  • Scott Aniol Assistant Professor of Church Music

Scott Aniol is an author, speaker, and teacher of worship, church music philosophy, culture, and

aesthetics. In addition to teaching courses in worship and philosophy in the School of Church Music at

Southwestern Seminary, Scott regularly lectures around the country in churches, conferences, colleges, and

seminaries. Recent speaking engagements include the Great Lakes Conference on Theology, the Conference

on the Church for Gods Glory, and the Preserving the Truth Conference. He has also lectured in conferences

and seminaries in Australia and Brazil.

Scott is the author of two books, Worship in Song: a Biblical Approach to Music and Worship (BMH

Books, 2009) and Sound Worship: a Guide to Making Musical Choices in a Noisy World (Religious Affections

Ministries, 2010) as well as dozens of articles.

Scott is also the Managing Editor of Artistic Theologian, a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal of worship and ministry arts published by

the School of Church Music at Southwestern.

Scott has a burden that churches allow the Bible to regulate their worship instead of

the prevailing culture. This requires that pastors and church musicians have a thorough

understanding about what Scripture teaches regarding worship, beauty, and culture, subjects

Scott has given his life to studying and teaching.

    Scott blogs at www.ArtisticTheologian.com and www.ReligiousAffections.org .

Scott, his wife Becky, and their two children (Caleb and Kate) reside in Fort Worth, TX.
