VELCROONESIES

JAN CONCEPT 1

When dressing up, toddlers could imagine to be the thing they are dressed up as. If all kids dress up as an animal for a playday, they will see all kinds of animals and will have to treat them with proper respect, since they are dealing with other little toddlers. This way, a very simple product could instill a sense for animals as being living things, worthy of respect.

However, normal onesies are existent aplenty and although fun they don’t necessarily create a bond with animals. However, if the children can ‘build’ their own animals, the onesies themselves also create a fun interaction.

To ‘build an animal’ the children will combine body parts. For example, a tail from a lion, ears from a hippo and stripes from a zebra.

The toddlers dress up as and ‘build’ their own animals.

They play around, having fun with the animal suits and each other. Trying out different combinations and playing their regular games.

If they would misbehave, a teacher comes in to make them be nice to each other, teaching them moral in how to treat each other and passively how they should treat nature.

A reason why children are so interested in animals is that children have a natural urge to make sense of the world. They constantly try to sort, categorise, and organise the things they see. The animal world is a natural place for children to start, because it’s very tangible: there are small animals, big animals, animals that walk, animals that fly and so on. By interacting with something, a toddler will value it. As long as it is interesting, it will maintain attention of the child and be interacted with. Creating a playful app could be a solution which creates this interaction.

In a digital form, an animal can be humanized, to talk back or show emotion, which a real animal is less capable off and might be too dangerous for. This way, a bond between the animals and toddlers could be established safely, creating the desired sentiment for nature.

This way, three- to six-year-olds alike could play with the animals and get to know nature whilst playing.

Little playbikes are often some of the most popular toys in the playground. Kids like them because they can do things with the they can not do with out. It’s a new experience. Animals are interesting because they offer a new experience as well. So why not combine those qualities and make a wooden, representing nature, playbike, with the looks of animals.

By attaching the animal legs to the weels, the animals will ‘walk’ when your riding. If the legs are made to come outside of the wheel a bit when turning, it even seems as if the animal actually walks!

Kids will play around on the bikes, having fun with the animals and appre-ciating the toys.

The animals will move, making them look livelike while playing. Creating more appreciation than a regular bike.

The bikes will be cared for by the children, translating into a positive attitude towards animals.

CURUPIRA’SPUZZLE

NATH CONCEPT 1

Through gami�cation, this puzzle both develops the child’s basic cognitive skills as well as teaching them about di�erent types of animals and what natural habitat they belong to. Children will develop an understanding that animals should remain in the wild.

RAISE THEANIMALS!

Building each animal �gure/model represents the children nurturing and helping the animal grow. They have to put care into building as the structure can be delicate, just like how animals need to be protected. Children can closely examine the unique characteristics of each animal and learn more as well.

By playing with this puzzle train, children are tasked to help guide Curupira’s train of animals back to the jungle where they belong. They need to put care in steering the pull-train so the animals don’t fall o�, teaching them how animals also need care and help like human do.

A start to end path is set using cones. Children �t the animal �gures into their place on the train carriage.

Pull the train along with a string to bring the animals back to their home.
