1. altar-

in Orthodox architecture, the term signifies the area of the sanctuary divided from the rest of the church by the iconostasis -(ro.) altar

2. antimension- it is a rectangular piece of cloth, either linen or silk, typically decorated with representations of the Descent of Christ from the Cross, the four Evangelists, and inscriptions related to the Passion. The antimension is kept in the center of the Holy Table (altar) and is unfolded only during the Divine Liturgy, before the Anaphora -(ro.) antimis

3. fresco- the art of painting on fresh, moist plaster with pigments dissolved in water -(ro.) frescă

4. holy doors, royal doors- are the central doors of the iconostasis in an Eastern Orthodox or Greek-Catholic Church through which only the clergy may pass -(ro.) porţi împărăteşti

5. iconostasis- is a wall of icons and religious paintings, separating the nave from the sanctuary in a church -(ro.) iconostas

6. narthex- the narthex of a church is the entrance or lobby area, located at the end of the nave, at the far end from the church's main altar. In the narthex people often gather before and after a service to greet each other It is an area for bridging the "sacred" and the "secular." -(ro.) pronaos

7. nave- the nave is the central approach to the high altar, the main body of the church -(ro.) naos

8. patron saint- a saint regarded as the particular guardian of a church -(ro.) sfânt patron

9. shrine- is a holy or sacred place, which is dedicated to a specific deity, ancestor, hero, martyr, saint, or similar figure of awe and respect, at which they are venerated or worshipped. Shrines often contain idols, relics, or other such objects associated with the figure being venerated -(ro.) raclă

10. steeple- a tall ornamental tower that forms the superstructure of a church -(ro.) turlă
