, in form of the elders & she with her team will not blink an eyelid in falling back on the plethora of their experience. Thereafter, proper & formal handing I taking over between Secretaries I Trea- surers i.e. Shri MM Mehta & Smt. Anita Datta I Shri. Ajay Datta & Smt. Monica Vaid respectively was carried out in the presence Gp Capt DC Mehta & Smt. Ritu Mohan. Detailed briefing was carried out whilst handing over document & records inclusive of Two photo albums.

The cake brought by the children of Anju & Sanjeev was cut with fun & frolic by the couple cel-

ebrating their silver jubilee in presence oftheir immediate fam- ily & SZMS members the ex- tended family.

There being no further points to transact, the meeting came to end by placing on record a Vote of thanks by the Anita Datta, Secretary to the hosts for sump- tuous lunch spread out & also, announcing that the next meet- ing for the month of April will be hosted by the new committee on Sunday, the 5th April at Country Club, Sainik Farms, Khanpur.
